Gay cop blasts LGBTQ group for banning NYPD officers from city’s Pride March: ‘Maddeningly absurd’

A gay New York City police officer blasted an LGBTQ group for banning NYPD cops from the city’s annual Pride March and related events — a move that will be in effect until at least 2025.

What’s the background?

Over the weekend, NYC Pride announced the police ban as part of an effort to make LGBTQ individuals feel “safer” and challenge officers to “acknowledge their harm.” The group’s press release argued that the move would “create safer spaces for the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities at a time when violence against marginalized groups, specifically BIPOC and trans communities, has continued to escalate.”

What did the police officer who disagrees have to say?

The ban didn’t sit well with Ravi Satkalmi, a gay man who’s deputy director of intelligence analysis for the NYPD’s Intelligence Bureau.

So Satkalmi penned an op-ed for the New York Daily News, noting that in June 2019 — while delivering the first-ever security brief to the LGBTQ community in preparation for Pride — he “took the opportunity to publicly acknowledge my identity as a gay man, knowing I had the support of my colleagues and my leadership.”

He added, however, that he didn’t expect that “just two years after NYPD welcomed me out of the closet … Heritage of Pride would effectively try to shove me back in.”

Noting that Heritage of Pride is the organizing body of NYC Pride, Satkalmi said the group “indefensibly decided to ban law enforcement from its events — including the flagship Pride March — until at least 2025. The move makes absolutely clear that one has to choose between being gay or being in law enforcement, recreating for queer officers the unconscionable conundrum that we have fought decades to banish. The irony would be laughable if it wasn’t maddeningly absurd.”

Satkalmi added in his op-ed that previous to that day in 2019, he was involved with the Gay Officers Action League, which “advocates for and implements law enforcement reforms responsive to the needs of LGBTQIA+ officers and public. GOAL’s leadership and support allowed me to finally reconcile my public service with my private self. I took to the stage in 2019 to pay it forward.”

More from Satkalmi’s Daily News op-ed:

I had assumed then that Heritage of Pride, which had been a close partner of GOAL and which relied on the NYPD for the security of their highest-profile event, would support us. Instead, with this ban, it drastically undercut our ability to encourage LGBTQIA+ law enforcement members to stand up and be counted. For a new gay officer or recruit who is struggling with whether to come out, the message is unmistakable: The LGBTQIA+ community will not support you.

The move is self-defeating. There is no progress without people willing to do the work inside of organizations whose cultural inertia makes them resistant to change. Those people, in turn, need the support of the larger LGBTQIA+ community. I know such support exists more broadly. For several years, I’ve marched with GOAL for Pride alongside uniformed and civilian professionals representing a number of domestic and international law enforcement agencies. Each time our presence on the route has been met with deafening cheers, high-fives, and sincere embraces from the community. Given that support, the ban is a bewildering move by Heritage of Pride to drive apart natural partners in change. In an age of meme-derived capital valued in likes, shares and views, the decision is yet another example in which performative politics is mistaken for thoughtful deliberation and real effort.

Satkalmi concluded his piece by declaring that he’s a “gay, non-Christian, person of color, and first-generation American serving with NYPD. People like me exist: those whose personal identity may fly in the face of activists’ expectations of what our role in change should be.”

He added that efforts by Pride officials to keep him “hidden” are “enraging”: “I’ve spent far too long coming out of the closet to be put back in now.”

Black Lives Matter HYPOCRISY Intelwars Jason Whitlock Patrisse khan-cullors suspended Topanga canyon Twitter watch

Jason Whitlock suspended by Twitter after criticizing Black Lives Matter leader — but he refuses to bow to social media giant to get his account back

Conservative journalist Jason Whitlock was suspended by Twitter after he criticized Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors for her $1.4 million home purchase in “1.4 percent” black Topanga Canyon in Southern California.

But Whitlock insisted Monday he has no intention of bowing to the social media giant in order to get his account unblocked: “I’m not running to go post Twitter bail when I did nothing wrong.”

What’s the background?

Khan-Cullors was sharply criticized last week over numerous reports that she had purchased the pricey home — particularly given her self-described Marxist ideology. What’s more, reports noted that Khan-Cullors had purchased three other homes since 2016 for a grand total of $3.2 million in real estate.

Upon hearing the news, Hawk Newsome — leader of Black Lives Matter Greater New York City — demanded an “independent investigation.”

Whitlock joined in on the criticism: “Black Lives Matter founder buys $1.4 million home in Topanga, which has a black population of 1.4 percent,” he tweeted Friday. “She’s with her people!”

Hours later, however, Whitlock said Twitter suspended him:

Twitter told Whitlock that he violated the platform’s rules for posting personal information about others without their permission.

He added to the Daily Mail that Twitter “said I needed to remove the tweet that linked the dirt.com story about Cullors buying a house in Topanga.”

But the outlet noted that “there was no explanation of how linking to the Dirt.com story revealed personal information as neither the story, nor Whitlock’s tweet, listed an address — and the purchase also was discussed widely elsewhere on Twitter and reported throughout the press.”

The Daily Mail said Twitter didn’t respond to its request for comment.

“I think Twitter has been looking for an excuse to de-platform me,” Whitlock added to the outlet.

Whitlock won’t back down

In an interview posted Monday to ScoonTV on YouTube, Whitlock told host Curtis Scoon that he refuses to cave to Twitter in order to get his account unblocked.

“I’m still in Twitter jail because I won’t post bail,” Whitlock said, adding that “I’m not running to go post Twitter bail when I did nothing wrong.”

As for Khan-Cullors’ expensive home purchase choice in a nearly all-white neighborhood, Whitlock said “I just find it hypocritical” given her position with Black Lives Matter and her Marxist ideology: “There’s so much hypocrisy here. She’s acting like a capitalist.”

In regard to Twitter’s ruling, Whitlock said that “they want you to remove the tweet to start your 12-hour sentence … Why should I remove the tweet when you can’t access the tweet? They’ve made it so you can’t get it. The tweet has already been disappeared by Twitter. Why do I have to remove it to start the clock on my jail time? And so literally I sat back and said, ‘I’m going to do nothing, and just let’s see where this story goes.'”

And lo and behold, Whitlock observed, “the story is going where I thought it would go.”

Speaking of Black Lives Matter, Whitlock said that he wants others to realize that “it’s all a hustle; they’re not promoting anything real.”

Since BLM’s inception, he asked, “What has been their impact other than people looting stores and getting big-screen TVs? Has there been some incredible police reform all across the country?”

In the end, Whitlock emphasized that his story “is going exactly how I wanted it to go” and that “I’m gonna remain in Twitter jail: I’m gonna wallow in this victimhood like they like to do.”

Here’s his interview with ScoonTV. (Content warning: Language):

Biden administration HYPOCRISY Intelwars Kamala Harris Marijuana WHITE HOUSE White house marijuana White house staffers

Biden White House reportedly weeds out dozens of staffers for past pot use despite Kamala Harris bragging about using cannabis

Dozens of White House staffers were suspended, asked to resign, or forced into a remote work program because of their past marijuana use, according to a report from the Daily Beast.

Young White House staffers revealed their use of cannabis in an official document they were required to fill out as part of the background check to work at the White House. The staffers allege that they were assured by officials in Biden’s administration that recreational marijuana use would not be a disqualifying factor, three people familiar with the situation informed the Daily Beast.

The staffers were reportedly “pleased” that the Biden administration was so open-minded about cannabis.

“In some cases, staffers were informally told by transition higher-ups ahead of formally joining the administration that they would likely overlook some past marijuana use, only to be asked later to resign,” the report stated.

Some of the staffers used marijuana in places where cannabis use is legal for adults, which includes 15 states and Washington, D.C.

However, sources claim that the Biden administration weeded out those who had used marijuana, and “young staffers were either put on probation or canned because they revealed past marijuana use.”

“The policies were never explained, the threshold for what was excusable and what was inexcusable was never explained,” a staffer told the Daily Beast.

Last month, NBC News reported that “past marijuana use won’t automatically disqualify Biden White House staff.”

“Though marijuana use is legal in a growing number of cities and states, it’s still illegal under federal law and is therefore a potentially disqualifying factor in obtaining security clearances,” NBC News stated. “Transition officials quickly identified recreational marijuana use as a potential hurdle for applicants, especially younger ones, in meeting that requirement.”

An official in the Biden administration reportedly said that the candidates who used cannabis in the past would be considered eligible on a “case-by-case basis.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said five staffers were fired because of past marijuana use, despite the updated guidelines detailed by NBC News.

“We announced a few weeks ago that the White House had worked with the security service to update the policies to ensure that past marijuana use wouldn’t automatically disqualify staff from serving in the White House,” Psaki tweeted on Friday. “As a result, more people will serve who would not have in the past with the same level of recent drug use. The bottom line is this: of the hundreds of people hired, only five people who had started working at the White House are no longer employed as a result of this policy.”

A White House spokesperson said the Biden administration is “committed to bringing the best people into government—especially the young people whose commitment to public service can deepen in these positions.”

“The White House’s policy will maintain the absolute highest standards for service in government that the president expects from his administration, while acknowledging the reality that state and local marijuana laws have changed significantly across the country in recent years,” the spokesperson said. “This decision was made following intensive consultation with career security officials and will effectively protect our national security while modernizing policies to ensure that talented and otherwise well-qualified applicants with limited marijuana use will not be barred from serving the American people.”

Coincidentally, one person in the White House who has used marijuana in the past is Vice President Kamala Harris.

In February 2019, Harris appeared on the New York-based “The Breakfast Club” radio talk show, where she bragged about smoking weed.

Co-host Charlamagne Tha God asked Harris if she is opposed to legalizing marijuana. “That’s not true. And look I joke about it, half-joking — half my family’s from Jamaica, are you kidding me,” Harris replied while boisterously laughing.

Donald Harris, Kamala’s father, was offended by his daughter’s comment about Jamaicans smoking marijuana and declared, “My dear departed grandmothers, as well as my deceased parents, must be turning in their grave right now to see their family name, reputation and proud Jamaican identity being connected, in any way, jokingly or not with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot-smoking joy seeker and in the pursuit of identity politics.”

“Speaking for myself and my immediate Jamaican family, we wish to categorically dissociate ourselves from this travesty,” he added.

Charlamagne Tha God then asked Kamala if she has ever smoked marijuana, and she responded, “I have. And I inhaled — I did inhale,” as she laughed openly. “It was a long time ago. But, yes.”

She said she used cannabis in college, and she smoked the drug in the form of a joint. There are questions as to the timeline of the vice president’s marijuana use, and whether or not she smoked marijuana in college or when she was a deputy district attorney, where she enforced drug laws.

Elton John calls Vatican hypocritical for refusing to bless same-sex unions when it got ‘millions’ from investing in ‘Rocketman’ biopic

Iconic singer-songwriter Elton John blasted the Vatican for its headline-grabbing decree, approved by Pope Francis, that it will not bless same-sex unions since God “does not and cannot bless sin.”

But John also called out the Vatican for a hypocritical stance:

“How can the Vatican refuse to bless gay marriages because they ‘are sin,’ yet happily make a profit from investing millions in ‘Rocketman’ — a film which celebrates my finding happiness from my marriage to David [Furnish]??” John said in a Monday tweet that included a screenshot of a 2019 Daily Beast story, “How the Vatican Spent Millions on Elton John’s Biopic.”

The outlet’s story said a financier connected to the Vatican spent $4.5 million on “Men in Black: International” and “Rocketman,” the latter of which was “the first studio movie to portray gay sex between men in an authentic way.”

“While investing in mainstream entertainment is hardly sinful, the great contradiction is that the Catholic Church preaches to the devout that homosexuality is a sin,” the Daily Beast said. The Vatican at the time told the outlet that the expenditures were being investigated.

Anything else?

The Vatican’s decree didn’t single out same-sex relationships, saying the Catholic Church could not “impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex.”

Although it added that “the blessing of homosexual unions cannot be considered licit. This is because they would constitute a certain imitation or analogue of the nuptial blessing invoked on the man and woman united in the sacrament of Matrimony, while in fact ‘there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family.'”

Rolling Stone reported about the Vatican’s statements on its website under the banner headline “Guess the Cool Pope Isn’t So Cool After All.” Francis has gained a reputation among the left wing for being woke on issues such as wealth redistribution, socialism, and environmentalism — but not abortion.

The pope’s critics also have pointed out that he was hypocritical for calling homosexuality a sin while numerous priests stand accused of pedophilia — which Francis has condemned.

HYPOCRISY Intelwars Kyrsten Sinema minimum wage sexism

Kyrsten Sinema fires back at critics angered after she opposed wage hike by using left’s own standards

Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) was sharply criticized by Democrats on Friday for voting against a proposal to include a minimum wage hike in the latest coronavirus-related economic relief package. Sinema was one of eight Senate Democrats who opposed the effort.

In response to critics, Sinema used Democrats’ own standards against them.

What did critics say?

Sinema’s critics focused their outrage on her appearance and the manner in which she voted against the proposal.

HuffPost characterized Sinema as using “an exaggerated thumbs-down hand gesture” to display her opposition.

More from HuffPost:

Although hand gestures are commonplace on the Senate floor, particularly in the coronavirus era, Sinema’s casual body language was disappointing to some who saw the gesture as belittling the fight to end poverty wages.

Other critics focused on the name brand bag Sinema was carrying when she voted against the proposal.

“I am insane and zoomed in on another picture of her carrying and in the spirit of Edward R. Murrow-level journalism I’m humbled to announce in a parody of white feminism Krysten Sinema [sic] voted against a $15 living wage while carrying a giant Lululemon bag,” comedy writer Bess Kalb said on Twitter.

Other critics compared Sinema to Marie Antoinette for bringing chocolate cake with her into the Senate chamber.

“She’s decided she’s going to be a media darling as Marie Antoinette of the establishment. Dress in a super fun way, do performatively hip thumbs downs as she votes to kill higher wages & now rub it in with symbolic cake we can all eat instead of higher salaries,” far-left pundit Cenk Uygur said.

How did Sinema respond?

Hannah Hurley, a spokeswoman for Sinema, denounced the critics, implying they are violating Democrats’ own standards regarding comments about women.

“Commentary about a female senator’s body language, clothing, or physical demeanor does not belong in a serious media outlet,” Hurley told HuffPost.

Anything else?

Sinema released a statement after voting against the proposal explaining that she supports raising wages, but opposes doing so in legislation supposedly meant to address pandemic woes.

“Senators in both parties have shown support for raising the federal minimum wage and the Senate should hold an open debate and amendment process on raising the minimum wage, separate from the COVID-focused reconciliation bill,” Sinema explained.

Bodycam video Democrat hypocrisy DUI HAWAII HYPOCRISY Intelwars Political hypocrisy Sharon har

Hawaii Democrat who railed against drunk driving for years seen on video being arrested for suspected DUI

A Democratic lawmaker from Hawaii who helped usher in tough penalties for drunk driving was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. Authorities released police bodycam video of Hawaii state Rep. Sharon Har (D) being arrested after allegedly driving the wrong way down a one-way street in her 2019 Mercedes-Benz.

This week, investigators released footage of Har’s arrest in Honolulu that happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Feb. 22, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

“I observed her eyes to be red and glassy in appearance and her speech seemed to be slightly slurred,” Sgt. Adam Lipka wrote in the incident report. “While speaking with HAR at her driver’s window with it fully down and about 3-4 feet from HAR when I briefly lowered my facemask I could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from her breath and the interior of the vehicle.”

“Sharon spoke with a slow, slurred speech, and had red, glassy eyes,” officer Christopher Morgado wrote. “I could smell a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic type beverage coming from within the vehicle, and would get stronger as she spoke.”

Har told the officers that she had just left a restaurant, where she said she consumed one beer.

Morgado noted in the report that Har asked him “if I knew who she is. Sharon then related that she was going to be the next Governor, but ‘this’ will mess up her plans.”

During her arrest, Har “stated ‘Black Lives Matter'” and asked officers “to hurry up because she needed to call people,” Cpl. Clinton Ono wrote.

Officer Dan Ting wrote, “HAR began to scream, yelling ‘owe’ and that officers were hurting her. HAR would then stop, and state ‘black lives matter.'”

Har reportedly refused to take a breath or blood test and refused to sign the documents. Coincidentally, Har helped implement the legislation that revokes the driver’s license for two years of anyone who refuses to take a breath or blood test following suspicion of driving under the influence.

onolulu Police Department

While she was being booked at a Honolulu Police Department station, Har allegedly told Morgado “that she introduced the ‘interlock’ to Hawaii, and is responsible for it being implemented.”

In 2008, Har introduced legislation to require the interlock, an in-car breathalyzer that prevents a person from starting a vehicle until a breath alcohol test is taken. On her website, she lists the legislation requiring the installation of ignition interlock for people arrested for DUI as one of her crowning “accomplishments.”

“She was the one that pushed it. She was the champion of it,” said attorney Patrick McPherson. “She was the person who introduced the legislation into the Legislature. She was the sponsor of the bill to require interlock. At that point you were going to be revoked from driving or a first-time violation would require the use of the interlock.”

Har purportedly pushed tough laws against drunk driving in 2008 after she survived a crash with a drunk driver the previous year.

Officer Morgado wrote, “Sharon was unsteady on her feet and would constantly readjust her footing, even though we were standing still while reading paperwork.”

Har issued a public apology, which stated she had taken a prescription cough medication with codeine for an upper respiratory illness that had lasted several weeks. The 52-year-old Democrat claimed that she had a single beer with dinner on the night of her arrest.

“This, in conjunction with my medication, contributed to my impaired driving,” Har said in her statement. “I am extremely sorry for not anticipating the effect of this combination on my driving. I deeply apologize to my constituents, friends, family and colleagues, and to the public for this failure on my part. I would like to express my gratitude to the officers of the Honolulu Police Department for the professional manner in which they conducted their duty in effecting my arrest.”

However, at the time of the arrest, Har told officers “that she is not currently taking prescription medication,” according to Morgado.

Har also was reportedly cited for having no proof insurance and for driving the wrong way on a one-way street, KHON-TV reported. She was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant. She was released on $500 bail and is scheduled to make a court appearance on April 20.

Berkeley teachers’ union president caught dropping off kid at in-person private school despite fighting against reopening schools

Matt Meyer is the president of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers, the union that represents public educators in the notoriously liberal city, and has staunchly fought against reopening schools until all teachers have received the coronavirus vaccine.

But that has not stopped Meyer from taking his own daughter to a private school operating in person.

What happened?

Berkeley parents angry over their children being stuck in distance learning — despite guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that say schools can safely reopen without every teacher having received the COVID vaccine — followed Meyer, camera in hand, to catch the union president in stunning hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy: Matt Meyer Berkeley Federation of Teachers President

www.youtube.com

The parents caught Meyer dropping off his 2-year-old daughter at a private preschool that is operating with in-person instruction, KQED-TV reported.

Dr. Shelene Stine — who has one child that attends the same private preschool as Meyer’s daughter and an older child in the Berkeley Unified School District — blasted Meyer for taking his daughter to a private, in-person school despite supporting the continued closure of public schools.

“I am a physician. It is definitively the scientific agreement that it is possible to deliver safe in-person education,” Stine told KQED. “It’s infuriating to know Matt Meyer says kids can’t wear masks when kids in his preschool wear them all day long.”

Jonathan Zachreson, the founder of Reopen California Schools, told KQED Meyer’s action were clear hypocrisy.

“It’s completely opposite of what he’s pushing,” Zachreson said. “So why is that safe for him and those people who work there [at the preschool], but not for all of the kids in Berkeley Unified and the teachers? The answer is: It is safe.”

How did Meyer respond?

The union president responded to critics by citing his “personal choice” to send his daughter to the school of his choice.

“I have my two-year-old in preschool. Unfortunately, there are not public schools for kids her age,” Meyer told KQED on Sunday.

Meyer also claimed that preschools like the one his daughter attends are “completely different universe from an elementary school in terms of size, services provided, outside space, and public health guidelines. I don’t have elementary school-aged children.”

When will Berkeley schools reopen?

Berkeley public schools have been shut down for in-person learning since the pandemic began last spring.

That will finally change this month after the Berkeley teachers’ union reached an agreement with the Berkeley Unified School District.

“Students in preschool through second grade would return to class on March 29, according to the agreement. Those in grades 3 through 9 would return on April 12. High schoolers in grades 10 through 12 would return on April 19,” Berkeleyside reported.

Part of the reopening plan includes mass vaccinations for Berkeley Unified School District employees.

Ironically, Meyer, before being caught taking his daughter to an in-person school, called the plan the “gold standard” and the “safest” option for students.

“This plan is the Gold Standard,” Meyer said. “Social distancing, mask-wearing, and vaccinations for adults will create the safest environment for in-person education for the end of this year.”

The U.S. Is Now An Immoral War Machine: Biden Orders New Strikes On Syria

President Joe Biden drew praise from warmongering murderous hawks and accusations of hypocrisy from critics after he authorized a reprisal airstrike on Syria. Biden claimed that by bombing “Iran-backed militia” infrastructure, he is deescalating tensions.

When did bombing others ever result in a “de-escalation?” Here’s the “new normal” we should be worried about…

According to a report by RT, the Biden administration, which has publicly stated its intention to return to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and back away from its predecessor’s war-mongering approach, has been panned for seemingly following in Donald Trump’s footsteps on Thursday with an airstrike on Syria.

It does appear that at least some Americans are finally taking a moral stance against war and figuring out it doesn’t matter which puppet sits on the throne. They are all the same.  People online were quick to remind Biden and his staffers of previous statements denouncing such incursions as dangerous escalations that encroach on Syrian sovereignty.

Online sleuths dug up a tweet by Biden’s current spokesperson Jen Psaki, denouncing the Trump administration’s missile strike on Syria in April 2017 as illegal. “Also what is the legal authority for strikes? Assad is a brutal dictator. But Syria is a sovereign country,” Psaki tweeted at the time.

The Pentagon said that the attack was launched at 6 pm eastern time on Biden’s command, and resulted in the destruction of “multiple facilities” believed to be run by Iranian-backed militias in eastern Syria. The Pentagon spun the assault as a“defensive precision strike,” saying it was in retaliation to rocket attacks on the US and coalition troops in Iraq.

“Defensive?” Does anything about initiating an attack defensive? We live in crazy land.

Stay prepared.  War looks like it is still on the table and coupled with all of the other issues the United States is facing under the brutal dictatorship of the ruling and their invented problems.  Stay alert and know what’s going on, not just in your neck of the woods, but globally too.

Fight for 15 HYPOCRISY Intelwars minimum wage Minimum wage jobs lost

Report: Democrats pushing $15 minimum wage have history of paying their own workers less

Congressional Democrats have vowed to push through a $15 minimum wage, one that President Joe Biden attempted to make part of his COVID relief package, with the hope that it could be pushed through the legislature via the budget reconciliation process.

In recent days, the “fight for 15” has suffered a couple setbacks.

Over the weekend, Biden himself admitted to CBS News that his minimum wage hike probably won’t survive the budget negotiation process and will have to be addressed separately later this year.

Then, on Monday, the Congressional Budget Office released analysis of the minimum wage plan that said the proposed hike would cost the economy 1.4 million jobs.

Despite the bad news for the “fight for 15” movement, House Democrats have said they’re not giving up.

But do they really believe in paying all Americans $15 per hour?

A Tuesday report from the New York Post indicated that at least some Democratic lawmakers who want to force businesses to pay all workers $15 per hour — even for workers whose labor is not worth that much — have a record of not paying their own workers the minimum wage they’re currently demanding.

The Post took a look at job listings posted by four House Democrats who support the minimum wage hike — Tom Malinowski (N.J.), Susan Wild (Pa.), Sharice Davids (Kan.), and Chris Pappas (N.H.) — and found that all four of the lawmakers “have offered positions that paid below the minimum wage they claimed to be fighting for.”

What did these Democrats offer?

Rep. Malinowski: According to the Post, the congressman’s campaign team listed an opening for a communications fellow in September 2018. The four-day-a-week job included “staffing the candidate at events on work days and potentially over the weekend” and offered a $500 per month stipend. The Post attempted to contact the lawmaker’s spokesman but did not get a response.

Rep. Wild: The Post noted that Wild’s campaign posted a job listing in March 2018 that was similar to Malinowski’s. Along with a $500 monthly stipend, the campaign also offered housing. College credit was also an option for payment. Wild’s press shop did not respond to the Post’s request for comment.

Rep. Davids: In the final month of Davids’ 2018 race to unseat GOP Rep. Kevin Yoder, Democrats in Kansas posted a paid fellow opening that paid between $1,500 and $2,500. The pay would work out to between $9.38 per hour and $15.63 per hour, depending on experience, the Post reported. Davids’ office, the Post said, could not be reached for comment.

Rep. Pappas: The lawmaker owns a restaurant in Manchester, New Hampshire, called the Puritan Backroom. Despite Pappas’ demand for a $15 minimum wage, job listings at his eatery offer $12.50 per hour, the Post reported. When asked about his employees’ wages in June 2018, Pappas said he paid “on average” over $15 per hour to people in his kitchen, the newspaper said. In 2019, after the Democrat had changed his minimum wage position to support $15, he was found to still be offering jobs at $12.50 per hour. Pappas’ office did not respond to the Post’s request for comment.

Democrat Rep. Cori Bush gets slammed for defending ‘very violent’ jail riot, decrying US Capitol riot

Freshman Democratic Rep. Cori Bush (Mo.) was sharply criticized over the weekend after she seemingly defended prisoners who started a riot at the St. Louis County Jail.

What’s the background?

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the riot started early Saturday morning after an angry inmate attacked a guard. City officials blamed a “faulty locking system” that allowed about 115 inmates to escape their cells and participate in the mayhem.

The inmates took control of the jail’s fourth floor and caused widespread damage, “where they set fires, clogged toilets, flooded parts of the floor and caused other damage,” the Post-Dispatch reported.

“These were just very angry, defiant, very violent people that we house at the Justice Center,” the city’s director of public safety, Jimmie Edwards, said. “No one at the Justice Center is housed for a misdemeanor, a municipal offense or a low-level felony. Everybody housed at the Justice Center is housed there because of very serious offenses like assault on police officers and homicide and things of that sort.”

What did Bush say?

In response, Bush seemingly defended the prisoners, empathizing with them by quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“‘A riot is the language of the unheard.’ – Dr. MLK Jr,” Bush began “I want to talk to my constituents in the window. Their lives and their rights must be protected. My team and I are working to ensure that the urgent needs of people who are incarcerated are not ignored.”

Bush, whose congressional district includes St. Louis, also released a statement decrying the conditions of the criminal justice system. The statement called for “full transparency and human rights protections.”

What was the response?

Bush was criticized because, just one month ago, she was condemning riots, the one at the U.S. Capitol that she claimed then-President Donald Trump “incited.”

“Our country deserves better,” Bush tweeted at the time.

In fact, many critics said that Bush was engaging in hypocrisy by seemingly defending one riot while condemning another.

  • “Aren’t they just thugs like the Capitol rioters ? Or were the Capitol rioters the ‘unheard’ also? Which way do you want it ?” one person responded.
  • “Riots are.good again…
I love how they never post that full MLK quote,” another person
    said.
  • “So does this quote by MLK apply to the January 6 riot?” another person responded.
  • “Riots are great again unless a bunch of whites from the trailer park are doing it, in which case it’s domestic terrorism,” one person said.
  • “Entering the Capitol without permission is terrorism but a prison riot is a peaceful protest,” another person responded.
  • “You support riots @CoriBush? According to the link, “Everybody housed at the Justice Center is housed there because of very serious offenses like assault on police officers and homicide and things of that sort.” How does this fit with your resolution in the #HouseOfHypocrites?” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) responded.
  • “‘Riots are socially destructive and self-defeating… So I will continue to condemn riots, and continue to say to my brothers and sisters that this is not the way. And continue to affirm that there is another way.’ Dr. MLK Jr. (in the same speech Cori Bush is quoting),” another person noted.

Law enforcement eventually used tear gas to control the riot. St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said the violence was over by 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Conservatives CURRENT EVENTS federal funding foreign aid Foreign Policy HYPOCRISY Intelwars

Conservative Hypocrisy on Foreign Aid

After initially threatening to veto it, Donald Trump signed into law a $2.3 trillion, 5,593-page spending bill that no member of Congress had read.

The “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021” (H.R.133), which is a combination of twelve annual funding bills, COVID-19 relief, and pounds and pounds of pork, passed the House in two separate votes of 327-85 and 359-53. The first vote was on appropriations for the federal departments of Commerce, Justice, Defense, Treasury, and Homeland Security, and some federal components, including the White House and the District of Columbia. The second vote included appropriations for the remainder of the federal government as well as coronavirus stimulus and relief and many other miscellaneous provisions. The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 92-6.

This bill funds the federal government through the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2021) with $900 billion allocated for COVID-19 relief and a new $300 weekly supplement for the unemployed. But it also includes:

  • $4 billion for New York’s MTA as part of bailouts for mass-transit systems.
  • $15 billion earmarked toward grant programs for live entertainment venues such as Broadway.
  • $7 billion toward expanding broadband access.
  • $1.4 billion for the construction of a wall on the southern U.S. border.
  • $101 million to combat “the transnational threat of wildlife poaching and trafficking.”
  • New museums on the National Mall that will focus on Latinos and women.

And let’s not forget $25,000,000 for the Red Cross.

What is particularly egregious in this bill is the billions of dollars it appropriates for foreign aid, while Americans are each given a paltry $600 (unless the government decides that they make too much money, in which case they won’t get anything).

In Division K — “Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2021,” under Title II, “United States Agency for International Development” — here are some of the countries getting foreign aid and the amounts that they are getting:

  • Jordan — $1,650,000,000
  • Egypt — $1,300,000,000
  • Sudan — $700,000,000
  • Ukraine — $453,000,000
  • Israel — $500,000,000
  • Burma — $134,950,000
  • Nepal — $130,265,000
  • Cambodia — $85,505,000
  • Pakistan — $25,000,000

Senate Majority Leader Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) defended foreign-aid spending as just “1 percent of all American spending.” “Pakistan is a place I really worry about,” he told Fox & Friends Tuesday. “Eighty-five countries a woman can’t open a bank account without her husband’s signature, she can’t inherit property [sic]. If you’re a young girl in Pakistan, life is pretty tough, so we’re trying to make life better for women throughout the world.”

Many conservatives denounced the bill for its billions in foreign-aid spending.

But why?

Since when do conservatives object to the U.S. government’s spending money on foreign aid? Not just moderate Republicans or RINOs, but self-proclaimed conservatives. I can remember callers to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show being told not to make an issue of foreign aid, since it is only a small part of the U.S. budget. But how is that any different from what Republicans such as Lindsey Graham say?

ForeignAssistance.gov claims to be “the U.S. government’s primary tool for making U.S. foreign assistance data available to the public.” It serves as “the central repository for a range of budgetary and financial data produced by U.S. government agencies that manage foreign assistance portfolios”:

Foreign assistance is aid given by the United States to other countries to support global peace, security, and development efforts, and provide humanitarian relief during times of crisis. It is a strategic, economic, and moral imperative for the United States and vital to U.S. national security.

The first U.S. aid program took shape after World War II when then Secretary of State George Marshall acted to provide significant aid to Europe after the war to assist the continent in rebuilding its infrastructure, strengthening its economy, and stabilizing the region. This led to the creation of several foreign assistance programs in subsequent years to build off the success of the Marshall Plan. The next milestone for foreign assistance occurred in 1961, when President Kennedy signed the Foreign Assistance Act into law and created the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This marked a significant increase in U.S. foreign assistance efforts and USAID became the first U.S. foreign assistance agency whose primary focus was long-term global development to include economic and social progress.

Today, the U.S. manages foreign assistance programs in more than 100 countries around the world through the efforts of over 20 different U.S. government agencies. These investments further America’s foreign policy interests on issues ranging from expanding free markets, combating extremism, ensuring stable democracies, and addressing the root causes of poverty, while simultaneously fostering global good will.

Foreign-assistance funding is classified into nine categories, which are further detailed into 52 sectors. The categories are environment; humanitarian assistance; program management; multi-sector; peace and security; democracy, human rights, and governance; health; education and social services; and economic development.

According to ForeignAssistance.gov, here is what the United States spent on foreign aid in each of the last eight fiscal years:

  • 2020 — $27,064,353,440
  • 2019 — $34,779,516,730
  • 2018 — $32,931,513,141
  • 2017 — $34,278,435,721
  • 2016 — $40,321,782,361
  • 2015 — $34,463,138,249
  • 2014 — $28,499,626,933
  • 2013 — $27,454,812,743

Every penny given away to foreign countries had to first be appropriated by Congress. Conservative Republicans had a part in that as much as anyone else.

Oh, conservatives talk about reforming foreign aid, or withholding foreign aid if a country does something particularly amiss, but they have no philosophical objection to it. James Carafano, vice president for foreign and defense policy studies at the Heritage Foundation — a well-respected conservative think tank — wrote just before Christmas that spending on foreign aid was wrong, but only because it was included in the COVID-19 relief bill. He said that Americans are right to be “upset about Congress sticking foreign aid and other international affairs items in omnibus spending along with the COVID-19 relief bill.” But —

There is absolutely a place for foreign assistance in federal spending. The U.S. is a global power with global interests and global responsibilities. To look after Americans and their interests, sometimes it makes good sense to spend money over there, for the benefit of folks back home.

A good example of that is investment in the Three Seas Initiative. Not only will that help allies, in the end, the U.S. will actually turn a profit from our investments.

Another example: The Trump administration implemented a strong program in support of women in other countries, addressing issues such as property rights and rule-of-law reform, initiatives that will help those nations and make them better partners for the U.S.

It’s definitely part of a sound “America First” foreign policy.

These programs are realistic, with concrete deliverables promoting the values that Americans cherish, and they track right back to supporting American policy objectives that further U.S. interests.

Sorry Mr. Carafano, but there is no place for foreign assistance in federal spending.

Foreign-aid spending is not authorized by the Constitution. Article I, Section 8, Paragraph 1 of the Constitution reads: “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defence and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.” Spending on foreign aid has nothing to do with providing for the common defense and general welfare of the United States. The list of powers granted to the federal government in Article I, Section 8, Paragraphs 2–18 does not include the power to take money from Americans and give it to foreign governments.

Foreign-aid spending is not a legitimate purpose of the U.S. government. The purpose of government is supposed to be to protect the lives, liberties, and property of the people who form it. Providing welfare and relief is illegitimate. And if it is illegitimate for the U.S. government to provide welfare and relief to Americans, then it is even more illegitimate for the U.S. government to provide them to foreigners.

Foreign-aid spending is not something that Americans want to spend their money on. Shouldn’t they have a say in how their tax dollars are spent? The amount of foreign assistance that has been requested for six Central Asian countries for fiscal year 2021 is:

  • Afghanistan — $371.8 million
  • Uzbekistan — $35.24 million
  • Turkmenistan — $200 thousand
  • Kazakhstan — $1.7 million
  • Kyrgyzstan — $20 million
  • Tajikistan — $28.45 million

If they were asked, how many Americans would want to give $457.39 million of their hard-earned money to six counties that they can barely spell? How many doors would you have to knock on before you found one American willing to write a check or even give you some pocket change?

Foreign-aid spending just makes no sense. With millions of Americans out of work and suffering the effects of the federal, state, and local governments’ response to the COVID-19 “pandemic,” it makes absolutely no sense for the U.S. government to send billions to foreign countries and give Americans each a $600 check.

Foreign aid spending is not an investment. It is not a “moral imperative.” It is simply the looting of American taxpayers. If Americans are worried about Pakistan, then let them get out their checkbook. If Americans want to do something about women not being able to open bank accounts or inherit property, then let them make withdrawals from their bank accounts. If Americans want to make life better for women throughout the world, then let them put their money where their mouth is.

All foreign aid, like all domestic charity, should be individual, private, and voluntary.

No matter how many times conservatives recite their mantra of the Constitution, limited government, private property, and individual liberty; and no matter how much they talk about the private sector, free enterprise, personal responsibility, and the free market, they only selectively believe in those things.

As I have said and written on countless occasions, the only limited government wanted by conservatives is a government limited to control by conservatives.

Barbara Boxer chris van hollen dick durbin electoral college Electoral college certification HYPOCRISY Intelwars Josh hawley

Democrats set precedent for opposing Electoral College vote certification following Bush, Trump victories

Democrats are rebuking Republican lawmakers who plan to oppose the Electoral College certification of Joe Biden’s election victory on Jan. 6 over concerns that election fraud tainted the outcome of the presidential contest.

But, as it turns out, Democrats, including some of those launching broadsides against their GOP colleagues, have a history of opposing the Electoral College vote certification.

What are Democrats saying?

After Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced this week that he will oppose the certification of the Electoral College results during next week’s joint-session of Congress, Democrats blasted him.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said, “The political equivalent of barking at the moon. This won’t be taken seriously, nor should it be. The American people made a decision on November 3rd and that decision must and will be honored and protected by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.”

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said, “Sen. Hawley’s actions are grossly irresponsible. He’s attempting to undermine our democratic process, fuel Trump’s lies about voter fraud, and delay the certification of Biden’s win. In the end, this reckless stunt will fail, and Joe Biden will become President on Jan. 20, 2021.”

What did Democrats do before?

According to Fox News, Democrats have launched objections to Electoral College votes in the last three elections won by Republican presidents: George W. Bush’s 2000 and 2004 victories and President Donald Trump’s 2016 victory.

More from Fox News:

In early 2005 specifically, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) along with Rep. Stephanie Tubbs (D-Ohio) objected to Bush’s 2004 electoral votes in Ohio. That forced the chambers to leave their joint session and debate separately for two hours on whether to reject Ohio’s electoral votes. Neither did.

At the time, Democratic senators, like Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Harry Reid, praised then-Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) for raising objections. Durbin and Van Hollen were also among those celebrating Boxer.

Durbin said on the Senate floor at the time:

Some may criticize our colleague from California for bringing us here
for this brief debate. I thank her for doing that because it gives
Members an opportunity once again on a bipartisan basis to look at a
challenge that we face not just in the last election in one State but
in many States. Because of different electoral practices in States
across America, voters who wish to cast a vote for President or Vice
President cannot approach the polls with certainty that their vote will
be counted or that they can vote in a fair and convenient manner.
There are litanies of examples that could be cited. I do not
challenge the legitimacy of the 2004 election outcome. I do not believe
there is evidence of widespread fraud. I believe Senator Kerry was
correct in announcing his concession, but let us concede on a
bipartisan basis that we can and should do better.

Meanwhile, Van Hollen said in a press release in 2005:

I believe that Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-OH) have performed a very valuable public service in bringing this debate before the Congress. As Americans, we should all be troubled by reports of voting problems in many parts of the country. I have been particularly concerned about the lack of a verifiable paper record in connection with electronic voting systems. I am proud to be a co-sponsor of legislation to solve that problem.

In the end, Boxer was the only senator who voted against certifying Ohio’s electoral votes, while a whopping 31 Democrats in the House voted against certifying 2004 Ohio’s electoral votes.

At the time, the mainstream media also promoted stories about Ohio being “stolen” or that voting machine “glitches” marred election integrity.

Meanwhile, some House Democrats objected to the certification of Trump’s Electoral College victory in 2017 over allegations of Trump-Russia collusion.

“I object because people are horrified by the overwhelming evidence of Russian interference in our election,” Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) said at the time.

Specifically, objections were raised about the electoral votes belonging to Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina, Reuters reported.

Anything else?

Indeed, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who announced Saturday that he and 10 other Republican senators will oppose the certification vote on Jan. 6, explained that Democrats have established the precedent for such action.

“[T]here is long precedent of Democratic Members of Congress raising objections to presidential election results, as they did in 1969, 2001, 2005, and 2017. And, in both 1969 and 2005, a Democratic Senator joined with a Democratic House Member in forcing votes in both houses on whether to accept the presidential electors being challenged,” Cruz’s statement explained.

“The most direct precedent on this question arose in 1877, following serious allegations of fraud and illegal conduct in the Hayes-Tilden presidential race. Specifically, the elections in three states-Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina-were alleged to have been conducted illegally,” the statement continued.

“In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy. Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission-consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices-to consider and resolve the disputed returns,” the statement explained.

Coronavirus HYPOCRISY Intelwars Sam liccardo San jose mayor Thanksgiving

San Jose mayor joins elderly parents and ‘unknown number’ of others for Thanksgiving after telling residents to ‘cancel’ gatherings

In yet another instance of Democratic hypocrisy regarding the coronavirus pandemic, Democratic San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo reportedly celebrated Thanksgiving with family and friends despite urging residents to “cancel” big gatherings for the holiday.

What are the details?

On Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving, and likely well after most had already made plans for the holiday, Liccardo took to Twitter to tell residents that gathering for the holiday would be dangerous.

“Cases are spiking, in part because we’re letting our guard (and masks) down with family & friends. Let’s cancel the big gatherings this year and focus on keeping each other safe,” he wrote.

But then on Monday, KNTV-TV investigators reported that Liccardo had “celebrated with his elderly parents at their Saratoga home with an unknown number of other guests.”

The mayor’s staff reportedly confirmed the dinner took place, but did not disclose to the local news outlet how many individuals attended or how many separate households were present.

In response to the news story, the mayor’s chief of staff said, “This is a private event — not public. We are going to redraw the line between what is personal and what is public because that line has become blurred.”

No matter the size of the gathering or the number of household’s present, the celebration was a departure from the mayor’s reported plans for the holiday.

When pressed by KNTV-TV about the mayor’s Thanksgiving plans earlier in the week, his press team told reporters he would be celebrating the holiday by “staying home” with his immediate family. But the day after Thanksgiving, the mayor’s office said that a spokesperson “misspoke” and clarified that Liccardo spent the holiday at his parents’ home with family.

Anything else?

What is perhaps even worse is that the mayor appears to have skirted local health guidelines by partaking in the Thanksgiving celebration.

Dr. Sara Cody, Santa Clara County’s health officer, instructed residents during a town hall earlier this month, “Keep your holiday gatherings to your immediate household members only. I cannot emphasize enough, gathering with friends and family who are not in your household is not safe.”

On the day before Thanksgiving, the county COVID-19 testing officer, Dr. Marty Fenstersheib, told residents that they should look forward to gathering with family and friends next year.

“The hope is that next year, we can enjoy our Thanksgivings with our families and our winter holidays also, but this year we just have to be more strict, because it’s going to protect your family, yourself, your co-workers and it will allow people to not have to go into the hospital,” he said.

Coronavirus restrictions HYPOCRISY Intelwars Los Angeles County Outdoor dining ban Supervisor Vote watch

LA County official votes to ban outdoor dining at restaurants over COVID-19 — then dines outdoors just hours later

A Los Angeles County supervisor voted to ban outdoor dining at restaurants over COVID-19 concerns — and then just hours later dined outside a Santa Monica eatery,
KTTV-TV reported.

What are the details?

The station said it received multiple tips that shortly after her vote last Tuesday, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl was seen dining outside Il Forno Trattoria, an Italian restaurant near her home that she’s described as one of her “favorite” places to dine.

While restaurant managers had no comment for KTTV, a Kuehl spokesperson offered the station the following statement:
She did dine al fresco at Il Forno on the very last day it was permissible. She loves Il Forno, has been saddened to see it, like so many restaurants, suffer from a decline in revenue. She ate there, taking appropriate precautions, and sadly will not dine there again until our Public Health Orders permit.”

At last week’s L.A. County Board of Supervisors meeting, Kuehl referred to outdoor dining as “a most dangerous situation” due to the risk of servers being infected by unmasked patrons, KTTV reported.

“This is a serious health emergency, and we must take it seriously,” Kuehl said, according to the station. “The servers are not protected from us, and they’re not protected from their other tables that they’re serving at that particular time, plus all the hours in which they’re working.”

Kuehl voted to ban outdoor dining in the county, and the measure passed 3-2, KTTV said. The ban will last for three weeks, the station said in a previous story.

More from the station:

Kuehl’s visit to the restaurant came before the outdoor dining ban took effect Wednesday evening, but her decision is likely to draw criticism from those who have grown frustrated with elected officials taking a hypocritical approach to what they have preached, as Kuehl dined at the restaurant a mere hours after she said doing such a thing was unsafe and could contribute to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn who strongly opposed the decision to ban outdoor dining reacted to our reporting tonight on FOX 11’s Special Report with Elex Michaelson.

“We have to remember that we who are in public office are held to a very high standard, as we should be, and one of the things I’m realizing with some of these new restrictions: if we can’t garner the trust of the public to be with us in this fight against the virus, then we’ve lost a big battle, and I’m feeling that now … nine months into this is we’re beginning to lose the trust of the public,” Hahn said, according to KTTV.

What did restaurant owners have to say?

Local restaurant owner Michael Voltaggio told the station he’s stunned by Kuehl’s actions: “That sends a message that we’re getting direction from people that aren’t really believing in the decisions that they’re making.”

“For me it’s just proof of the continuous hypocrisy and just the lack of leadership and education as to what’s happening right now in this sort of shoot-from-the-hip mentality that’s not doing anyone any good,” he added to KTTV.

Josiah Citrin, who owns multiple restaurants across L.A. County, told the station, “I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, restaurants are so dangerous, but you’re gonna go eat in a restaurant?’ I mean, to me it just blows me away.”

Anything else?

Kuehl also co-authored a measure that supervisors voted to place on last month’s ballot aimed at redistributing nearly $1 billion in funding from county law enforcement to “social programs.” County voters approved Measure J, KABC-TV reported.

“It’s time to bring our budget into alignment with our actions, intentions and vision,” Kuehl said of her measure. “The supervisors have said we want to move people from custody to care, and our constituents are pleading with us to expand housing and treatment options and stop relying on punitive, outdated law enforcement tactics.”

Al Sharpton Donald Trump HYPOCRISY Intelwars Jared Kushner Pardons Paul Manafort TAXES watch

Al Sharpton: President Trump ‘and his cronies’ will pay for their ‘many crimes.’ But the good reverend is mum on his own tax history.

During the “Gotcha!” portion of his MSNBC program Sunday, Al Sharpton went to work on President Donald Trump, going over a lengthy list of folks the president may pardon soon following his pre-Thanksgiving pardon of former national security adviser Mike Flynn.

Who could be next? Paul Manafort? Rick Gates? Steve Bannon? Elliott Brody? Trump himself?

Sharpton then said “the villains in the Trump administration cannot be granted a total reprieve with the presidential pardon because the president of the United States can only pardon federal crimes. He has absolutely no power over state charges, and nearly everyone in the Trump orbit is facing state-level liability.”

He added that Trump “and his adult children are facing multiple tax fraud cases. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is under investigation for falsifying real estate documents, and Paul Manafort could see a revival of state charges, just to make a few. And none of those can be disappeared with the presidential pardon. The president and his cronies will be held accountable for their many crimes. The turkeys have come home to roost. And I gotcha.”

POLITICS NATION WITH REV AL GOTCHA RE tRump TURKEY 11 29 2020

youtu.be

What about Sharpton?

It’s one thing for a cable news host to call out elected officials and their employees over purported criminal activities, but it’s quite another thing when said host does the calling out while legal questions surround him.

USA Today reported in September that Sharpton owed nearly $700,000 in back taxes for three for-profit businesses.

In addition, the New York Post reported earlier this month that Sharpton’s charity, the National Action Network, paid Sharpton’s 33-year-old daughter $63,250 last year to do social media work and consulting and paid his 45-year-old niece $13,750 for special-event work in NAN’s Atlanta bureau, citing the group’s most recent tax filing.

NAN also gave a $5,000 grant to Sharpton’s wife, from whom he separated in 2004, the Post reported, adding that the amount was listed on the form as scholarship money.

Sharpton — NAN’s president — received a “modest raise of 1% in 2019, bringing his pay to $327,570,” the paper added.

The Post also said Sharpton’s relationship with NAN “raised eyebrows in 2018 when tax filings revealed he was selling the rights to his life story to the nonprofit for $531,000. NAN said it would make money by selling the rights to filmmakers or others although it’s unclear if any cash has come in.”

Bette Midler Conservatives HYPOCRISY Intelwars Left-wing hollywood Mitch McConnell rich wealthy Yachts

Far-left actress Bette Midler rips conservatives, wealthy people ‘sailing by us in their yachts.’ Then she’s reminded of her bank account.

Far-left actress Bette Midler and longtime member of the Hollywood elite is taking it on the chin for a tone-deaf tweet in which she ripped conservatives and wealthy people “sailing by us in their yachts.”

What did she tweet?

Midler on Sunday hopped on Twitter and made her case:

“How will Americans make any progress with #MoscowMitch as #SenateMajorityLeader?” she asked. “He’ll block every piece of legislation created to move us forward, because that’s the definition of conservatism. We’ll be treading water for years, except the rich, sailing by us in their yachts.”

What was the reaction?

Some folks who read Midler’s tweet were more than a little bit taken aback by her hypocrisy:

  • “I agree Bette & I’m a huge fan, but if I’m not mistaken, you’re pretty rich,” one commenter wrote back. “So while I agree that Mitch needs to go, you probably shouldn’t call out rich ppl when you are one of them. Maybe call out rich ppl and get them to support the cause and help out. Just a suggestion.”
  • “You Are ‘the rich.’ Lol,” another observer said. “McConnell isn’t the most conservative, but he’s wise for blocking anything you call ‘moving forward.’ You wouldn’t know the definition of conservatism even if someone explained it to you in 3rd grade-level terms in crayon.”
  • “What is your net worth, Bette baby?” another commenter asked. “Why haven’t you put your money where your loud mouth is and given it away voluntarily to help those worse off than you? Why do you still live as a rich person? Could it be because you’re just another hypocrite piece of s**t. Why yes, yes it is.”

A few other commenters offered visual aids along with their words:

Andrew Cuomo HYPOCRISY Intelwars mother Thanksgiving

Gov. Cuomo blasted as a hypocrite for inviting his 89-year-old mother to Thanksgiving dinner

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) let it slip on Monday that he had invited his elderly mother and two of his daughters to dine with him on Thanksgiving Day, sparking backlash and accusations of hypocrisy against the Democrat who has spent weeks telling his constituents to skip family gatherings for the holiday.

Hours later, a Cuomo staffer said the dinner was off, but “don’t tell his mom.”

What are the details?

The New York Times noted that Cuomo has been “preaching a message of sacrifice during the holidays” and warning New Yorkers against holiday gatherings, reporting: “So it was surprising when Mr. Cuomo announced on Monday afternoon that he had invited his 89-year-old mother, Matilda, and two of his daughters to celebrate a very Cuomo Thanksgiving with him this week in Albany.”

“The story is, my mom is going to come up and two of my girls,” the governor told WAMC-FM. “But the plans change. But that’s my plan.”

His admission was met with fury online, and prompted statements of condemnation from New York Republicans.

Rep. Elise Stefanik tweeted, “This is one of the many reasons why Cuomo is the WORST Governor in America. His arrogance and hypocrisy knows no bounds. Do as I say, not as I do. Rules for thee, but not for me. Family for me, but none for you. A despised, hypocritical, tyrannical, hubris-laden Governor.”

New York City Councilman Joe Borelli (R) told the New York Post, “The governor lives in an alternate reality.”

Borelli added, “Four family members, plus his police detail, cooks, caterers, cleaners, assistants and staff. If these outsiders can come to the governor’s mansion for Thanksgiving, as they do on a daily basis, in and out, then it’s quite another thing to tell New Yorkers their Aunt Tilly cannot.”

Within a few hours, however, a Cuomo aide told Business Insider the Cuomo family’s Thanksgiving plans had changed.

“As the Governor said, ‘The story is my mom is going to come up and two of my girls is the current plan, but the plans change. That’s my plan. I’m going to work — I’ve got a lot of work to do between now and Thanksgiving,'” senior Cuomo adviser Rich Azzopardi told the outlet. “And given the current circumstances with COVID, he will have to work through Thanksgiving and will not be seeing them.”

Azzopardi added, “Don’t tell his mom — she doesn’t know yet.”

California California medical association Coronavirus restrictions democrat dinner Gavin Newsom Governor HYPOCRISY Intelwars

Medical association officials dined in style with Gavin Newsom — apparently without masks — despite governor’s own COVID-19 ban

First, there were the
photos of far-left California Gov. Gavin Newsom dining unmasked in a fancy French restaurant with a large group of unmasked guests — quite the faux pas considering the controversial COVID-19 dining restrictions the Democrat has instituted.

But now Politico is reporting that California Medical Association officials — of all people — were among the guests seated with Newsom at the “opulent birthday dinner at the French Laundry restaurant this month.” Sacré bleu!

What are the details?

CEO Dustin Corcoran and top CMA lobbyist Janus Norman were at the famous Napa fine-dining restaurant with the governor to celebrate the 50th birthday of lobbyist and longtime Newsom adviser Jason Kinney, a CMA representative told the outlet Wednesday morning.

Both Norman and Corcoran are friends of Kinney, as is Newsom, who referred this week to his 20-year friendship with Kinney, Politico said, adding that a photo obtained by
KTTV-TV clearly shows Norman seated to Newsom’s left:

The presence of CMA brass could amplify criticisms of the dinner occurring despite coronavirus restrictions that have limited Californians’ movements and constrained businesses. While Newsom and Kinney’s lobbying firm have said the meal abided by public health rules, it has struck a chord with Californians who have assailed the upscale soiree as hypocritical as coronavirus cases surge.

The state has issued guidelines prohibiting more than three households from gathering privately — a limit clearly exceeded by the French Laundry dinner. However, the state has intentionally allowed restaurants to seat people from more than three households together.

Doctors and other health care workers have been vigilant since the pandemic began in asking Californians to stay at home — a call that has ramped up in recent weeks as hospitals across the nation fill to capacity.

CMA spokesperson Anthony York told Politico in a statement that “the dinner was held in accordance with state and county guidelines.”

Newsom and Kinney’s lobbying firm, Axiom Advisors, said it was an outdoor dinner, the outlet reported, adding that Napa County restaurants were permitted to hold indoor service at the time of the Nov. 6 event.

The CMA has been a powerful lobbying presence on the state level, Politico noted, adding that its Sacramento officials are longtime friends with Kinney. The CMA spent $2.1 million last year lobbying state leaders, the outlet reported.

Tucker Carlson reveals letter from Chris Cuomo’s building manager scolding CNN host for refusing to wear a mask

Fox News host Tucker Carlson has unveiled a letter addressed to CNN host Chris Cuomo from the building superintendent of his New York City residence, scolding the brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and threatening to turn him in for repeatedly flouting the governor’s mask mandate.

What the details?

“Dear Mr. Cuomo,” the letter begins. “As I am sure you know, because of the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, on April 15, 2020 Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.17, which requires anyone over the age [of] two to wear a face mask or cloth that covers their mouth and nose while in a public space.”

It continues, “You have been observed entering and exiting the building and riding the elevator without the required face coverings. Even though staff members have asked you to comply with this requirement, you have refused to do so. This is a violation of the Executive Order, building policy, and places other residents and our staff at risk. There are no exceptions to this rule, and you are required to comply.”

The letter reportedly goes on to threaten Cuomo with a $500 fine if he continues to violate the mask policy.

According to Carlson, his show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” was able to speak with Cuomo’s building manager and verified the letter’s authenticity. The Fox News host joked that the letter itself belongs “in the museum of hypocrisy.”

Carlson goes on to play several clips of Chris Cuomo urging others to wear masks, and shows footage of Gov. Andrew Cuomo telling New Yorkers that they “could literally kill someone” by refusing to wear a mask in public spaces.

This is not the first time Carlson has exposed Chris Cuomo’s hypocrisy on mask-wearing.

Earlier this month, the Fox News host shared photos purportedly showing Cuomo maskless in public while smoking a cigar outside a restaurant believed to be on Long Island.

The Daily Mail noted that “Cuomo scrutinized Trump for flouting face masks after numerous members of his inner circle, White House staffers, journalists and workers at the Cleveland presidential debate contracted COVID-19 after his diagnosis.”

Cuomo contracted the coronavirus in the spring, and was roundly criticized after he was busted fibbing about remaining in quarantine as required.

TheBlaze previously reported:

The “Cuomo Prime Time” host went viral in April for videotaping his “official reentry” from quarantine into the rest of society following his own COVID-19 diagnosis. During his dramatic reentry, Cuomo insisted that he’d been stuck in the family’s basement for weeks during his convalescence.

However, it was shortly revealed that Cuomo was seen walking outside of his second property, and even engaged in an altercation with a cyclist while he was on the mend and purportedly confined to the family’s basement.

Chris Cuomo Chris cuomo covid Coronavirus COVID-19 HYPOCRISY Intelwars President Donald Trump Walter reed WHITE HOUSE

Internet shreds Chris Cuomo after he rants about Trump’s unmasked balcony appearance. Remember how Cuomo reportedly lied about his own COVID-19 quarantine — and fought with a cyclist?

Social media took CNN’s Chris Cuomo to task on Monday night after he embarked on a blistering rant against President Donald Trump.

In the attack, Cuomo slammed the president’s return to the White House following his COVID-19 diagnosis and stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

What are the details?

As highlighted by Fox News, a bevy of critics hit out at Cuomo on Monday night after the CNN anchor bemoaned Trump’s return to the White House and took aim at footage showing the president taking off his mask while outside on his own balcony to wave to the public.

“Days later,” Fox News pointed out, “Cuomo dug himself a hole when he tried to combat a Twitter critic by claiming he was ‘past quarantine’ on the date of a now-infamous altercation with a cyclist, which appears to have occurred days before he claimed he was first healthy enough to emerge from his basement.”

Despite his own controversy, Cuomo on Monday night said, “You want a metaphor? You’ve [got] a president who is a drunk driver who is pushing others to drive drunk. That’s what he is. Do I want to see a drunk driver get hurt? Hell no. But I worry more about the people he hits.”

He complained, “I love seeing him do that victory lap in that limo, thank God! You know why? I knew that meant he has to be OK. Not the people in there with him, PPE up to their … nose. Now they’ve got to quarantine. He doesn’t give a damn. And now, I do not have to feign any extra measure of compassion.”

“Because he went out there, [and] whatever happens now is on him,” Cuomo ranted. “The White House is a cluster. He returned to a cluster and took his mask off.”

What did people say about the diatribe?

In a lengthy article, Media Research Center news analyst Nicholas Fondacaro wrote, “This was from the same guy who was caught breaking his own quarantine while he was still contagious, and staged a fake news segment where he came out of his basement ‘officially.’ He also admitted to spreading his coronavirus to his wife.”

Commentator Caleb Hull added, “Chris Cuomo was diagnosed with COVID-19, broke quarantine, didn’t wear a mask, put others in danger, got into a fight with a cyclist who called him out, then pretended nothing ever happened and threw a party when his ‘quarantine’ was over.”

The Daily Caller’s official Twitter account quipped, “Flashback to April when Cuomo played a dramatic clip of him leaving his basement after supposedly being cleared of coronavirus but had already broken quarantine and got into an altercation with a biker.”

Commentator Jordan Rachel added, “Remember when Chris Cuomo went out in public while knowingly infected with COVID (violating his quarantine) and threatened the random biker who called him out for it?”

Coronavirus covid HYPOCRISY Intelwars san francisco

San Fran keeps private gyms closed, but has reopened city-owned gyms. Furious owners call out city leaders.

San Francisco gyms have been forced by the liberal city to remain closed for months as part of measures implemented to reduce the spread of coronavirus. But city leaders have applied different rules for fitness facilities used by city employees.

According to KNTV-TV, city-owned indoor gyms have been open for months, all while privately owned indoor gyms have struggled to stay afloat. The result, KNTV reported, is “crushing private gym owners.”

Daniele Rabkin, who owns Crossfit Golden Gate, told KNTV the city’s actions are “shocking” and “infuriating.”

Rabkin reportedly learned that city-owned gyms had reopened after texting several police officers, offering them her gym to work out. The officers told Rabkin that the fitness center at the police station was up and running — with enhanced safety protocols, of course.

“Even though they’re getting exposed, there are no repercussions, no ramifications? It’s shocking,” Rabkin said.

Not only have gyms for city police officers reopened while private gyms have remained shuttered, but so have city-owned gyms used by judges, lawyers, bailiffs, and paralegals, KNTV reported.

Dave Karraker, owner of MX3 Fitness in the Castro, echoed Rabkin’s frustrations.

“It just demonstrates that there seems to be some kind of a double standard between what city employees are allowed to do and what the residents of San Francisco are allowed to do,” Karraker told KNTV.

He added, “What the city has unwillingly done is created this great case study that says that working out indoors is actually safe. So at this point, we’re just demanding that they allow us to have the same workout privileges for the citizens of San Francisco that the employees of San Francisco have.”

Perhaps most shocking is the fact that the city was unapologetic about the double standard.

From KNTV:

NBC Bay Area asked the city for comment Thursday, and were told only that the current health order does not allow indoor fitness gyms to operate, and per Mayor London Breed’s latest reopening announcement, privately owned gyms have to stay closed until at least the end of the month.

The news comes days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi triggered national controversy for getting her hair done at a San Francisco salon that has been shuttered by COVID-restrictions.

“It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work,” salon owner Erica Kious said.

Barack Obama Coronavirus relief Donald Trump HYPOCRISY Intelwars Nancy Pelosi payroll tax cut

Nancy Pelosi bashes Trump for signing payroll tax cut. But she loved it when Obama was president.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi harshly condemned President Donald Trump for taking executive action on Saturday in response to Congress’s failure to pass a second coronavirus relief package.

In a joint statement with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Pelosi claimed the president’s action “endanger[s] seniors’ Social Security and Medicare.” That’s because, in an effort to help Americans financially, Trump signed an executive order deferring payroll taxes — known as the “FICA” tax, which funds Social Security and Medicare — through the end of the year.

The move puts more money directly into the pockets of Americans. Still, Pelosi made it clear she was angered by Trump’s action.

“While he says he’s going to do the payroll tax, what he’s doing is undermining Social Security and Medicare, so these are illusions,” she claimed on “Fox News Sunday.”

As it turns out, Pelosi’s posture is a hypocritical about-face.

What did Pelosi say before?

When Barack Obama, a Democrat, was in the White House, Pelosi supported a unilateral payroll tax reduction — not once, not twice, but three times.

In 2010, Obama announced a payroll tax cut — from 6.2% to 4.2% — that he said would “create jobs and boost economic growth.” When Congress extended the tax cut one year later, Pelosi celebrated the measure as a “victory for all Americans.”

Pelosi said at the time:

Today is a victory for all Americans — for the security of our middle class, for the health of our seniors, and for economic growth and job creation. The American people spoke out clearly and, thanks to President Obama’s leadership, 160 million Americans will continue to receive their payroll tax cut – nearly $40 per paycheck in the pockets of the average family. I salute the work of the unified House Democratic caucus on behalf of the American people.

Then, when Congress extended the cut again in 2012, Pelosi justified the action as “necessary because our economy and our people need this boost.”

In an interview with PBS, Pelosi went on to say that she did not think the temporary payroll tax cut endangered Social Security and Medicare — despite now, of course, changing her tune completely.

“The [Social Security and Medicare] trust fund can handle that,” Pelosi explained matter-of-factly.

HYPOCRISY Intelwars John lewis funeral social distancing

Powerful picture exposes the double standard politicians allow for themselves on social distancing

Americans nationwide continue to be impacted by coronavirus-related restrictions implemented by their state leaders. Although most lockdowns have lifted, leaders continue to restrict gatherings to few people, require social distancing of at least six feet between people, and mandate the wearing of face coverings.

The restrictions have forced millions of Americans to miss out on important family-related events, like weddings and funerals.

But, for some reason, the same restrictions that apply to the general public were not followed during the funeral for American hero John Lewis, which took place at Atlanta’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.

A powerful picture revealed the double standard on social distancing that apparently applies to politicians and other American leaders.

In a viral Twitter post, user “brink,” wrote, “I get it. My dad wasn’t important. So it’s ok to limit his funeral to 10 people tomorrow.” Accompanied was a picture from Lewis’ memorial showing attendees not social distancing.

“This is not an attack or statement on Lewis or Masks. Rather, a statement on the double standards of those we have voted into office vs. the people who voted for them,” the user added in a follow up tweet.

Indeed, one of the most tragic aspects of the coronavirus pandemic is that many people have died alone in hospitals and other care facilities, and that families have been unable to attend funerals, instead being forced to settle for watching a memorial service via livestream.
