Idaho Lt. Gov. fills in while governor out of state, issues executive order banning mask mandates

When Idaho Gov. Brad Little (R) was out of state this week, Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin (R) became acting governor in Little’s absence and took the opportunity to issue an executive order banning mask mandates in the state, including those imposed by local governments.

What are the details?

Gov. Little left the state to attend the Republican Governors Association conference in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier in the week, and was due back in Idaho on Thursday evening. But before he could make it back home, the lieutenant governor decided to take full advantage of her brief elevated position of authority.

McGeachin tweeted Thursday, “Today, as acting Governor of the State of Idaho, I signed an Executive Order to protect the rights and liberties of individuals and businesses by prohibiting the state and its political subdivisions — including public schools — from imposing mask mandates in our state.”

A spokesperson for Little told the Idaho Statesman, “The Lt. Gov. did not make Governor Little aware of her executive order ahead of time.”

The Associated Press reported that just last week, McGeachin announced that she was running for governor herself. Little has not yet announced whether he will run for a second term, but if he does, the incumbent would face a GOP primary challenge from McGeachin.

The outlet reported that “McGeachin is on the far right of the political spectrum in the conservative state, and her order could bolster her support as a candidate for governor.”

“I’ve been listening to people all across the state with the concern about, especially, why are little kids being forced to wear masks in school,” McGeachin told the AP in an interview. “My oath to the Constitution is to protect those rights and freedoms of the individual, and I’ve never supported any type of a mandate on the individual, especially when it comes to health care choices.”

While some localities and school districts in Idaho issued mask orders during the coronavirus pandemic, Little never issued a statewide mask mandate. Given that fact, another fellow Republican, Idaho state House Speaker Scott Bedke, accused McGeachin of issuing the order for show.

“There were no statewide mask mandates,” Bedke told the Statesman. “So what you have here is a solution in search of a problem, and it’s political theater.”

Idaho Intelwars middle school Shooting student suspect

Sixth-grade girl shoots three at Idaho middle school, is disarmed by female teacher: police

A sixth grade girl pulled a handgun from her backpack and shot two fellow students and one adult at an eastern Idaho middle school on Thursday morning, authorities say.

According to police, the girl was disarmed by a female teacher and taken into custody shortly after the shooting, and all three victims are expected to survive their injuries.

What are the details?

“This morning, at approximately 9:08 a.m., a sixth grade female student retrieved a handgun from her backpack,” Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said during a media conference.

“She fired multiple rounds inside of the school and out,” Anderson continued. “She injured three people.”

The sheriff confirmed that the victims “were injured with gunfire.”

The Associated Press reported that police were called to Rigby Middle School at around 9:15 a.m. after gunshots were heard by students and staff.

The outlet reported:

A female teacher disarmed the girl and held her until law enforcement arrived and took her into custody, authorities said, without giving other details. Authorities say they’re investigating the motive for the attack and where the girl got the gun.

The three victims were transported to a local hospital via ambulance with injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening. The injured adult is reportedly a custodian at the school, who has since been released from the hospital.

What did one student say about the shooting?

The Idaho Falls Post Register reported:

Lucy Long, a sixth-grade student at Rigby Middle School, shared her experience from inside the school with the Post Register. She said she heard two gunshots around 9:10 a.m. She said the classroom then went under lockdown: lights and computers were turned off and the students lined up against the wall.

Lucy said she was comforting her friends and began recording, so police would know what happened if the shooter came in. The audio contained mostly whispers, with one sentence audible.

“It’s real,” one of the students is heard saying.

KTVB-TV reported that following the shooting, students were evacuated to another nearby school to be picked up by their parents or bussed home.

“Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter,” Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said after the incident. “We had a school shooting here at Rigby Middle School. What we know so far is the shooter has been apprehended. There is no further threat to the students.”

California Coeur d'Alene Dallas Economy Headline News high end homes home prices housing market Idaho increase Intelwars jobs market mass exodus realtors unemployment wake up

The Mass Exodus From The West Coast Is Driving Home Prices In Idaho To Insane Levels

This article was originally published by Micahel Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog.

Lots of people have been moving away from the west coast over the last decade, but we have never seen the sort of mass exodus that we have seen over the last year.  This mass exodus has created some extremely hot real estate markets in desirable areas located away from the coast, and according to the Wall Street Journal, the hottest real estate market in the entire country right now is Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Any house in the area that gets placed on the market is likely to spark a bidding war, and according to the Coeur d’Alene Association of Realtors, the median price of a home in the region has risen by a whopping 47 percent in the last 12 months…

The median sales price in the Coeur d’Alene region rose in March to $476,900, up 47% from a year earlier, according to the Coeur d’Alene Association of Realtors. Finding a home to buy in the metro area of about 166,000 is getting tougher: Inventory of homes for sale shrank by 71% to just 337 homes. That amounts to less than a month’s supply.

“That’s not enough to go around—therefore, every listing gets 30 offers,” Ms. Johnson said. “Since the pandemic, our market has been crazy.”

In particular, the demand for high-end homes is off the charts.

During the first two months of this year, the number of million-dollar homes sold in the Coeur d’Alene area was more than five times higher than the number sold during the first two months of 2020…

That has helped boost the number of high-end sales. In the first two months of the year, 67 homes in the area sold for $1 million and above, up from 12 sales in that price range in the first two months of 2020, Ms. Williams said.

Of course, the Coeur d’Alene region is not the only extremely hot real estate market that has been fueled by this mass exodus.

According to the Wall Street Journal, these cities round out the top 5…

Austin, Texas

Springfield, Ohio

Billings, Montana

Spokane, Washington

It is interesting to note that three of the top five hottest markets are in the Northwest.  For a variety of reasons, large numbers of people are being drawn to the region, and this has both positives and negatives.

If people want to make positive contributions to their new communities, that can be a good thing, but in too many cases new arrivals want to make their new communities just like the hellholes that they are escaping from.

According to Realtor.com, a large percentage of the people viewing Coeur d’Alene property listings are located in major cities such as Los Angeles and Seattle

About 70% of page views on Coeur d’Alene property listings came from outside the state in the first quarter, up from about 66% a year earlier, according to Realtor.com. The top metro areas for interest in Coeur d’Alene listings were Seattle, Spokane and Los Angeles.

Vast numbers of “west coast refugees” are fleeing to Texas as well.  In fact, one real estate executive based in Dallas says that “70% of the people moving in are from California”

“It’s like waiting for people to get an iPhone when it comes out,” he added. “We have lines out the door for people seeing houses all across all sorts of price points.”

Healy, who is based in Dallas, said hundreds of people per day are moving to his city. He pointed out that 70% of the people moving in are from California and increasing “luxury price points.”

Overall, home prices are much higher in the U.S. today than they were last year.

In fact, we just learned that the Case-Shiller Home Price Index has risen 12 percent over the last 12 months…

House prices soared by 12.0% from a year ago, the biggest increase since February 2006, near the peak of Housing Bubble 1, according to today’s National Case-Shiller Home Price Index for “February,” which reflects the three-month average of sales recorded in public records in December, January, and February.

But the Federal Reserve says that inflation is very low and that there is nothing to be concerned about.

Used car prices are escalating rapidly as well.  In fact, the Manheim U.S. Used Vehicle Value Index is up 52 percent over the last year…

Used car prices in the U.S. continue to skyrocket as a result of both the country’s economic recovery and an ongoing supply crunch.

The Manheim U.S. Used Vehicle Value Index has continued to soar through the month of April, to a new record, as a result of the worsening of a semiconductor shortage, low lot inventories, and a continuing post-Covid “boom”.

The index was up 6.8% in the first 15 days of April, Bloomberg noted. The index is up an astounding 52% from the same time last year to 191.4.

But the Federal Reserve says that inflation is very low and that there is nothing to be concerned about.

The price of gasoline just keeps rising as well.  It has jumped 9 percent since last month and it is up more than 22 percent overall since this time last year…

Gas prices jumped over 9% in the past month and they’re not expected to slow down anytime soon.

Gas prices are up 22.5% from the previous year and were the biggest contributor to an overall increase in goods and services in the nation, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index. Fuel prices pushed a 1-month increase in the overall price of goods for March that was the highest in nearly 9 years.

But the Federal Reserve says that inflation is very low and that there is nothing to be concerned about.

Do you believe the Fed?

I think that Fed officials should be forced to shop for lumber if they want to try to keep convincing us that inflation is very low.

According to Fortune, the price of lumber has shot up 232 percent since the start of the pandemic.

232 percent!

That is just nuts.

By the way, the book that I published last year warned way in advance that inflation would get way out of control.

Events are playing out just as we anticipated, and a lot more inflation is on the way.

Whenever a crisis arises, our leaders always flood the system with more money, and they are pushing us dangerously close to the point of no return.

First Amendment free speech Idaho Intelwars protest

Idaho lawmaker pushes bill to outlaw protesting outside officials’ homes, so protesters gather outside his home to tell him what they think

Idaho state Rep. Greg Chaney really does not like it when he sees protesters gathering outside the homes of state officials. No matter the cause, the Republican lawmaker feels that such protests are nothing but “intimidation.”

So he has introduced a bill, along with Democratic state Rep. Brooke Green, that would outlaw any picketing on the street or sidewalk in front of a person’s residence that is intended to “harass, annoy or alarm” and would make such protests a misdemeanor, the Idaho Statesman
reported.

In response, a group of Idahoans carrying torches and pitchforks gathered outside Chaney’s home Wednesday night to protest his anti-protest legislation.

What’s going on?

Chaney’s and Greene’s bill came as a response to a year that saw protests at the homes of an Ada County commissioner, a Meridian city police officer, Boise City Council members, the Boise mayor, and others, the lawmakers explained in an
op-ed for the Statesman.

“This is not protest; it is intimidation,” they wrote.

The protest at Cheney’s home followed a hearing on the bill earlier Wednesday at the Statehouse that was interrupted by a crowd of protesters,
according to the Idaho Press.

Chaney was none too pleased about the gathering at his house and took to Twitter to document the efforts of the 12 to 15 picketers.

“They say they do this because they aren’t heard — but we’d just spent hours hearing them in committee and they still showed up where my wife and kids were,” he
wrote with a photo of the crowd gathered on the sidewalk outside his home.

“They say they do this because have nowhere else to protest. I was at the Statehouse all day allowing them to insult and slander me in my own committee and they still showed up where my wife and kids were,” Chaney
continued.

Chaney also
posted a photo of a stuffed animal in a Chaney T-shirt “hung in effigy” that was reportedly carried by one of the protesters. The lawmaker said that one of his daughters asked, “[W]hy do they want to kill dad?”

“I’m more frustrated for my family than anything,” he told the Statesman.

“I was angry for my family’s sake,” he
told KTVB-TV. “I saw the stress on my wife’s face. I saw the teary eyes of my daughters.”

“Intimidation is not a democratic principle,” he added. “Argumentation, protest even, is absolutely appropriate to shape public policy. Making somebody feel unsafe and their family feel unsafe is not an appropriate way to set policy or to react to civil servants.”

Critics of the bill say it’s unconstitutional and tramples their First Amendment rights, KTVB said. Protesting at homes, they said, is the only way they feel they can be heard.

KBOI-TV
reported that police said the protesters were “peaceful and respectful” and that the group was “just a bunch of people exercising their 1st Amendment rights.” No arrests were made.

KTVB reported that law enforcement have made it clear that they are in full support of Chaney’s bill.

Block Censorship Donald Trump Facebook Idaho Intelwars Internet provider Trump banned Twitter

Internet provider to block Twitter, Facebook for customers who ask after the social media giants banned President Trump

Twitter and Facebook just got a digital glove to their faces.

It’s relatively a tiny glove — but the social media giants still might feel the sting.

What happened?

In the wake of Twitter and Facebook banning President Donald Trump following the U.S. Capitol siege that leftists — and some conservatives — say Trump incited, an internet provider in Idaho says it’s blocking Twitter and Facebook for customers who request it, KREM-TV reported.

The station said Your T1 WIFI provides internet services to North Idaho and the Spokane, Washington, area — and that it got calls from customers about both social media sites.

“It has come to our attention that Twitter and Facebook are engaged in censorship of our customers and information,” an email to Your T1 WIFI customers reads:

The above letter indicates that Your T1 WIFI had been getting calls from customers asking that it not display Facebook or Twitter, and saying they didn’t want their children to see the social media sites, either.

At first the internet provider said it would block Facebook and Twitter outright unless customers specifically asked Your T1 WIFI to allow Twitter and Facebook to be viewed — but KREM said the internet provider changed its approach Monday and said Twitter and Facebook would be blocked only for those who request such an action.

The station said the Your T1 WIFI customer forwarded to KREM additional emails from the internet provider that said two-thirds of customers wanted Twitter and Facebook blocked — and that Your T1 WIFI’s contract and acceptable use policy allows it to block anything that violates its rules or that’s “illegal or harmful to our customers and more.”

Anything else?

“Our company does not believe a website or social networking site has the authority to censor what you see and post and hide information from you, stop you from seeing what your friends and family are posting,” the initial email from Your T1 WIFI also said.

It added that “we also don’t condone what Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, and Apple are doing … to Parler by trying to strong arm them into submission.”

The station added that a representative for the Idaho attorney general said its office lacks jurisdiction in this matter. KREM also said it reached out for comment to the offices of Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, Idaho Gov. Brad Little, the Federal Communications Commission, and the Washington state attorney general.

anti-police Boise state university Coffee shop free speech Idaho Intelwars Left-wing students Thin blue line flag watch

Leftists bully pro-police coffee shop off college campus. So hundreds flock to shop’s other location in solidarity.

Hundreds of customers flocked to Big City Coffee last Friday morning, and since there was no room to hold everybody, patrons were in line far down the block.

An unusual scene to be sure at the small business in Boise, Idaho — but there was a reason so many gathered at the establishment last week.

What are the details?

See, the coffee shop closed its new location on the campus of Boise State University on Oct. 26 after some students criticized a Thin Blue Line flag displayed at the downtown shop, KTVB-TV reported.

Indeed, members of the college’s Inclusive Excellence Student Council tore into Big City Coffee at a September meeting and wondered why the franchise was allowed on campus.

One called the shop “not a safe place,” and another stated, “We are supporting an organization that blatantly supports the Thin Blue Line, and everyone [sic] black person I know has stories of being treated unfairly at this place … I believe that supporting this organization during these times is not good.”

A third council member had this to say: “This is unacceptable that it is happening. Activists in our area are being targeted and people are being harmed. This company is going to encourage this type of behavior on campus and attract those types of people to our campus. It should not be up to marginalized students to fix this. It is up to the administrators to fix this and allow for students to have a voice. We have known for half a decade that they support Thin Blue Line, and this is unacceptable and should have never happened.”

What did the coffee shop owner have to say?

Big City Coffee owner Sarah Fendley wrote on social media that she displays the Thin Blue Line flag as a message of support to police and her fiance, Boise Police Cpl. Kevin Holtry, KTVB said.

Holtry was paralyzed and had his left leg amputated above the knee after he was shot multiple times during a manhunt for a wanted felon in 2016, the station said in a previous story.

In regard to the campus controversy, university officials said the shop owner “requested to be let out of the contract. We agreed to the owner’s request. At no time did the administration at Boise State ask Big City Coffee to leave campus. At no time did the administration ask Big City Coffee to compromise the owner’s First Amendment rights.”

And while Fendley declined to comment to KTVB about the situation, Holtry said there has been a “misconception that [Fendley] left of her own free will, which is actually not even a half-truth, probably an eighth-truth, because she knew darn good and well that she wasn’t going to get the support” on campus due to an “extremely small vocal minority.”

Good news

But Holtry added to the station that he was “blown away” by the turnout at the coffee shop’s downtown location after word got out that they were no longer on the BSU campus — and the reasons why.

“This is really touching and it’s been a very amazing day — I’ve been here for two-and-a-half hours, and it’s been like this the entire time,” he told KTVB. “It shows what a great community we have, and what people really think and what people — how they live and how they support, not just first responders but local businesses and people who really commit their lives to Boise.”

ballot measure Election 2020 Idaho Intelwars oregon secession Vote

Two conservative Oregon counties vote to join Idaho

Tired of Democratic dominance in Oregon, some rural voters on Tuesday endorsed a plan to split off from the liberal state and join their conservative-friendly neighbor Idaho.

Two conservative counties approved a non-binding ballot measure to “Move Oregon’s Borders” as Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden easily carried the rest of the state, AFP reports. The measure failed in two other counties.

“In the United States, the differences between liberal and conservative… there’s hatred there,” said Mike McCarter, the chief petitioner of the ballot measure in Union and Jefferson counties.

“Populated urban areas are controlling the mass of everybody,” he told AFP.

The Democratic stronghold of Portland dominates Oregon politics statewide. The last Republican presidential candidate to win the state was Ronald Reagan in 1984. Idaho, on the other hand, is a reliable Republican state that has not voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

Neither county that approved the ballot measure borders Idaho. Union County is in the northeastern part of the state while Jefferson County is in the middle on the western half.

The ballot measure requires local officials to hold meetings about becoming part of Idaho. Forbes reports that advocates with “Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho” got the measure on the ballot as part of a “peaceful revolution” led by state conservatives.

Any proposal to change Oregon’s borders would require the consent of the state government and of Congress, making the vote largely symbolic as it is unlikely either would do so.

McCarter said his movement speaks to what rural conservatives across America feel as Democratic strongholds in cities with large populations tend to control state politics nationwide.

“It’s a definite clash between blue and red,” he told AFP. “Indiana and Illinois have got the same issue because Chicago controls all Illinois. In New York (state), New York City controls all New York.”

“It is just these large population bases,” he said. “There’s a constant rub going back-and forth on life values between urban and rural.”

The evidence for this is clear as the 2020 presidential election results become more clear. States where President Donald Trump held an early lead on election night like Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania have seen that lead diminish or flip in favor of Democratic candidate Joe Biden as major cities like Atlanta, Detroit, and Pittsburgh count their votes.

This effort to get two Oregon counties to secede and join Idaho is part of a larger dream McCarter and others have to see rural counties from Oregon, northern California, and even Nevada become “Greater Idaho” to better represent their interests.

arrest Australia CDC Censorship Conspiracy Fact and Theory Coronavirus COVID-19 Emergency Preparedness experts face masks Flu Force Government Headline News Idaho Intelwars Latah County LIES Mainstream media Manipulation Medical Tyranny Moscow New World Order outbreak plandemic Police State propaganda scamdemic United States zero deaths

Does The Coronavirus Make Our Constitutional Freedom Of Assembly Obsolete?

This article was originally published by Brandon Smith at Alt-Market.us.

Over the past couple of weeks, a trend has become apparent in the state of Idaho, specifically in Moscow, Idaho in Latah County. The city council of Moscow has issued a mandatory mask order, and they are using police to enforce it. Bizarrely, the city had ZERO deaths from Covid at the time the mask order was instituted, meaning their action was in response to…nothing.

Idaho has had a total of 500 deaths from Covid since the beginning of the outbreak. To put this in perspective, the state also has around 400 deaths from diabetes every year, and 250 deaths from the flu/pneumonia according to the CDC. Perhaps they should ban sugar, and make masks mandatory for the flu as well, just to be safe…

The residents of Moscow are not too happy with the city council’s attempt to unilaterally enforce such mandates. Church congregations in particular are fighting back by holding outdoor services without masks. The city has responded by ARRESTING the pastors of any church that dare to defy mask laws.

I bring up this specific instance of coronavirus enforcement because the circumstances surrounding it are disturbing…

First, it is not surprising that Latah County is one of the ONLY counties in Idaho that leans to the far-left politically, and the majority of the city council of Moscow is made up of leftists. Moscow is also the home of the University of Idaho. It seems wherever the political left sets up shop, constitution violating mandates on the coronavirus is prevalent. Even if a state government is predominantly more conservative and less antagonistic on lockdowns, left-leaning city and county officials have decided they are going to enforce their own restrictions anyway.

Second, the mask rules are being used against people who held meetings outdoors, and this is something I am seeing all over the world right now. Why is the science of virus behavior in outdoor open-air environments not being discussed AT ALL in the mainstream? Why is no one talking about the fact that open air and UV rays from sunlight KILL microorganisms? The chance of contracting the coronavirus outdoors is next to zero, yet mask rules are being strictly instituted from Melbourne, Australia to New York, New York to Moscow, Idaho.

Government officials must surely be aware that the science contradicts these orders. And if this is the case, then this only confirms that such restrictions are not about saving lives; they are about control.

Third, the use of targeted arrests against organizers of group events is clearly an attempt to frighten the public into compliance without confronting their concerns directly. The goal is to encourage self-censorship and to manipulate citizens to avoid public assembly without coming out openly and saying “We are banning public assembly”. It’s an end-run around the constitution, and these actions are increasing in the US.

As I have noted in past articles, I have been watching the draconian coronavirus measures in Australia and New Zealand very closely. My concerns rest on the other side of the world because what I see happening there is perhaps a beta-test for high-intensity lockdown restrictions in other western nations including America.

Restrictions in these countries are rooted in what they are calling “Level 4 lockdowns”, and include mandatory mask orders (even outside), mandatory social distancing, bans on public assembly, church closures, citizens are not allowed to travel more than 3 miles from home (essentially people are under house arrest, with only one hour per day outside to exercise), people who contract the virus or are suspected of being infected can be locked up in Covid camps for as long as government officials deem it necessary, and in New Zealand, these camps are managed by the military.

People speaking out against the lockdowns online are being arrested for “incitement”. Free speech in Australia is nearly dead.

I believe the establishment of medical tyranny is moving so quickly in Australia because the vast majority of the population has been disarmed and they have limited means to fight back. It’s an easy place to test out control measures. Protests are taking place, but without a means of self-defense the citizenry is at the mercy of government and law enforcement. If the government wants to crack down violently on anti-lockdown groups, there will be little the public can do to stop them.

What I see happening in places like Moscow, Idaho is the initial stages of medical tyranny similar to what is happening in Australia. What I see is an incremental form of totalitarianism, and it simply cannot be tolerated.

We have heard it often during this pandemic event that we are “all in this together” and the lockdowns are “serving the greater good”, but this is nonsense. The constitutional rights of public assembly and freedom of religion in particular are being stifled, and these rights ARE the greater good. They are far more important than the lives of the select few people who are susceptible to the virus.

Beyond that, why are we not talking about the number of people that are losing their jobs due to the lockdowns? How about the number of people that will die over time from poverty or depression or economic collapse because of the lockdowns? Is it not a matter of the “greater good” that we end the restrictions rather than increase them?

No virus is worth this. It would not matter if we were talking about the Black Plague. Ultimately, though, Covid affects a very small portion of the US population. The real solution to the pandemic is simple:

The people who are most susceptible should voluntarily stay home and quarantine, and the rest of us should get on with our lives with an open economy and normal constitutional rights. Why is this option not being presented?

Mask laws in particular are truly bizarre. There is little evidence that cloth masks are effective in the slightest, but the idea that “everyone must wear a mask” in order for the masks to work reveals the true nature of the restrictions.

If your mask is useless unless I also wear a mask, then the masks we are wearing are not offering much protection and their enforcement should be questioned. The fact that numerous states and counties across the US have had infection spikes even with strict mask mandates suggests to me that the masks are pointless. Even the CDC questions the effectiveness of cloth masks and recommends N95 masks for healthcare workers until there is some evidence that cloth masks function.

If the CDC doesn’t believe they work very well, then why are people even wearing them, and why are people being arrested for refusing to use them? Again, the science does not support the mandates, so they must be about control rather than saving lives. If you can get a population acclimated to having the government involved in the smallest intricacies of their lives on a daily basis then freedom goes out the window and the establishment enjoys total power to do whatever they please.

Don’t get me wrong, if a person WANTS to wear a mask, or take other precautions no matter how dubious, then I have nothing bad to say about them. That is their decision. If a business wants to require masks before entering, then that is also their right as property owners. I can choose to not shop there if I don’t like it. But it is not anyone’s right to attempt to force others to comply with their baseless rules just so they can personally feel safer. If I’m not wearing a mask and you don’t like it, then don’t come near me; it’s very easy.  As leftists like to say:  My body my choice.

Take note of how many instances we have seen so far of Mask Nazis physically attacking people not wearing masks. Isn’t this the exact opposite of what they have been preaching?  Also, take note that Mask Nazis tend to be avid supporters of BLM and Antifa mobs that ignore pandemic restrictions.  Again, they don’t care about health issues, they are angry because you are not submitting to their control.

Another terrifying development during the pandemic is the use of executive orders and executive authority to initiate restrictions without public oversight. Here is the bottom line: No government, whether it be federal, state, or local, has the power to violate your constitutional rights. Period. If a law or executive order tramples on the Bill of Rights, then it is automatically null and void and should be defied. National emergencies do no supplant the constitution, regardless of what statists might claim.

Executive orders in particular are based on nothing other than the color of law. In most cases, they do not legally apply to the citizenry, only to government employees. Real laws are passed by the legislature and are often added to a ballot to be voted on by the public. No governor, mayor, city council, or president has the authority to assert new laws without oversight like a dictator.

The political left has been quick to point out these facts whenever Donald Trump issues executive orders, yet they are also quick to defend those orders issued by states and cities to enforce unconstitutional and illegal lockdowns.

In the end, whether you respect the Bill of Rights or not, laws are meaningless unless they are backed by principles. A law that is immoral and unjust should not be followed. Government representatives that abuse their positions to assert powers that are not granted them by the constitution should be unseated. The coronavirus changes nothing – Not a thing.

I would suggest that anyone who lives in a place that is trying to enforce restrictions that are contrary to the Bill of Rights act now to disrupt what is likely an incremental march towards medical tyranny. If you don’t stand in opposition to these actions now, they will only grow over time until a majority of people become conditioned to accept them.

California bans travel to Idaho over prohibition on boys competing in girls’ sports and new birth certificate rules

If you’ve ever spent time in Idaho — especially the Treasure Valley — you’ve likely heard citizens there lament the massive influx of Californians to their conservative state. There’s a familiar refrain that SoCal hippies are going to destroy Idahoans’ way of life.

So the latest declaration from California Attorney General Xavier Becerra banning publicly funded trips to Idaho probably did not cause great consternation among the people of the Gem State.

What’s this ban?

Becerra announced in a news release from his office Monday that the state will ban government-funded trips to Idaho beginning July 1 because of two new laws that “directly authorize discrimination against the transgender community.”

He was referring to Idaho’s House Bill 500 and House Bill 509.

House Bill 500, which goes into effect July 1, prohibits biological men from competing in women’s school sports statewide.

The law, signed in March, says, “Athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls shall not be open to students of the male sex.” And it offers specific criteria for determining sex: “[A] student may establish sex by presenting a signed physician’s statement that shall indicate the student’s sex-based solely on: (a) The student’s internal and external reproductive anatomy; (b) The student’s normal endogenously produced levels of testosterone; and (c) An analysis of the student’s genetic makeup.”

It also permits testing of students to ensure that they meet the standards of biologically female athletes.

House Bill 509 blocks transgender Idahoans from changing the sex listed on their birth certificates.

The law, also set to take effect July 1, states that “the purpose of documenting factual information on vital records is to help the government fulfill one of its most basic duties: protecting the health and safety of its citizens,” and adds that “allowing individuals to alter their vital records, including birth certificates, based upon subjective feelings or experiences undermines the government’s interest in having accurate vital records.”

Becerra’s move this week is based on California AB 1887, which bans “state-funded travel to states with laws that authorize or require discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.” The ban applies to all California state agencies, departments, boards, authorities and commissions. It also applies to the state’s public university system, which would impact travel for college sporting events in Idaho.

What was the reaction in Idaho?

The Family Policy Alliance of Idaho blasted California’s move.

Blaine Conzatti, the organization’s director of advocacy, said in a statement, “Title IX was designed to protect women’s opportunities, and one of the key ways it’s been used to accomplish that is through giving women their own sports teams. The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act protects the spirit of Title IX by ensuring that girls’ sports are reserved for girls.”

“Girls deserve fair play and equal opportunities in sports today just as much as they did in 1972 when Title IX was implemented. California liberals and the ACLU are sending the message that female athletes who don’t want to compete against biological men are ‘bigoted’ and ‘intolerant,'” she continued. “In reality, they just want to compete in sports on a level playing field. This gaslighting of Idaho girls needs to stop. There is nothing discriminatory about laws that protect fair play and equal opportunities for female athletes.”

Coronavirus Coronavirus lockdown Idaho Intelwars Relief reopen america Stiimulus unemployment

Idaho offers $1,500 bonuses to get people to return to work

How do you compete with the federal government’s coronavirus unemployment plan that incentivizes people to stay unemployed?

Idaho Republican Gov. Brad Little has an
idea: Offer Idahoans a major “bonus” to get back to work.

What is Idaho doing?

When the U.S. Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed the coronavirus relief bill, critics pointed out that one very significant provision in the bill could encourage people to remain unemployed.

The $2.2 trillion bill included a $250 billion expansion for unemployment benefits that not only extended the time workers could receive benefits from 26 weeks to 39 weeks, but also added $600 per week on top of what they would normally receive for up to four months.

That $600 per week in addition what a worker normally received — typically half of a worker’s weekly wages — was what caught critics’ eyes. They noted that the upgraded unemployment benefits would encourage people not to work because they would be making more on unemployment than if they returned to work. Those concerns turned out to be warranted, as one Washington state business
demonstrated.

In order to encourage the Gem State’s population to get back to work, Gov. Little said Friday that the state will use up to $100 million in federal relief funds to give onetime bonuses of $1,500 to full-time workers and $750 to part-time workers who return to work instead of remaining on unemployment, the Idaho Statesman
said. Bonuses will also be available to laid-off workers who are already back on the job.

The plan to get people to choose work over inflated unemployment payments will cover up to 70,000 workers.

The Associated Press
reported that the governor’s budget chief, Alex Adams, said the bonus program could also be supplemented with unused money from a $300 million program set up to help small businesses in Idaho.

Little said about 60% of workers receiving unemployment benefits under the federal stimulus package are making more money on unemployment, but noted that that’s no way to rebuild an economy.

“A strong economic rebound cannot occur without workers returning to a job, and the new Return to Work cash bonuses incentivize our workforce to get back to work safely,” Little said.

Can it be done?

Critics of the move, however, say the governor is just adding another layer of bureaucracy to a state Labor Department that is already failing its citizens by mishandling unemployment claims.

The Statesman editorial board
said that the state’s “inability to provide unemployment benefits for thousands of Idahoans has become a disgrace.” According to the paper, “an untold number of Idahoans are still without benefits” — and not only have many people not seen a check, some citizens still have not been contacted about their benefits status.

More from the Statesman:

Little began his press conference by expressing his concern that people who make more money on enhanced unemployment would have no incentive to go back to work.

So he announced that the state will offer $1,500 bonuses to unemployed Idahoans who return to work rather than stay on unemployment.

Gov. Little, this is the least of your problems. You’ve got a bigger one that’s more immediate — that you need to take care of right now.

A go-back-to-work bonus payment will only add yet another layer of bureaucracy on top of a bureaucracy that’s not working.

If the state can’t efficiently get unemployment payments to all of its legitimate recipients, how does it plan to get $1,500 checks to full-time workers and $750 checks to part-time workers who return to jobs? And if Little and state officials think there won’t be hangups in distributing that money to workers, then why are there still so many problems with distributing the unemployment money?

The paper further noted that the governor’s plan includes bonuses for anyone who filed a claim since March 1, but the Labor Department has not yet even processed many of those claims.

People Surround The House Of Cop Who Arrested Idaho Mother In Park

When a mother in Idaho was arrested for playing a park with her children, the mainstream media took glee in the tyranny and made sure to try to smear her as an “anti-vaxxer.” But the people of Idaho came together and surrounded the cop’s house in a show of support for liberty.

The mainstream media, government, and elitists are panicking at the fact they are unable to control the public any loner.  This can be seen in the attempts to smear anyone who doesn’t live in fear or researchers on their own to discover the “official narrative” is bullshit.  Here’s what the Huffington Post said about Ammon Bundy, who organized the protest at the tyrannical cop’s home:

It’s the militia leader’s latest escalation in his attempt to use the COVID-19 pandemic to spread his extremist, anti-government views. –Huffington Post

The Huffington Post got the memo that many people are quickly turning against the government and the media because of this scamdemic. Their attempts to keep the public scared of people who are standing up to the government are laughable at this point. Few are buying it anymore, and we are witnessing the end of the mainstream media’s fear-mongering and the tyrannical government control over our lives.

“There was a woman at a park with her children and she was arrested!” Bundy yelled at the four or five cops standing in the driveway, watching guard over their fellow officer’s home. “Completely inappropriate.”  Bundy was referencing the arrest, earlier that day, of Sara Walton Brady, a prominent Idaho “anti-vaxxer” (oh no! Not a person who thinks they own the rights to their own body and what goes in it!) who staged a protest at a Meridian playground shuttered due to town measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Notice how now, those who stand up to tyranny, forced vaccinations, and simply want their God-given rights to freedom respected are being demonized as “anti-vaxxers?” Well, if that’s what they want to call those of us who will refuse Bill Gates’ forced vaccines, so be it. The media is losing control of the narrative they have spun for the government. It’s all crumbling beneath them, and that’s the reason they are doubling-down.  They want the masses brainwashed and incapable of thinking for themselves.

Overlooked Prepping Skill: Critical Thinking

Those who do their own research and think for themselves are now the targets of mainstream media and the governments they support. But more and more people are rejecting the notion of a ruling class and their manipulative brainwashing puppets in the media.

“The people will not allow you guys to do this for very long!” Bundy yells at the cops in the video. “You will not go into the park and arrest people! You will not go into parks and arrest mothers, and you will not go anywhere and arrest us for exercising what our rights are.”

Bundy is correct, it’s the mainstream media and the government that are on the wrong side of history.  The people are not going to tolerate tyranny for much longer. Even after this scamdemic is over, civil disobedience and standing up to the government isn’t going to stop.  The people have finally figured out who the enemy is and the more the media tries to push to blame back on to those promoting liberty, the more people will wake up to what’s been done to them by tyrants.

Freedom is no longer negotiable and people all over the globe are figuring out that they have basic human rights long denied by rulers, elitists, and those wanting to enslave them.  But the ruling class’s agenda is failing right now, before our eyes.

Arrest of Idaho mother at closed  playground with her children sparks protest

A mother-of-two was arrested by police in Meridian, Idaho, on Tuesday, after she violated the city’s ban against using playground equipment at a local park when she and other families allowed their children to play in a closed-off area.

Within hours of her interaction with law enforcement — part of which was caught on video — demonstrators congregated in front of Meridian City Hall to protest the actions of their local government.

What are the details?

Sara Brady, 40, was arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing, the Meridian Police Department announced in a press release, after officers responded to Kleiner Park following “several calls to Ada County Dispatch.”

The memo noted that “officers saw that metal signage and caution tape announcing the playground closure due to COVID-19 was removed,” and that they “observed numerous individuals gathered on the closed playground area.”

Brady, they said, had been “told to leave the playground multiple times.”

At least two videos of Brady’s interaction with police began circulating across the internet.

One shows the mother arguing to police that she and others were not trespassing, and asking the officers if they were “going to arrest everyone for not social distancing over there,” while pointing to people off camera.

After counting to five, an officer handcuffs Brady, and as she is walked off, another woman from behind the camera can be heard yelling, “Her kids are here! Her kids are here? What is going to happen? Who’s got her kids?”

In a second video, two officers are seen walking Brady through a gathering of other mothers holding young children as they walk her off the premises in handcuffs. A woman can be heard asking an officer as Brady is carted off, “As a person, does this make sense to you? As a person—not as a police officer, as a person—does this make sense to YOU?”

A crowd appeared to congregate in front of the police vehicle before the video ends.

According to department, “Meridian officers made several attempts to help Brady adhere to the rules. She was non-compliant and forced officers to place her under arrest to resolve the issue.”

Police responded to the park at around 3:50 p.m., and in short order, a crowd gathered outside city hall to protest Brady’s arrest. A link showing the demonstration was posted to Facebook and reported on by KBOI-TV.

A few people have started to rebel against the government’s tyranny disguised as a way to fight a pandemic.  Ammon Bundy is no stranger to fighting authoritarianism, and now he’s going to hold a massive 1000+ person gathering for Easter in defiance of the government’s orders.

Some will refuse to be enslaved, and Bundy is one of those.  His Easter gathering can be considered nothing short of a middle finger to tyranny. Bundy was one of the men behind the 41-day militia standoff at an Oregon wildlife refuge in 2016 and the Bundy Ranch standoff in 2014.

Idaho Governor Brad Little announced a stay-at-home order in the state on March 25, and Bundy says he will not comply. He has also been hosting meetings with dozens of like-minded people discussing ways to defy the order. During one of the meetings that was filmed and posted to Facebook, Bundy said that he will personally help provide a legal, political and physical defense to Idaho residents who are planning to ignore the governor’s order, according to a report by The Gateway Pundit

The world needs more order defiers, not more order followers. When speaking to the New York Times, Bundy said that his group is looking for a venue to host a thousand-person Easter service in his state.

“Please help us find this venue so those wanting to worship and honor God on this eventful day, can do so. We are willing to pay for the use of the building, if it is not donated,” Bundy wrote in a Facebook post. “We must stand together in times such as these.”

In a Facebook Live video about his Easter plans, Bundy said that he has been receiving hate mail and death threats over the event.  But that’s expected when one of the slaves steps out of line.

Bundy isn’t alone.  A handful of politicians have been stepping up against the authoritarian power grabs of state governors and the federal government. Idaho Representative Heather Scott posted a video to the Idaho Legislature’s website last week titled “The Virus that Tried to Kill the Constitution-COVID, The Constitution and Cause for Concern.”

“Our government is founded on the principle that each of us has inalienable rights that come from God, and that the government’s role is to protect those rights.  Some of our rights include life, liberty, the right to possess and protect our property (a business is a property), the right to speak freely, the right to defend ourselves, the right to freedom of assembly, and the right of equal protection.  Our government cannot take those rights, even in times of emergency,” Scott said.

Likewise, North Idaho Representative Pastor Tim Remington said that church gatherings act as an essential service and are necessary for some worshipers during times of uncertainty caused by coronavirus.

A lawmaker in neighboring Wyoming is also speaking out against the power-hungry governor, who not only threatened people with martial law, has the entire economy of the state shut down over 216 cases with not a single death recorded. Gillette lawmaker Scott Clem says the state needs to ease up on the restrictions and stop making the solution worse than the virus.

It’s nice to finally see some people standing up for their basic human rights and dignity and to see that there are a few politicians noticing that it isn’t right to lock people down.

Americans have suffered under the boot of tyranny long enough. Resistance to the house arrest orders and pushback against the bans from making a living are finally surfacing in large numbers.  Have people finally realized they are not slaves to be controlled by a few power-hungry politicians?

Across the country, from political leaders to small business owners, to parents who just want to take their children to the park, resistance is growing to the authoritarians who have effectively suspended the Constitution and placed most of the country under house arrest.

Lawsuits are also challenging unlawful “stay at home” orders. What if all the hysteria-driven orders have actually made the virus outbreak even worse? More scientists are coming forward to argue for the “Sweden model” of moderation rather than lockdown.

In Dr. Ron Paul’s latest Liberty report, he says this frustration is positive.

Dr. Ron Paul On Coronavirus Panic: The Real Danger “Is The Government’s Overreaction”

As Americans begin to lose patience with their enslavement and the tyranny of almost every governor in this country, the government should see themselves as on borrowed time.  “Fauci is losing credibility,” says Dr. paul. Give the people back their natural right to freedom of speech, peaceful assembly, and the ability to make a living.

Dr. Paul says there’s a group of people in Idaho that are on the right side of human rights and the Constitution vocally standing up to the authoritarians who attempted to enslave the entire public.

Paul and Daniel McAdams discussed the psychological impact of fear this has had on the general public. The fear has led to people accepting their chains, yet that’s beginning to change. If governors and the federal government do no want to go down in history in the same manner as other tyrants, they would do well to give people back their rights and to never attempt this type of enslavement again.

End the Shutdown; It’s Time for Resurrection!

Life in and of itself is a risk, and personally, I’m not interested in facing tyranny for any reason, but let alone because of a pandemic.  One of those we can stand against as they have done in Idaho, and the other we can take voluntary individual actions to lessen its impact without destroying our neighbors’ lives in the process.

The Huge Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake That Just Hit Idaho Continues Alarming Trend Of Western Quakes

Why has the western United States suddenly been shaking so violently over the past several weeks?  On Tuesday, the constant barrage of headlines about the coronavirus pandemic was interrupted by an enormous earthquake that hit central Idaho.  Of course Idaho is not exactly known for earthquakes, and so this was quite a surprise.  In fact, the largest quake in Idaho history was the magnitude 6.9 Borah Peak earthquake in 1983.  So when a magnitude 6.5 earthquake stuck not too far from Boise on Tuesday, it really stunned a whole lot of people.  And according to the Spokesman-Review, this quake could be felt as far away as Calgary

An earthquake hit southern Idaho on Tuesday afternoon, with shakes felt as far as Calgary, Canada, Boise and Spokane.

The United States Geological Survey measured a 6.5-magnitude earthquake at a depth of 10 miles just before 5 p.m. The center of the quake took place about 45 miles west of Challis, Idaho.

This is an event that those living up in the Northwest will remember for a long time to come.  There was a tremendous amount of shaking all over the region, and according to at least one report some people actually “ran outside yelling”…

An entry in Volcano Discovery said: “Sustained moderate shaking for several minutes, Rumbling sound heard, people ran outside yelling. Knickknacks fell off shelf.

“Items suspended from ceiling/beams still slightly swaying 10 minutes later.”

All the way over in Helena, Montana someone described the shaking like being “on a small ship at sea during a storm”, and a restaurant owner in Stanley, Idaho reported that “the water next to me is still vibrating”

Brett Woolley, a restaurant owner in Stanley, said he heard earthquake coming before he felt it.

“I heard the roar, and at first it sounded like the wind but then the roar was tremendous,” Woolley said about 10 minutes after the earthquake. “The whole house was rattling, and I started to panic. I’m sitting here perfectly still and the water next to me is still vibrating.”

The epicenter of this earthquake was approximately 78 miles from Boise and approximately 330 miles from Yellowstone.

Needless to say, any major seismic event anywhere near Yellowstone is a cause for concern.

And of course this quake comes less than two weeks after a magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit near Salt Lake City on March 18th

An earthquake struck near Salt Lake City Wednesday morning, shutting down a major air traffic hub, damaging a spire atop a temple and frightening millions of people already on edge from the coronavirus pandemic.

Though there were no reports of injuries and no damage was immediately reported in areas along the Utah-Idaho border, there was damage scattered in the Salt Lake City area — with the earthquake showering bricks onto sidewalks and releasing a chemical plume outside the city.

In fact, that quake caused so much shaking that it actually knocked the trumpet out of the grasp of the statue of the angel Moroni

The 5.7-magnitude earthquake that shook Utah Wednesday morning also dislodged a symbolic part of Salt Lake City’s iconic Mormon temple: the trumpet of an angel statue atop its highest spire.

The temple is the spiritual focal point for the 16 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Following that dramatic seismic event, there have been hundreds of aftershocks.

And remember, this is not a part of the country that is known for lots of quakes.

According to the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, there had already been 658 aftershocks from that event as of Monday morning

More than 600 earthquakes have hit across Utah and surrounding areas after a 5.7-magnitude quake struck near Salt Lake City about two weeks ago, according to University of Utah Seismograph Stations.

As of Monday morning, the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, or UUSS, recorded 658 earthquakes as part of a series of aftershocks.

Of course there will be plenty of aftershocks following the quake that just hit Idaho as well.

As I write this article, there have already been five aftershocks greater than magnitude 3.0 that have hit the region.  By the time you read this article, that number may be substantially higher.

With all of this shaking going on in Idaho and Utah, many on the west coast may be wondering if they are next.

According to CalTech, there have been more than 1,100 earthquakes in California and Nevada over the last 7 days.  A couple of magnitude 5 quakes struck off the coast of northern California during March, and that certainly rattled some nerves, but everyone understands that something far, far larger is eventually coming.

For years, scientists have been telling us that “the Big One” is way overdue and that we are not prepared for it.

And for years I have been warning people about what will eventually happen if they remain on the California coastline.

We live at a time when everything that can be shaken will be shaken.  The crust of our planet is becoming increasingly unstable, and this latest earthquake in Idaho is yet another example.

In Luke 21:11, Jesus told us the following about what things would be like in the last days…

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

You may have noticed that a “pestilence” is rapidly spreading across the face of the globe right now.

And at the same time, enormous earthquakes keep popping off like firecrackers with frightening regularity.

Unfortunately, most Americans don’t understand the bigger picture, and what we have experienced so far is just the beginning…

ACLU threatens to sue if Idaho passes law banning biological males from competing against biological females in sports

LGBT groups are decrying the state government in Idaho as a bill banning biological males from competing against biological females in sports comes closer to becoming a legal reality.

The bill was approved by the Senate and will go the House for approval. Critics say the bill is unconstitutional and allows for discrimination against transgender persons.

Supporters of the law say it will protect females from unfair competition by biological males.

“It started to level the playing field. But now we are in a new crisis,” said Republican Sen. Mary Souza according to the Associated Press.

“Girls who have been struggling and training and competing in their sport are suddenly confronted by biological males,” she explained.

Trangender advocates and supporters complained about the bill on social media.

“The notion the Idaho House would spend time during #CoronavirusOutbreak looking for new ways to persecute transgender people is just beyond the pale. Don’t do this,” pleaded Montel Williams.

“While the world grapples with #coronavirus the Idaho Senate focused on discriminating by legislating against #transgender people and voting 24-11 to pass a bill barring transgender girls and women from women’s high school and college sports teams,” said Democratic strategist Meghan Stabler.

“We will sue”

The ACLU promised legal action if the governor signed the bill.

“The Idaho Senate just passed a bill targeting trans student athletes. This bill could subject any student athlete to invasive screenings,” the ACLU tweeted. “If @GovernorLittle signs this bill, we will sue.”

Here’s more about the proposed Idaho law:

abuse Commissioner County commission Idaho Idaho courthouse Intelwars Lincoln county idaho Local Government Recording Rick ellis Roy hubert Shoshone idaho transparency Video Video Recording Vote to ban

Small Idaho county steamrolled by commissioners who ignore public interest and ban video recording of meetings

Many Americans pay far more attention to issues pertaining to federal and state governments than they do issues pertaining to their local governing bodies, but it is often those bodies — the ones closest to home — that have the most profound impact on a citizen’s day-to-day life.

An example of this is playing out in Lincoln County, Idaho, where disgruntled residents have taken issue with county commissioners for allegedly steamrolling the will of the people.

What happened?

In a controversial move Monday, the county commissioners voted to ban video recording of their public meetings. The motion was passed when commissioners Rick Ellis and Roy Hubert voted in favor of the ban and Commission Chairwoman Rebecca Wood cast the only dissenting vote.

The commissioners’ decision to ban the video recordings also went over and against the advice of the county’s legal counsel.

County prosecutor Richard Roats advised the commissioners that banning video without sufficient reason could be considered “arbitrary and capricious” in a court of law.

According to the Twin Falls Times-News, multiple residents in attendance at the meeting spoke out against the ban, and one constituent renewed a call for Ellis and Hubert to resign. A petition to recall the two commissioners has reportedly been circulating for weeks since the two pushed for a bond to build a new courthouse instead of preserving the county’s historic courthouse.

“This is not about one commissioner or another commissioner or even about one issue,” [County Clerk Brenda] Farnworth said before asking the commissioners not to ban video recordings at the meetings. “It’s a bigger issue. It’s about being open and transparent with the public.”

“Why are we debating transparency in government?” she asked.

Resident Jann Thomsen agreed: “Why would you not want transparency in government?” Thomsen asked.

Government “is for the people, by the people,” county resident Steven King told the commissioners. “We are the people. … We need transparency in government…”

Reportedly, just one resident expressed support for the measure.

What’s the background?

The clash over whether to record the meetings or not was sparked one week earlier when County Clerk Brenda Farnworth set up a cellphone to record the County Commission meeting and livestream it onto Facebook. In the video, Ellis can be seen demanding that the video be shut off. When chairwoman Wood refused to have the recording stopped, Ellis walked out.

Ellis and Hubert’s decision to ban video of the meetings is made worse by the fact that the two commissioners are currently under threat of removal. According to a February report from the Times-News, petitioners have been gathering signatures to force a recall vote on the pair suggesting they sabotaged an effort to preserve the county’s historic courthouse.

The two reasons listed in the petition are “willful disregard for the wishes and desires of the public which the Commissioner represents” and “deliberately ignoring the results of two public surveys and the recommendation of an advisory committee regarding the renovation of our Historic Courthouse and becoming ADA compliant.”

Surveys taken before the vote reportedly showed that more than two-thirds of respondents desired to see the courthouse preserved.

Furthermore, in a controversial budget approval in 2017 — before Ellis and Hubert were elected but while Wood sat on the commission — commissioners voted to make the job full-time and give themselves a nearly 66% pay raise from about $19,000 a year to just over $31,000 a year.

Even then, residents were beginning to distrust their governing body and wanted more transparency.

“They’ve added extra days a week, and they say they’re on all of these boards,” one former commissioner said ahead of the budget vote. “Well that’s true, but we’ve always been on extra boards.”

“Elected officials know ahead of time what the compensation is and what the job description entails,” another resident said. “When they put their name on the ballot, that’s a contract.”
