Florida government to release 750 million genetically engineered mosquitoes in bizarre experiment

Florida authorities plan to release at least 750 million genetically modified mosquitoes into the Florida Keys beginning in 2021.

The widely criticized move is said to be taking place to determine if a genetically altered mosquito is better than the option of spraying insecticides to control Aedes aegypti, which typically carry diseases such as chikungunya, yellow fever, Zika, and more, Fox News reported.

What are the details?

Local authorities on Tuesday gave the project the official go-ahead, prompting criticism from local residents and environmental advocacy groups alike.

The controversial project already received state and federal approval.

In a Wednesday statement, Jaydee Hanson, policy director for the International Center for Technology Assessment and Center for Food Safety, said, “With all the urgent crises facing our nation and the State of Florida — the COVID-19 pandemic, racial injustice, climate change — the administration has used tax dollars and government resources for a ‘Jurassic Park’ experiment.”

“Now the Monroe County Mosquito Control District has given the final permission needed. What could possibly go wrong?” Hanson added. “We don’t know, because EPA unlawfully refused to seriously analyze environmental risks, now without further review of the risks, the experiment can proceed.”

’95 percent suppression’

In May, the EPA approved the use of British company Oxitec’s genetically engineered mosquitoes.

The genetically modified male mosquito is called OX5034. The mosquito breed has been genetically altered to ensure the larval deaths of female mosquitoes, which bite and transmit diseases. Males feed only on nectar and do not spread disease. The end result would be a steady reduction in the Aedes aegypti population.

Environmental authorities reportedly attempted to exhaust other avenues before opting for the genetically engineered mosquitoes, including using pesticides and introducing into the local ecological system fish that feast on mosquitoes.

Nathan Rose, director of regulatory affairs at Oxitec, told UPI, “We have shown that the release of mosquitoes in a neighborhood results in 95 percent suppression compared to areas with no release.”

Police Are Complicit in Politicians’ Disregard for the Rule of Law

This article was originally published by Ryan McMaken at The Mises Institute.

People of a certain age might remember the old John Birch Society slogan “Support your local police!” The idea here is that your local policeman is a liberty-loving buddy of yours who would only ever support just laws and constitutional mandates. Only those bad guys in the FBI or BATF would ever consider violating your rights.

Now, obviously that has always been a rather naïve fantasy, but the notion certainly has a long history of support among American conservatives. The idea that unionized, well-paid government employees sympathize with the common man instead of with the government that signs the cops’ checks apparently has long made sense (for some reason) to conservatives and many others.

David Icke To LEOs & Military: “Look Your Children In The Eye” & Tell Them YOU Enforced Tyranny

But thanks to the ongoing “state of emergency” and the fact that state governors, mayors, and health officials now rule by decree, we’re witnessing more and more how local law enforcement officers have no particular interest in the rule of law, the Bill of Rights, or basic human rights of any sort. Police have been at the forefront of arresting business owners for the “crime” of using their own private property, using city parks, and engaging in other peaceful activities.

As Judge Napolitano has noted, these “stay-at-home orders”—and the penalties that accompany them—aren’t even real laws since they were never passed by a legislature or brought into being by any process other than on the authority of a single person who is usually a state governor or municipal official. By no definition of “rule of law” do these measures meet basic moral requirements for their imposition on peaceful citizens.

But the police are enthusiastically enforcing these edicts nonetheless and using them as an excuse to harass the taxpayers.

Here are just a few examples from around the United States.

Keep in mind that no one is required to go near these places or interact with anyone involved. Those who wish to isolate themselves from these businesses and their clientele may freely do so. Yet these are just a handful of the many cases of police harassment involving citations, arrests, and other forms of coercion and intimidation brought against people who are just trying to live their lives. Nor should we assume that this is “as bad as it gets.” Since there is no longer any due process or public legislative process subject to checks and balances, governors and mayors can unilaterally decide at any time to ramp up social distancing requirements and business closures. If the public appears uncooperative, public officials can simply order police to be making mass arrests. We have no reason to think the police would not comply with this order.

After all, police personnel, who do not have a particularly impressive record when it comes to stopping or investigating real crime, have plenty of resources to crack down on nonviolent “perpetrators.”

The cases of New York and Odessa are instructive. Odessa law enforcement officers apparently have the extra time and resources to assemble a SWAT team in response to protests, but does this mean there is no real crime that needs investigating in Odessa? Of course not. According to the FBI’s 2018 crime survey, Odessa had 1,049 violent crimes in 2018, including 118 rapes and 819 aggravated assaults. If late 2019 and early 2020 were at all similar, then we’re talking about hundreds of violent crimes that Odessa-area police officials are ignoring in order to harass people for entering a tavern.

Indeed, if Odessa law enforcement agencies are anything like countless police agencies in other areas, only about half of the violent crimes are “resolved” at all. That is,

only 45 percent of violent crime lead to arrest and prosecution. That is, less than half of violent crimes result in what is known as a “clearance” of the crime. Property crime clearances are much worse. Only 17 percent of burglaries, arsons, and car thefts are “cleared.”

Among violent crimes, homicides experience the highest clearance rate by far, at 61 percent. Aggravated assault comes in at 53 percent, and rape at 34 percent.

But these are just cases where arrests are made and prosecutions are initiated. A smaller number of cases actually lead to convictions. A crime may be cleared even when the suspect is later exonerated.

New York is not exempt from these trends, yet the New York mayor recently dispatched one thousand cops to break up Jewish funerals and ensure that people don’t have barbecues on warm spring days.

By the way, there were more than forty-six thousand violent crimes in New York in 2018. But don’t fear, the police have extra personnel to come and break up your small backyard gathering.

There’s nothing surprising here, however. Police have long shown a lack of enthusiasm for addressing real crime, knowing that business owners, small-time drug users, and loiterers won’t fight back, and thus make for much better targets.

This is why police are often found to run and hide from truly violent criminals while the victims must fend for themselves, as in the case of the Parkland shooting or the case of the stabbing of Joseph Lozito.

Police are always careful to use the legal defense that they are not obligated to actually protect anyone from anything. The courts agree with this defense, and it is now well established legally that although you have an obligation to pay the police to “protect and serve,” the police have no obligation to actually provide protection.

But police officers and their bosses have convinced themselves that the really important policing right now involves hauling dog groomers off to jail and collecting revenue from parkgoers who are only standing five feet from the next person. But if you have a problem with real crime? You’re likely out of luck.

Covid-19 pandemic shutdown Damage to economy Glenn Beck Intelwars stimulus bill taxpayers

‘Where’s the rest?’ Glenn Beck on why the stimulus bill probably won’t help YOU, in interview with Dave Rubin

In the latest episode of “The Rubin Report,” BlazeTV host Dave Rubin talked to Glenn Beck about the financial problems the U.S. government has created in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Glenn discussed how the government enforced shutdown will destroy countless jobs and small businesses, and showed how the stimulus bill and paycheck protection plan will not be enough to make up for the damage to our economy. Many Americans will be worse off as more taxpayer funds are funneled away from the people who really need help.

“What we’ve done is, we’ve taken $7,500 from every American, or $16,500 from every taxpayer … and then given some of those taxpayers a check for $1,200,” Glenn said. “We’ve taken $2.5 trillion dollars and only given $355 billion to small businesses. Where’s the rest going?”

1984 Business cash Central Banks Corporations Debt Dollar Draconian experts Fear Financial Crisis Forecasting global banking system inciting panic Intelwars Japan Mainstream media reset taxpayers The Federal Reserve United States zero interest rates

ILLEGAL MEANS NOTHING: Washington Buying STOCKS – END TIME!

This article was contributed by Tom Beck of Portfolio Wealth Global.

At this point, society is being REARRANGED. Forget anything you know about our political, judicial, and financial systems, and the values we cherish.

Basically, discard anything you thought America stood for. America is fighting for survival. It’s a DO-OR-DIE moment and the government and the central bank are TAKING OVER everything.

I’ve already covered the fact that the Federal Reserve has lowered rates to zero. I’ve shown you the MARGIN CALL that the U.S. Dollar has been in, but you’ll need to sit down for what’s coming next.

We live in a new world.

In this new system, the Federal Reserve criminals are ABOUT TO begin buying corporate debt. The authorities are OUTLAWING defaults and OUTLAWING the failure of the business world so that TAXPAYERS will be liable for EVERYTHING.

Through the guise of private enterprise and keeping markets open, the Federal Reserve will purchase, by the time this is done, TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS in debt.

As I see it, the Federal Reserve will become the largest owner of toxic debt in history.

This is a form of communism and the panic that’s out there will allow these draconian measures to be implemented.

I’m seriously considering the ramifications of this. America is turning into Japan.

This is the FIRST time you’re going to be hearing about this: MY ESTIMATE is that markets are now contemplating the risk of America going under, of the government falling apart.

Bond yields are actually going UP.

Silver Eagles are selling for $22/ounce, while the spot price is around $12/ounce. Our markets are broken.

That’s not all; not by a LONG SHOT!

We are also hearing that the U.S. government, using TAXPAYERS’ money (whatever that means at this point), is considering BUYING STOCKS!

We are stretching the limits of what America even means. This is the worst transformation of our core ideas I’ve ever seen.

These are measures that put in jeopardy the mere meaning of fair competition: PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY and BEING AN INDIVIDUAL.

All laws are written, as we go along.

We are creating a new society, a new global economy, and a new paradigm.

Courtesy: Zerohedge.com

FORGET about the past. You have woken up to a new reality. The financial losses mean absolutely NOTHING, compared with the loss of LIBERTY.

The government will own real estate, stocks and bonds and will exercise TOO MUCH control over the economy.

This should CONCERN you.

The government has asked FEMA to get involved and they’ve AGREED to send paychecks to all Americans.

Every prediction that I’ve made, which five years ago was CONSIDERED TABOO, is coming true.

I discussed the day that the FED would cut back to zero. I highlighted that we’ll first see a HUGE RALLY in the dollar (because everyone is selling), and I forecasted that we will see STOCKS PURCHASED by federal agencies.

1984 is here!

Courtesy: Zerohedge.com

We are days away from seeing the GLOBAL BANKING SYSTEM freeze; a 2008 repeat.

This will require a miracle to avoid and, worst of all, the MEDIA is the main virus here – spreading PANIC that is SO overblown that I believe people will never trust it again.

TRILLIONS have been lost. The bottom line is that we’ve lost our way.

This is precisely why I have a 2nd passport, physical metals, a cash duffle bag, whole life insurance and friends in several countries.

You need to know who to trust for accurate facts, for sound reporting, and for hard evidence.

Anti-republican anti-Trump Facebook post Intelwars Museum director Super Tuesday Super tuesday 2020 taxpayers Texas

Director of taxpayer-funded museum: ‘I hope every single one of you pieces of s**t that votes Republican dies today’

The director of a Texas museum partially funded by taxpayer dollars appears to be in hot water over a message she posted to Facebook on Super Tuesday, KTXS-TV reported.

“I hope every single one of you pieces of s**t that votes Republican dies today,” Melonnie Hicks, executive director of the Pioneer City County Museum in Sweetwater, wrote, the station said.

After word spread about Hicks’ post and controversy erupted, KTXS said she issued an apology on Facebook: “I was really mad at Republicans for voting against health care since my options today are die or go into debt to see the doctor. It was gross which is [why] I deleted it.”

KTAB-TV reported that both messages were posted on Hicks’ personal Facebook page — and that both have been deleted.

The station noted that Hicks hasn’t responded to its request for comment.

Now what?

The museum’s board of directors is scheduled to hold a 5:30 p.m. emergency meeting Friday at the Sweetwater Police Department to discuss Hicks’ comment and her future with the museum, KTXS reported.

“It’s regrettable and reprehensible, especially from someone who is a community leader,” City Manager David Vela told the station in response to Hicks’ words. “Those kind of comments should never be made on social media or anywhere else.”

Vela added to KTXS that the city doesn’t stand by her statement and that he hopes the board makes the “right and responsible choice” although the board “may have a different definition of ‘right and responsible.’ Let’s just see what actions they take, and we’ll go from there.”

KTAB said it’s unclear if Hicks is still serving as museum director, but there’s no longer a Pioneer City County Museum page on Facebook, and its phone was ringing all day Thursday with no answer.

In addition, every board member declined KTAB’s request for comment, saying they won’t know anything until after Friday’s meeting.

At least one Republican wants Hicks to stick around

Joe Hyde — publisher of San Angelo Live and a Republican — wrote an op-ed saying Hicks should keep her job despite her post.

“I don’t in the least bit feel threatened by [Hicks’] off-the-cuff comment on Facebook wishing that I die,” Hyde noted. “I know Facebook is driven by creating engagement that produces long visits and lots of eyeballs on its advertisements. Facebook evokes strong emotions to keep its users scrolling. The easiest emotion to incite is anger, and Facebook’s algorithm is quite good at turning calm and peaceful people into raging lunatics. Hicks was spending too much time on Facebook and wrote something she regretted. She later explained her frustration and apologized.”

He added that “cancel culture” so prevalent today “means good people are given just one strike and they are out … Give Miss Hicks a break. She is a valuable contributor to the preservation of history in Nolan County. One strike doesn’t mean you’re out.”
