A Nation Imploding: Digital Tyranny, Insurrection and Martial Law

[Y]ou can be filled with bitterness, with hatred, and a desire for revenge. We can move in that direction as a country, in great polarization…filled with hatred toward one another. Or we can make an effort … to understand and to comprehend, and to replace that violence, that stain of bloodshed that has spread across our land, with an effort to understand with compassion and love… What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence or lawlessness; but love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or they be black.”—Robert F. This is what we have been reduced to: A violent mob. A nation on the brink of martial law. A populace under house arrest. A techno-corporate state wielding its power to immobilize huge swaths of the country. And a Constitution in tatters.

We are imploding on multiple fronts, all at once.

This is what happens when ego, greed, and power are allowed to take precedence over liberty, equality, and justice.

Just to be clear, however: this is not a revolution.

This is a ticking time bomb.

There is absolutely no excuse for the violence that took place at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Yet no matter which way you look at it, the fallout from this attempted coup could make this worrisome state of affairs even worse.

First, you’ve got the president, who has been accused of inciting a riot and now faces a second impeachment and a scandal that could permanently mar his legacy. While the impeachment process itself is a political beast, the question of whether President Trump incited his followers to riot is one that has even the best legal experts debating. Yet as First Amendment scholar David Hudson Jr. explains, for Trump’s rhetoric to be stripped of its free speech protections, “The speaker must intend to and actually use words that rally people to take illegal action. The danger must be imminent—not in the indefinite future. And the words must be uttered in a situation in which violence is likely to happen.”

At a minimum, Trump’s actions and words—unstatesmanlike and reckless, by any standards—over the course of his presidency and on Jan. 6 helped cause a simmering pot to boil over.

Second, there were the so-called “patriots” who took to the streets because the jailer of their choice didn’t get chosen to knock heads for another four years. Those “Stop the Steal” protesters may have deluded themselves (or been deluded) into believing they were standing for freedom when they stormed the Capitol. However, all they really did was give the Deep State and its corporate partners a chance to pull back the curtain and reveal how little freedom we really have. There is nothing that can be said to justify the actions of those who, armed with metal pipes, chemical irritants, stun guns, and other types of weapons, assaulted and stampeded those in their path.

There are limits to what can be done in the so-called name of liberty, and this level of violence—no matter who wields it or what brand of politics or zealotry motivate them—crossed the line.

Third, you’ve got the tech giants, who meted out their own version of social justice by way of digital tyranny and corporate censorship. Yet there can be no freedom of speech if social media giants can muzzle whomever they want, whenever they want, on whatever pretext they want in the absence of any real due process, review, or appeal. As Edward Snowden warned, whether it was warranted or not, the social media ban on President Trump signaled a turning point in the battle for control over digital speech. And that is exactly what is playing out as users, including those who have no ties to the Capitol riots, begin to experience lockouts, suspensions, and even deletions of their social media accounts.

Remember, the First Amendment is a steam valve. It allows people to peacefully air viewpoints, vent frustrations, debate and disagree, and generally work through the problems of self-governance. Without that safety mechanism in place, self-censorship increases, discontent festers, foment brews, and violence becomes the default response for resolving disputes, whether with the government or each other. At a minimum, we need more robust protections in place to protect digital expression and a formalized process for challenging digital censorship.

Unfortunately, digital censorship is just the beginning. Once you start using social media scores coupled with surveillance capitalism to determine who is worthy enough to be part of society, anything goes. In China, which has been traveling this road for years now, millions of individuals and businesses, blacklisted as “unworthy” based on social media credit scores that grade them based on whether they are “good” citizens, have been banned from accessing financial markets, buying real estate or traveling by air or train.

Fourth, you’ve got the police, who normally exceed the constitutional limits restraining them from brutality, surveillance, and other excesses. Only this time, despite intelligence indicating that some of the rioters were planning for mayhem, police were outnumbered and ill-prepared to deal with the incursion. Investigations underway suggest that some police may even have colluded with the rioters.

Certainly, the lack of protocols adopted by the Capitol Police bears an unnerving resemblance to the lack of protocols in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017, when police who were supposed to uphold the law and prevent violence failed to do either. In fact, as the Washington Post reports, police “seemed to watch as groups beat each other with sticks and bludgeoned one another with shields… At one point, police appeared to retreat and then watch the beatings before eventually moving in to end the free-for-all, make arrests and tend to the injured.” Incredibly, when the first signs of open violence broke out, it was reported that the police chief allegedly instructed his staff to “let them fight, it will make it easier to declare an unlawful assembly.”

There’s a pattern emerging if you pay close enough attention: Instead of restoring order, local police stand down. Without fail, what should be an exercise in how to peacefully disagree turns ugly the moment looting, vandalism, violence, intimidation tactics, and rioting are introduced into the equation. Tensions rise, violence escalates, and federal armies move in.

All that was missing on Jan. 6 was a declaration of martial law.

Which brings us to the fifth point, martial law. Given that the nation has been dancing around the fringes of martial law with each national crisis, it won’t take much more to push the country over the edge to a declaration and military lockdown. The rumblings of armed protests at all 50 state capitals and in Washington, D.C., will only serve to heighten tensions, double down on the government’s military response, and light a match to a powder keg state of affairs. With tens of thousands of National Guard troops and federal law enforcement personnel mobilized to lock down Washington, DC, in the wake of the Jan. 6 riots and in advance of the Jan. 20 inauguration, this could be the largest military show-of-force in recent years.

So where do we go from here?

That all of these events are coming to a head around Martin Luther King Jr. Day is telling.

More than 50 years after King was assassinated, America has become a ticking time bomb of racial unrest and injustice, police militarization, surveillance, government corruption and ineptitude, the blowback from a battlefield mindset and endless wars abroad, and a growing economic inequality between the haves and have nots

Making matters worse, modern America has compounded the evils of racism, materialism, and militarism with ignorance, intolerance, and fear.

Callousness, cruelty, meanness, immorality, ignorance, hatred, intolerance, and injustice have become hallmarks of our modern age, magnified by an echo chamber of nasty tweets and government-sanctioned brutality.

“Despite efforts to curb hate speech, eradicate bullying and extend tolerance, a culture of nastiness has metastasized in which meanness is routinely rewarded, and common decency and civility are brushed aside,” observed Teddy Wayne in a New York Times piece on “The Culture of Nastiness.”

Every time I read a news headline or flip on the television or open up an email or glance at social media, I run headlong into people consumed with back-biting, partisan politics, sniping, toxic hate, meanness, and materialism. Donald Trump is, in many ways, the embodiment of this culture of meanness. Yet as Wayne points out, “Trump is less enabler in chief than a symptom of a free-for-all environment that prizes cutting smears… Social media has normalized casual cruelty.”

Whether it’s unfriending or blocking someone on Facebook, tweeting taunts and barbs on Twitter, or merely using cyberspace to bully someone or peddle in gossip, we have become masters in the art of meanness.

This culture of meanness has come to characterize many aspects of the nation’s governmental and social policies. “Meanness today is a state of mind,” writes professor Nicolaus Mills in his book The Triumph of Meanness, “the product of a culture of spite and cruelty that has had an enormous impact on us.”

This casual cruelty is made possible by a growing polarization within the populace that emphasizes what divides us—race, religion, economic status, sexuality, ancestry, politics, etc.—rather than what unites us: we are all human.

This is what writer Anna Quindlen refers to as “the politics of exclusion, what might be thought of as the cult of otherness… It divides the country as surely as the Mason-Dixon line once did. And it makes for mean-spirited and punitive politics and social policy.”

This is more than meanness, however.

This is the psychopathic mindset adopted by the architects of the Deep State, and it applies equally whether you’re talking about Democrats or Republicans.

Beware, because this kind of psychopathology can spread like a virus among the populace.

As an academic study into pathocracy concluded, “[T]yranny does not flourish because perpetuators are helpless and ignorant of their actions. It flourishes because they actively identify with those who promote vicious acts as virtuous.”

People don’t simply line up and salute. It is through one’s own personal identification with a given leader, party, or social order that they become agents of good or evil. To this end, “we the people” have become “we the police state.”

By failing to actively take a stand for good, we become agents of evil. It’s not the person in charge who is solely to blame for the carnage. It’s the populace that looks away from the injustice, that empowers the totalitarian regime, that welcomes the building blocks of tyranny.

This realization hit me full-force a few years ago. I had stopped into a bookstore and was struck by all of the books on Hitler, everywhere I turned. Yet had there been no Hitler, there still would have been a Nazi regime. There still would have been gas chambers and concentration camps and a Holocaust.

Hitler wasn’t the architect of the Holocaust. He was merely the figurehead. The same goes for the American police state: had there been no Trump or Obama or Bush, there still would have been a police state. There still would have been police shootings and private prisons and endless wars and government pathocracy.

Why? Because “we the people” have paved the way for this tyranny to prevail.

By turning Hitler into a super-villain who singlehandedly terrorized the world—not so different from how Trump is often depicted—historians have given Hitler’s accomplices (the German government, the citizens that opted for security and order over liberty, the religious institutions that failed to speak out against evil, the individuals who followed orders even when it meant a death sentence for their fellow citizens) a free pass.

This is how tyranny rises and freedom falls.

None of us who remain silent and impassive in the face of evil, racism, extreme materialism, meanness, intolerance, cruelty, injustice, and ignorance get a free pass.

Those among us who follow figureheads without question, who turn a blind eye to injustice and turn their backs on need, who march in lockstep with tyrants and bigots, who allow politics to trump principle, who give in to meanness and greed, and who fail to be outraged by the many wrongs being perpetrated in our midst, it is these individuals who must shoulder the blame when the darkness wins.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that,” Martin Luther King Jr. sermonized.

The darkness is winning

It’s not just on the world stage we must worry about the darkness winning

The darkness is winning in our communities. It’s winning in our homes, our neighborhoods, our churches and synagogues, and our government bodies. It’s winning in the hearts of men and women the world over who are embracing hatred over love. It’s winning in every new generation that is being raised to care only for themselves, without any sense of moral or civic duty to stand for freedom.

John F. Kennedy, killed by an assassin’s bullet five years before King would be similarly executed, spoke of a torch that had been “passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

Once again, a torch is being passed to a new generation, but this torch is setting the world on fire, burning down the foundations put in place by our ancestors, and igniting all of the ugliest sentiments in our hearts.

This fire is not liberating; it is destroying.

We are teaching our children all the wrong things: we are teaching them to hate, teaching them to worship false idols (materialism, celebrity, technology, politics), teaching them to prize vain pursuits and superficial ideals over kindness, goodness, and depth.

We are on the wrong side of the revolution.

“If we are to get on to the right side of the world revolution,” advised King, “we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society.

Freedom demands responsibility.

Freedom demands that we stop thinking as Democrats and Republicans and start thinking like human beings, or at the very least, Americans.

Martin Luther King Jr. dared to dream of a world in which all Americans “would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

He didn’t live to see that dream become a reality. It’s still not a reality. We haven’t dared to dream that dream in such a long time.

But imagine…

Imagine what this country would be like if Americans put aside their differences and dared to stand up—united—for freedom…

Imagine what this country would be like if Americans put aside their differences and dared to speak out—with one voice—against injustice…

Imagine what this country would be like if Americans put aside their differences and dared to push back—with the full force of our collective numbers—against the evils of government despotism.

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, tyranny wouldn’t stand a chance.

FBI Warns: Armed Protests Planned For All 50 State Capitols

According to the FBI, armed protests are planned for all 50 state capitols as the inauguration of Joe Biden approaches.  The FBI said in a statement: “The FBI is supporting our state, local, and federal law enforcement partners with maintaining public safety in the communities we serve.”

Supporters of President Donald Trump will descend upon the capital cities of all 50 states in advance of the inauguration if the FBI’s warning is correct. Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris are expected to be sworn in at a ceremony at the Capitol. The Biden team has already urged Americans to avoid traveling to the capital because of the Covid-19 hoax. But now, “authorities” are urging people to stay home.

Security officials have said there will be no repeat of the breach seen on 6 January, when thousands of pro-Trump supporters were able to break into the building where members of Congress were voting to certify the election result.- BBC

Not to be the ones to attempt unity, house Democrats say a vote to impeach the president will happen on Wednesday. They are accusing President Trump of “incitement of insurrection” and say the vote will be held unless Vice-President Mike Pence invokes constitutional powers to remove Trump from office. There is no sign that Pence is willing to do so.

Because Democrats hold a majority in the house, Trump is expected to become the first president to be impeached twice. This could have an impact on planned protests and it will also solidify the division the government is using to make sure the New World Order’s Great Reset is ushered in.

An internal FBI bulletin, reported by ABC News and other outlets, is also warning that one group is calling for the “storming” of state, local, and federal courthouses around the country if Trump is removed from office early and on inauguration day if he is not.

Violence and a show of force will only amplify the situation and cause a crackdown on the public. The best thing to do right now is to stay out of all of this.  Help others if you can, and try to do the right thing.  Stay out of this fray, stay prepared, and make sure you’re alert and use discernment. In the coming weeks, cooler heads will prevail.

Facebook Bans The Phrase “Stop The Steal” Ahead Of Biden’s Inaguration

Facebook is going all-in on their censorship campaign ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration in 8 days. The social media giant has now banned the phrase “stop the steal” from their platform.

Any content with the blacklisted phrase is being removed from Facebook and Instagram, under the Coordinating Harm policy, the company announced on Monday evening. The vice president for Integrity Guy Rosen and vice president for Global Policy Management Monika Bickert claimed that the phrase was used “by those involved in Wednesday’s violence in DC” and cited “continued attempts to organize events against the outcome of the US presidential election that can lead to violence,” according to reports by RT. “We’re taking additional steps and using the same teams and technologies we used during the general election to stop misinformation and content that could incite further violence during these next few weeks,” Rosen and Bickert wrote.

In addition to the “indefinite suspension” of President Trump’s account announced on Thursday, Facebook is keeping the temporary ban on all US political advertising and “connecting people with reliable information and high-quality news about the inauguration and the transition process.”

“After the inauguration, our label on posts that attempt to delegitimize the election results will reflect that Joe Biden is the sitting president,” wrote Bickert and Rosen. –RT

For months, social media giants have labeled any post challenging the validity of the 2020 presidential election as“disputed” or challenged by their coterie of fact-checkers. This includes posts by Donald Trump that were alleging voter irregularities.  Last Wednesday’s unrest at the Capitol provided Big Tech with a pretext to censor and purge accounts outright, including those of the president himself.

The outright deletion of content before Biden is even inaugurated is an escalation from Facebook’s actions prior to the election, when they “shadowbanned” all mention of a New York Poststory about Biden’s son Hunter and the incriminating emails found on a laptop recovered from a Delaware repair shop. Twitter had locked the Post’s account, but it later emerged that Facebook’s soft censorship turned out to be far more effective. –RT

Facebook purging any content containing phrase ‘stop the steal’

Facebook announced Monday that it will now remove any content from its platform that includes the phrase “stop the steal” as part of its enhanced enforcement following last week’s siege on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.

What are the details?

“We are now removing content containing the phrase ‘stop the steal’ under our Coordinating Harm policy from Facebook and Instagram,” the company declared in a statement. “We removed the original Stop the Steal group in November and have continued to remove Pages, groups and events that violate any of our policies, including calls for violence.”

The social media platform, founded by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, went on to explain:

We’ve been allowing robust conversations related to the election outcome and that will continue. But with continued attempts to organize events against the outcome of the US presidential election that can lead to violence, and use of the term by those involved in Wednesday’s violence in DC, we’re taking this additional step in the lead up to the inauguration. It may take some time to scale up our enforcement of this new step but we have already moved a significant number of posts.

Facebook’s latest measure is part of an ongoing, coordinated crackdown by major social media outlets against President Donald Trump and his assertions that the presidential election was stolen for President-elect Joe Biden.

Following the storming of the Capitol after a massive rally hosted by Trump, the president was banned for life from Twitter and suspended indefinitely from Facebook, Instagram, and other online platforms amid accusations that he incited the violence that left six of his supporters — including a Capitol Police officer — dead.

What about Twitter?

Also on Monday, Twitter announced “some of the steps” the company had taken since last week “to protect the conversation” following the attack that occurred last Wednesday.

“Given the violent events in Washington, DC, and increased risk of harm, we began permanently suspending thousands of accounts that were primarily dedicated to sharing QAnon content on Friday afternoon,” Twitter said in a statement. “Many of the individuals impacted by this updated enforcement action held multiple accounts, driving up the total numbers of accounts impacted.”

Twitter explained further:

Since Friday, more than 70,000 accounts have been suspended as a result of our efforts, with many instances of a single individual operating numerous accounts. These accounts were engaged in sharing harmful QAnon-associated content at scale and were primarily dedicated to the propagation of this conspiracy theory across the service.

As countless conservative Twitter users complained over the weekend that they were losing a significant amount of followers, Twitter had put out a statement saying that “in order to prevent spam, we regularly challenge accounts to confirm details like email and phone number. Until that info is confirmed, these accounts aren’t included in follower counts.”

Facebook to ban and remove photos and videos from Capitol protest; content labeled as ‘promotion of criminal activity’

Facebook announced it would ban and remove photos and videos from the protest at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The social media platform claims that photos and videos from Wednesday’s events violate Facebook’s policy of “promotion of criminal activity.”

Immediately following the Capitol protest, Facebook and Instagram locked the account of President Donald Trump for 24 hours for “two policy violations.”

Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube deleted videos from President Trump addressing the Capitol chaos, where he instructed his supporters to “go home,” and declared that “we have to have peace.”

Twitter released a statement on Wednesday that read, “In regard to the ongoing situation in Washington, D.C., we are working proactively to protect the health of the public conversation occurring on the service and will take action on any content that violates the Twitter rules.”

Guy Rosen, Facebook’s vice president of integrity, said the company deleted Trump’s video over the risk that it would increase the risk of violence.

“This is an emergency situation and we are taking appropriate emergency measures, including removing President Trump’s video,” Rosen wrote on Twitter. “We removed it because on balance we believe it contributes to rather than diminishes the risk of ongoing violence.”

“The violent protests in the Capitol today are a disgrace,” Facebook said in a statement on Wednesday. “We prohibit incitement and calls for violence on our platform. We are actively reviewing and removing any content that breaks these rules.”

Facebook also issued its “response to the violence in Washington,” where the social network announced it would ban and remove photos and videos from the Capitol protest.

“Let us speak for the leadership team in saying what so many of us are feeling,” wrote Rosen and Monika Bickert, Facebook’s vice president of global policy management. “We are appalled by the violence at the Capitol today. We are treating these events as an emergency.”

Facebook proclaimed that it has been “searching for and removing” certain content, including “praise and support of the storming of the US Capitol,” “incitement or encouragement of the events at the Capitol, including videos and photos from the protestors,” and “calls for protests — even peaceful ones — if they violate the curfew in DC.”

Facebook claimed that photos and videos of the Capitol protest “represent promotion of criminal activity which violates our policies.”

Facebook also implemented “emergency measures,” including “automatically disabling comments on posts in Groups that start to have a high rate of hate speech or content that incites violence” and “using AI to demote content that likely violates our policies.”

“Facebook and Instagram have both begun blocking content posted to the #StormTheCapitol hashtag,” TechCrunch reported.

The social media giant concluded by saying, “We’re continuing to monitor the situation and will take additional measures if necessary to keep people safe.”

Facebook did not enact a similar policy of banning images and videos during the protests and riots that have been occurring regularly since late May, following the death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis.

Trump blasts ‘weak’ Republicans, advances his case for rejecting Electoral College certification

President Donald Trump addressed supporters at a rally protesting the certification of the Electoral College results in Washington, D.C., Wednesday after Republicans lost the U.S. Senate runoff elections in Georgia.

The president told his supporters that the election was rigged, and that Republicans who do not support his claims of voter fraud or who refuse to object to certifying the results are “weak.” Several times Trump put pressure on Vice President Mike Pence to take action to reject the Electoral College votes from several states, sending them back to the state legislatures — a power which constitutional experts and even the vice president himself say he does not have.

Several thousand protesters gathered near the White House to hear the president speak as he told them, “We will not let them silence your voices,” referring to Democrats and the media.

“We have hundreds of thousands of people here and I just want them to be recognized by the fake news media,” Trump said. “These people are not going to take it any longer.”

The president’s speech was the main event of the “Save America” rally to protest the certification of the Electoral College results by Congress. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives met in a joint session Wednesday presided by Pence to read the votes sent by several states and certify them. Several Republican lawmakers had in recent days declared their intentions to object to the results from some states where Trump’s campaign disputes the results and has made allegations of voter fraud.

“They rigged the election, they rigged it like they never rigged an election before. And by the way, last night they didn’t do a bad job either,” Trump told the large gathering.

His speech reviewed the various allegations of election impropriety the president’s campaign and state Republicans have made over the months since the Nov. 3 election. Trump accused the Pennsylvania government of violating its own state election laws by ignoring signature verification requirements for mail-in ballots. He criticized “illegal, unmanned, unsecured drop boxes” for mail-in and absentee ballots in Wisconsin. Trump also repeated various claims of dead voters sending in ballots by mail, large votes being “dropped” late at night or in the early hours of the morning, and other assertions made in affidavits submitted in the various lawsuits the Trump campaign pursued to overturn the results of the election.

Nearly all of the court cases filed on behalf of the Trump campaign making these assertions of illegal voting activity were either dismissed by courts for lack of standing or found to not have enough evidence to support their claims.

Despite the failure of his various legal challenges, the president continues to refuse to concede the election to President-elect Joe Biden.

“We will never give up, we will never concede,” Trump declared at the rally. “You don’t concede when there’s theft involved.”

He again urged Vice President Pence to take action to decertify the official results of the Electoral College, insisting that, “if Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election.”

“States want to revote. The states got defrauded. They were given false information. They voted on it. Now they want to recertify, they want it back. All Vice President Pence has to do is send it back to the states to recertify, and we become president and you are the happiest people,” Trump told his audience.

While the president spoke, Vice President Pence released a statement announcing that he would not act as directed by Trump and refuse to certify the results.

“As a student of history who loves the Constitution and reveres its Framers, I do not believe that the Founders of our country intended to invest the Vice President with unilateral authority to decide which electoral votes should be counted during the Joint Session of Congress,” Pence said.

While several GOP lawmakers followed through with their promise to object to the electoral votes from Arizona and other states, the effort was opposed by Republican leadership in the Senate and many Republican senators.

Trump accused those who would not support the effort of being “weak.”

“Weak Republicans, and that’s what they are. There are so many weak Republicans,” Trump charged. “Many of the Republicans, I helped them get in, I helped them get elected. I helped [Mitch McConnell] get elected. I could name 24 of them, let’s say, I won’t bore you with it.

“The weak Republicans, they’re pathetic Republicans,” he continued. “The weak Republicans, and that’s it, I really believe it. I think I’m going to use the term. The weak Republicans … they’ve turned a blind eye even as Democrats enact policies that chipped away our jobs, weakened our military, threw open our borders, and put America last.”

He vowed to challenge incumbent Republicans who would not support his efforts to overturn the election in future primaries.

“If they don’t fight we have to primary the hell out of the ones that don’t fight. We primary them, we’re going to let you know who they are,” Trump said.

Additionally, Trump criticized the Supreme Court, saying “they love to rule against me,” and berated the Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp as the “dumbest” governor in America.

“The Republicans have to get tougher, you’re not going to have a Republican Party if you don’t get tougher. They want to play so straight,” Trump said, before mimicking Republicans who tell him the Constitution does not permit the vice president or Congress to send Electoral College results back to the states.

“You can’t vote on fraud. And fraud breaks up everything, doesn’t it? When you catch somebody in a fraud, you’re allowed to go by very different rules. So I hope Mike has the courage to do what he has to do. And I hope he doesn’t listen to the RINOs and the stupid people that he’s listening to.”

Mayor of DC Reuested National Guard Presence at Wednesday’s MAGA Rally

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested National Guard troops to be present during Wednesday’s “Stop the Steal” rally in support of President Donald Trump. Bowser has also urged residents to avoid downtown as Trump supporters plan to descend on the United States capital to protest the certification of Joe Biden’s election victory.

The presence of the military during a rally is definitely a ramping up of tensions. However, ironically, the mayor made no such call for military help when Black Lives Matter protesters set fires, vandalized national monuments, and hurled rocks and bottles of urine at Secret Service agents earlier this year, as RT pointed out.

In fact, Bowser in June called on Trump to withdraw National Guard soldiers and other federal forces who had been deployed to help quell riots at the time.

Bowser’s office told media outlets on Monday that she had asked the National Guard to send about 340 unarmed troops to help District of Columbia police and firefighters to manage demonstrations by supporters of President Trump, but noted only 115 would be deployed at once. The mayor advised Washington residents to stay out of the downtown area and refrain from engaging with protesters who come to our city seeking confrontation.”

But some have been reminding the mayor of which groups have been notorious for violence and destruction.

The mayor has often sided with destructive and violent groups. She renamed a street in front of the White House Black Lives Matter Plaza and ordered that the BLM slogan be painted on the pavement in giant letters. Some people are rightly pointing out her cowardice and hypocrisy.

Perhaps the national guard presence is more about the possible confrontation between the two divided political factions, and less about who throws the first punch.  Hopefully, people start to figure out who is keeping the public divided so they can enslave them. Michigan congressman quits GOP over party supporting ‘stop the steal’ efforts, fears ‘long-term harm to our democracy’

Michigan Rep. Paul Mitchell announced Monday that he will no longer be affiliated with the Republican Party, saying he fears “long-term harm to our democracy” may come from GOP leadership’s endorsement of efforts to overturn the presidential election, including “Stop the Steal” rallies.

His message came the same day the Electoral College voted to confirm Democrat Joe Biden president-elect, amid President Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to fight the outcome.

Mitchell penned a letter to Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), reminding them of his pro-Trump record before explaining his disgust at the party’s refusal to defend the electoral process.

“As you well know, my voting record in Congress over the past two terms has been in line with President Trump and the administration’s policies more than 95 percent of the time,” the congressman wrote. “Further, I voted for President Trump in the 2020 General Election despite some reservations about four more years under his leadership.”

The two-term representative voiced his agreement that “there have been some disconcerting aspects” to the Nov. 3 election and that changes must be made to the process, while acknowledging that “any candidate, including the president, is entitled to request recounts and pursue legal challenges they believe are appropriate if they possess evidence of wrongdoing.”

Then, Mitchell delved into why he was leaving the party, writing in part:

It is unacceptable for political candidates to treat our election system as though we are a third-world nation and incite distrust of something so basic as the sanctity of our vote. Further, it is unacceptable for the president to attack the Supreme Court of the United States because its judges, both liberal and conservative, did not rule with his side or that “the Court failed him.” It was our Founding Fathers’ objective to insulate the Supreme Court from such blatant political motivations.

If Republican leaders collectively sit back and tolerate unfounded conspiracy theories and “stop the steal” rallies without speaking out for our electoral process, which the Department of Homeland Security said was “the most secure in American history,” our nation will be damaged. I have spoken out clearly and forcefully in opposition to these messages. However, with the leadership of the Republican Party and our Republican Conference in the House actively participating in at least some of those efforts, I fear long-term harm to our democracy.

Rep. Mitchell informed party leaders that was quitting the GOP at the national and state level, noting that he will still “support, contribute to, and fundraise for individual candidates who reflect the principles [he] hold(s) dear.”

Mitchell, a multimillionaire who is retiring from Congress and only has weeks left to serve, added, “I am also requesting that the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives change my party affiliation to Independent for the remainder of my term in office. While admittedly symbolic, we all know that symbols matter.”

Republican Lisa McClain won the election to replace Mitchell and will be sworn in on Jan. 3.

There were several pro-Trump rallies held in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, including the “March for Trump” and the “Stop the Steal” rally in support of challenging the 2020 presidential election results. In retaliation, at least three anarchist and Antifa-linked groups planned counterprotests in the nation’s capital, including the “F*** MAGA” protest. The clashing groups clashed on the streets of D.C., which resulted in four people being stabbed and nearly two dozen arrests.

The large protests in support of President Donald Trump were mostly peaceful, but violent skirmishes erupted on Saturday night between the adversarial groups.

A coalition of Black Lives Matter and Antifa supporters appear to be prepared for battle as they wield shields.

A horde of black bloc members are seen marching towards police and throwing water bottles and bricks at them.

An alleged Antifa member was physically removed from the fracas when a police officer picked him up like a child and dropped him on the street.

Members of BLM and Antifa fought with the Proud Boys, despite police attempting to constantly separate the warring groups, as seen in video from Daily Caller field correspondent Shelby Talcott and Townhall senior writer Julio Rosas.

Fireworks were reportedly launched towards the hotel that the Proud Boys were staying at, according to Matthew Miller from the Post Millennial.

A man dressed in all black is surrounded by a group of Proud Boys, some of them are heard yelling, “He’s got a knife!” One person walks behind the man with the knife and hits him in the head with an object. The group then jump on the man, and apparently, that is when the stabbings happened.

The exact moment that the man drew his knife was captured by SWNS chief photographer Adam Gray.

The four people who were stabbed were said to be in critical condition, some suffered “life-threatening injuries,” according to D.C. fire spokesman Doug Buchanan.

Proud Boys pray for the members who were stabbed, asking for a “moment of silence” for two “brothers” who are “fighting for their f***ing life” and “might not f***ing pull through.”

Two police officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and two people with minor injuries, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office said.

The Metropolitan Police Department reported making 23 arrests on Saturday: 10 for simple assaults, six for assaults on police officers, four committed “riotous acts,” two charged with “crossing a police line,” and one person had a taser and was charged with “possession of a prohibited weapon.”

Violence erupts in Washington between Trump supporters and leftist groups — shot fired, suspect detained

Several rallies and counterprotests went down on Saturday in Olympia, Washington. In the midst of tense and sometimes violent clashes between Trump supporters and members of leftist groups, someone fired a gun. Police had made at least two arrests.

In Olympia, there was a “RE-Open WA” rally planned, a “Stop the Steal” parade, and a “BLM: Washington vs. Fascism” counterprotest scheduled for Saturday, according to Fox News.

It didn’t take long for the polar opposite groups to run into each other in Olympia. Proud Boys and Black Bloc members confronted each other as seen in video taken by reporter Shauna Sowersby.

Then fights erupted between the two groups, and an “unlawful assembly” was declared by the Olympia Police Department.

“First fight breaks out between Back the blue / stop the steal protesters and Portland / Washington counter-protesters,” Independent Media said.

An alleged member of the Proud Boys was reportedly arrested for pointing his gun. While at the same time law enforcement is seen firing crowd control munitions at apparent Antifa members lined up in the middle of the street.

The violence escalated to the point that the Olympia Police Department was forced to declare a riot.

A shot was fired during the protests. A man wearing all black was seen brandishing a handgun. He flees the scene and puts on a red hat. The same man appears to be on the ground and being arrested by the Olympia Police Department officers and Washington State Troopers.

Washington State Patrol spokesperson Chris Loftis confirmed the shooting to the Seattle Times.

“Suspect detained,” Loftis said. “No information confirmed on victim or any injury status.”

Loftis described the situation as, “Fluid situation with two groups of size, both including heavily armed individuals.”

There was violence in Olympia last Saturday as well. There was a nasty brawl between “Back the Blue” supporters and Black Bloc members.

“We did make an arrest for a subject that appeared to fire at least one round from a handgun into the opposing crowd,” the Olympia Police Department said last week. “Any witnesses to that crime should contact @OlyPD through the 911 system.”

Ahead of the Trump rally, there were already violent clashes on Friday night between pro-Trump groups and purported members of Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

Hundreds of Trump supporters gathered in D.C. on Friday, the night before the “Stop the Steal” rally, as seen in footage from videographer Tomas Morales. Video from Raws Media shows pro-Trump groups sing the Star-Spangled Banner, and chanting: “America first!” and “U-S-A! U-S-A!”

Trump supporters carried a massive American flag through the D.C. streets to display their patriotic pride.

Meanwhile, a music band was playing a song with anti-Metropolitan Police lyrics: “DC hates you, f*** you MPD.” The video was shared by TheBlaze reporter Elijah Schaffer, host of the “Slightly Offens*ve” show.

While walking through Black Lives Matter Plaza, Trump supporters were harassed and threatened by Antifa and BLM members. Antifa allegedly maced a Trump supporter in the face.

Then just before midnight, several brawls erupted between a reported coalition of Antifa with BLM versus pro-Trump groups, including Proud Boys, according to investigative reporter Drew Hernandez. Members of the Proud Boys could be heard chanting: “F*** Antifa!” There were reportedly several injuries and arrests because of the fighting.

Friday’s rally happened just three days before the Electoral College formally casts their votes in the 2020 presidential election.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Trump supporters had begun to assemble at Washington’s Freedom Plaza for the “Stop the Steal” rally.

Trump supporters blasted Fox News correspondents on Saturday at a spirited rally in Georgia. At the event in Valdosta, Trump followers lambasted the cable news network for it’s presidential election coverage.

President Donald Trump addressed a large crowd at his “Victory Rally” in Georgia, where he voiced his support of Republican senatorial candidates David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in their battle against Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock ahead of the Jan. 5 runoff elections.

Trump also used the high-energy rally to spotlight his challenge of the 2020 presidential election results, especially in the state of Georgia.

“We can fight for the presidency and fight to elect our two great senators and we can do it at the same time. We can do it at the same time, it’s alright,” Trump told the crowd.

Perdue and Loeffler briefly took to the stage to garner support from the pro-Trump crowd but were drowned out by boisterous chants of “Fight for Trump!” and “Stop the steal!”

Before the event took place, numerous Trump supporters spotted and then confronted members of Fox News. Trump devotees slammed Fox News for their coverage of the 2020 presidential election, especially early calling the state of Arizona in favor of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

One Trump supporter is seen on video telling a Fox News reporter, “Fox News does not call the election.”

According to Sky News producer Sarah Gough, the “Fox News journalists were getting the most abuse” from the pro-Trump crowd, a dubious honor that is usually dedicated to CNN. There were also shouts of “We trusted you!” and “Traitors!” aimed at the cable news network.

There was a chant of “Fox is fake news!”

Jennifer Jacobs, the senior White House reporter for Bloomberg News, noted that one man was shouting, “The truth is all we want!” He was reportedly escorted out of the rally, while the crowd yelled at security to “leave him alone!”

Since Election Day, Fox News has seen its viewership plummet. Fox News’ total viewership declined by a whopping 32% in the two weeks after the Nov. 3 election compared to its viewership in the two weeks prior to the election.

Pro-Trump lawyers Sidney Powell and Lin Wood urge Georgians not to vote in upcoming Senate runoffs unless system changed

Pro-Trump attorneys Sidney Powell and L. Lin Wood are urging Georgians to boycott the state’s upcoming U.S. Senate races unless officials change the voting systems to guarantee election security, claiming that voter fraud is so widespread that their ballots would not be counted fairly.

What are the details?

Powell and Wood have spearheaded legal challenges to the results of the Nov. 3 election, echoing President Donald Trump’s allegations that the results of his race against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden were rigged nationwide.

The lawyers have acted on their own outside of the Trump campaign, however, which distanced itself from Powell after she claimed during a campaign press conference that electronic voting systems throughout the country were manipulated as part of a broad conspiracy involving foreign countries.

During a “Stop the Steal” rally for Trump supporters in Georgia on Wednesday, Powell and Wood both used their speaking time to discourage attendees from showing up to the polls next month in the critical re-election races for sitting Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue.

“I would encourage all Georgians to make it known that you will not vote at all unless your vote is secure,” Powell told the crowd, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Greg Bluestein, who tweeted, “She wants system of signed paper ballots, no Dominion voting machines. Basically, she’s urging Republicans not to vote in the Jan. 5 runoffs.”

Wood took the message a step further, criticizing Sens. Loeffler and Perdue for not being in attendance at the rally, saying, “Where’s Kelly Loeffler here? Where’s David Perdue? He ought to be standing right here.”

“They have not earned your vote,” he continued. “Don’t you give it to them. Why would you go back and vote in another rigged election for God’s sake? Fix it! You gotta fix it!”

Wood is pressing for the Georgia legislature to hold a special session and change election mechanisms in enough time for the runoffs that are weeks away.

President Donald Trump is slated to headline a rally for Loeffler and Perdue this coming Saturday, signaling that he still wants supporters to come out and vote for the GOP candidates. He tweeted Wednesday, “Will be going to Georgia for a big Trump Rally in support of our two great Republican Senators, David and Kelly. They are fantastic people who love their Country and love their State. We must work hard and be sure they win.”

In reaction to Powell’s comments on Wednesday, Trump’s former White House press secretary Sean Spicer tweeted, “Unbelievably unhelpful. Everything is on the line in these 2 #GASenate races. If Dems win & [Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)] controls the Senate they will end the filibuster, pack the court, give DC 2 Dem Senators,& roll back so many of the great – conservative – policies of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump.”

If Biden is inaugurated and Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff both win against Loeffler and Perdue respectively, the Senate would be split 50-50 and a Vice President Kamala Harris would serve as the tie-breaking vote in the upper chamber. That would mean Democrats would have control of the White House and both chambers of Congress.

A Black Lives Matter protester who was filmed punching a Trump supporter in the head at last weekend’s Million MAGA March in Washington, D.C., has reportedly been identified as a journalism student.

Violence erupted in the nation’s capital Saturday when Black Lives Matter and Antifa groups clashed with Trump supporters marching to protest the disputed results of the 2020 presidential election. Graphic videos of multiple attacks in D.C. were posted on social media, including video of a protester running up and punching a Trump supporter from behind at Black Lives Matter Plaza.

The Post Millennial reported that the assailant in the video is Brittany S. McAlister, 29, of Washington, D.C. McAlister is a student studying journalism at Howard University and also works as a freelance journalist, according to the Post Millennial.

In another incident captured on video, McAlister allegedly kicked an unconscious man after he had reportedly been been sucker-punched by Kenneth Wayne Deberry, 39, who was arrested and charged by police.

According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department, McAlister has not been arrested and is not yet charged with any crime, though police say they are looking for the suspect in the film.

D.C. police are asking for help identifying suspects in violent crimes captured on video Saturday.

The Post Millennial reported screenshots of a tweet from the far-left group Refuse Fascism that has since been deleted profiling McAlister, who gave a speech at Black Lives Matter Plaza. McAlister’s social media accounts have been deactivated.

Thousands of Trump supporters had gathered in D.C. for a “Stop the Steal” rally at Freedom Plaza to show support for President Donald Trump as his campaign continues to challenge the results of the election. During the day protests were peaceful. But as night fell, counterprotesters committed acts of violence against Trump supporters. People were attacked from behind, an elderly man was shoved to the ground, a couple was harassed, and others were brutally beaten, with horrifying video of the attacks circulating on social media.

Police arrested at least 21 people in D.C. following these violent incidents.

President Trump weighed in on the violence on Twitter, criticizing D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for “not doing her job.”

In a statement given to Fox News, Howard University strongly condemned “all forms of violence and abhorrent behavior.”

“The University has stringent policies and procedures in place to investigate potential wrongdoing and will take the appropriate action against any student found to be in violation of our Code of Conduct,” the university said.

Trump-hating motorist spits on MAGA guy’s banner, appears to curse him out as he speeds off — and then pays for it, bigly

A left-wing motorist decided to take some time out of his day to jabber with supporters of President Donald Trump at a “Stop the Steal” rally in Houston over the weekend — and it ended badly for him.

What are the details?

A short clip circulating on social media shows one of the Trump supporters standing on a sidewalk holding a pro-Trump banner in front of the driver’s open window. They exchange words — some of them of the four-letter variety — and the phrase “you lost” is stated.

At one point the driver appears to spit on the banner — his face is obscured by the banner, but the distinct sound of spitting is audible — and the Trump supporter appears to spit back at the driver.

Then as the driver speeds away, he makes the mistake of turning his head back toward the Trump supporter in order to deliver one, final parting shot: “Stupid asshole!” he apparently yells.

Turns out it was a major mistake on his part.

He promptly crashes his car into a light pole — to the delight of nearby Trump fans.

“That’s what you get! All that hate!” someone yells at the driver, soon adding, “Look what it did to you, man!”

Another Trump supporter tells the driver his accident is “unfortunate” as the motorist unsuccessfully tries gunning the car’s engine to move it away from the pole — and the damaged vehicle just won’t cooperate.

Seconds later the same Trump supporter notices flashing lights and announces, “Oh, and now you’ve got the cops here!”

What happened next?

Another much longer video shows the aftermath of the crash, with vehicles from the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office arriving on the scene.

The longer video — which focused on the rally — featured a short interview with a woman who said she and other Trump supporters were behaving “peacefully” when the motorist in question “drove up, and he yelled some derogatory words at us, and then he spit. And after he spit … he sped away really fast and lost control of his car and crashed into the light post.”

The woman added that the outcome was “hilarious” and characterized it as “totally funny karma. This is what happens. We’re minding our own business, he comes around … talking smack, cursing and spitting — spitting during COVID — on us, and then he speeds off and crashes. Karma. Trump 2020!”

The woman interviewed in the longer clip claimed the driver was arrested, but the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office on Monday told TheBlaze that wasn’t the case.

The official said there were no charges or citations issued in connection to Saturday’s incident, which took place in front of a downtown courthouse near the 1200 block of Preston Street. The official also said a Trump supporter and a supporter of former Vice President Joe Biden engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a “spitting match,” after which the pro-Biden driver hit a light pole. Neither side wanted to press charges, the official also told TheBlaze.

Thousands of Trump supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., on Saturday for the Million MAGA March. The first hours of the rally for President Donald Trump was a peaceful protest. Then counterprotesters entered the area by mid-afternoon. Right before nightfall, there were numerous attacks on Trump supporters, including an assault of a multiracial family and one man was knocked out. The violence against Trump supporters only grew as the massive crowds from the “Stop the Steal” rally diminished and the sun set.

A swarm of counterprotesters surrounded and harassed an elderly couple holding a Trump flag in Washington, D.C. Some in the group were holding signs for Refuse Fascism, a self-described “national movement organizing to drive out the Trump/Pence regime.”

A teen couple attempted to flee from a gang of counterprotesters; the girl is seen terrified and crying. They are hit with liquid, and then two women try to rip the girl’s “Make America Great Again” hat from her hands, as seen in footage taken by Drew Hernandez.

Black bloc assailants brutally attack a man and then beat him with a flagpole attached to an American flag. A person on a megaphone shouts, “What the f*** did you think was gonna happen?”

Black bloc protesters shot fireworks at Trump supporters who were dining outside. One of the fireworks exploded dangerously close to a couple.

Hundreds of anti-fascist and Black Lives Matter supporters swarmed hotels that Trump supporters were staying in try to intimidate them. The crowd, some waving Biden flags, chant: “F*** Donald Trump.”

Police used a chemical agent on anti-Trump protesters after they refused to back away from the Capital Hilton.

A street store selling MAGA merchandise was completely ransacked.

There was a huge brawl between Proud Boys and anti-fascists.

Despite all of the violence directed against them, Trump supporters rallied on Saturday night to sing the national anthem in unison.

Anarchist and anti-fascist groups planning to ‘overwhelm’ ‘Million MAGA March’ in DC — Trump hints at attending

Trump supporters will gather Saturday in Washington, D.C., for the “Million MAGA March” and a “Stop the Steal” rally. Anarchist and anti-fascist groups have responded by planning counterprotests.

Pro-Trump groups from around the country will converge on the nation’s capital this weekend to rally around President Donald Trump. The Trump supporters will assemble at noon Saturday at Freedom Plaza, near the White House and along the National Mall.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Thursday she expects the Million MAGA March to be “quite large.”

Trump supporters had already gathered in D.C. on Friday afternoon, 24 hours before the Million MAGA March.

On Friday afternoon, President Trump hinted that he may make an appearance at the event.

“Heartwarming to see all of the tremendous support out there, especially the organic Rallies that are springing up all over the Country, including a big one on Saturday in D.C. I may even try to stop by and say hello,” Trump tweeted. “This Election was Rigged, from Dominion all the way up & down!”

Several counterprotests have been scheduled by left-wing groups.

Refuse Fascism, a self-described “national movement organizing to drive out the Trump/Pence regime,” has scheduled its counterprotest to take place 30 minutes before the Trump rally at Freedom Plaza in an effort to “overwhelm” Trump supporters.

“We are gathering non-violently,” Lucha Bright of Refuse Fascism told WUSA-TV. “We are not intending to engage them. We want to overwhelm them with our numbers. If they attack us, that is not out of the realm of possibilities of what they do. But we are hoping, especially if we gather in large numbers, that we will overwhelm them with our strength.”

Andy Zee, a member of the Refuse Fascism Editorial Board, said, “We must not allow the Trump/Pence regime to illegitimately overturn this election. That is why it is so urgent that people come out on Saturday to say no to Trump still trying to steal the election.”

“Trump and his minions LOST! Now they are planning a One Million MAGA March this Saturday in Washington D.C. We must STAND on our victory and not allow them to dominate the public discourse or the public square,” the description of the counterprotest reads. “They are trying to steal the elections by sewing confusing about the election results & to intimidate people.”

At the time of publication, only 19 people have signed up on the website to attend the event.

They/Them Collective, a self-described “anarchist abolitionist” group, has planned a “F*** MAGA” protest at noon Saturday at the Supreme Court, according to DCist. The invitation for the protest reads, “Last time white liberals told us to ignore the fash back in 2016 he became president for 3 years, 297 days, 6 hours, 49 minutes, 48 seconds.” The group encourages participants to “wear black.”

All Out D.C., a “collective of D.C. antifascist activists” aiming to “burn down the American plantation,” planned a noon protest Saturday to “defend D.C. from white nationalism and secure a trump-free future.” The group advocates attendees “wear black to show solidarity.”

The right-wing Proud Boys group, self-described “western chauvinists,” will also be at the Million MAGA March. Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio told CBS News, “We’re known for fighting back. I’m not going to hide that, I’m not going to apologize for it.”

“There’s 70 million pissed off Americans and not one building has been burned down. I think if the president wouldn’t won that night, there would have been chaos,” Tarrio said of Election Day results.

District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) said police would be out in numbers to ensure peaceful First Amendment demonstrations.

“We continue to follow those activities and be prepared for those activities,” Bowser told reporters on Tuesday. “Our police chief will have a similar posture this weekend as he did last week. And we will be there to support peaceful exercise of First Amendment demonstrations.

“The gun laws here are different than in other places. People who have a permit to carry a weapon can carry a weapon,” she added. “We call it a concealed carry permit.”

Pro-Trump groups plan weekend #StopTheSteal MAGA march in D.C.

An assortment of pro-Trump groups will rally Saturday in Washington, D.C., to protest perceived election fraud and support President Donald Trump, who has not yet conceded the presidential election to former Vice President Joe Biden.

Various groups, including the Million MAGA March, Women for Trump, and Stop the Steal DC have invited all Trump supporters to participate in an organized protest at noon Saturday at Freedom Plaza, near the White House and along the National Mall, multiple outlets reported.

According to WDVM-TV, counterprotests are planned at Black Lives Matter Plaza. The Metropolitan Police Department released plans for no parking zones in and around the downtown area to accommodate the protests.

“Our Police Chief will have a similar posture this weekend as he did last week, and we will be there to support peaceful exercise of First Amendment demonstrations,” D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said at a news conference.

D.C. police reportedly advised those who plan to attend the protests that the capital’s notoriously strict gun laws will be enforced.

WTOP national security correspondent J.J. Green reported that while the planned protests are gaining attention and interaction on social media, some followers are skeptical of the wisdom of traveling to Washington.

“There are not a lot of people biting on this; there are a lot of people following them on social media. But there are a lot of people that are doubtful about the wisdom of coming here to do this,” Green said.

The protests are already being characterized as “white nationalist” by mainstream media outlets. Politico reported that “Oath Keepers, Three Percenters, Infowars fanatics, Groypers, Proud Boys, white nationalists, neo-Nazis and the people who would simply call themselves die-hard MAGA” plan to attend.

WTOP’s report noted that federal, state, and local law enforcement organizations are monitoring the groups planning to attend the protest. Green reported that it is “not likely” that a repeat of the 2017 clash between white nationalists and counterprotesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, will happen again.

“In part because authorities here are so well-prepared and have that knowledge under their belt. And … you can’t carry guns in D.C. … I’m pretty sure that any organizers are making it very clear to people who come to D.C., ‘Do not bring a gun.’ Other weapons maybe, but it’s not likely that this is going to turn into that,” Green said.

The Twitter account for Million Mega March posted a public prayer asking God to let the march happen peacefully, “without conflict from those who wish to agitate and cause violence.”

Pro-Trump ‘Stop the Steal’ group with over 360K members gets shut down by Facebook: ‘This is outrageous!’

A massive pro-Trump Facebook group named “Stop the Steal” was shut down by the social media company after quickly amassing over 360,000 followers since it was created on Wednesday. The group described itself as pledging to “do whatever it takes to ensure the integrity of this election for the good of the nation.”

Amy Kremer, a former Tea Party activist and co-founder of Women for Trump, started the Stop the Steal Facebook group. The group page was run by the Women for America First, an organization led by Kremer that describes itself as: “Engaging, inspiring and empowering women to make a difference.”

The description of the now-deleted page reads: “Democrats are scheming to disenfranchise and nullify Republican votes. It’s up to us, the American People, to fight and to put a stop to it.”

On Thursday morning, Kremer warned that “Facebook is flagging almost every post as false,” and added that the social network is “probably going to shut us down.”

Shortly before 2 p.m., Kremer announced that the Stop the Steal Facebook group had been removed.

“Wow. @Facebook just shut down the @america1stwomen #StoptheSteal group The group wasn’t even 24 hours old and had over 350K members,” Kremer wrote on Twitter. “The left is trying to steal an election and Social media is complicit. This is outrageous!”

According to a screenshot of the group’s page, it had attracted 365,000 followers in 22 hours. Reuters noted that the page was adding 1,000 new members every 10 seconds.

“The group was organized around the delegitimization of the election process, and we saw worrying calls for violence from some members of the group,” a Facebook spokeswoman said in a statement.

The group was organizing protests and called for “boots on the ground to protect the integrity of the vote.”

Before Facebook banned the Stop the Steal group, several media outlets were calling for the page to be de-platformed:

  • Media Matters wrote an article with the headline, “Right-wing influencers are using the #StopTheSteal hashtag to buoy Trump’s attempts to undercut democracy.”
  • Rolling Stone stated that the group was “spreading dangerous misinformation” in an article titled, “Pro-Trump ‘Stop the Steal’ Group Is Rapidly Expanding, and Facebook Is Letting It.”
  • Mother Jones published an article titled, “A Massive “Stop the Count” Facebook Group Has Ties to Republican Operatives.”

When Facebook users clicked on the group’s page, they were encouraged to sign up for updates through the website. The domain for the site is registered to the Liberty Lab, which was involved in Newt Gingrich’s 2012 presidential campaign.

Social media censorship of conservatives has been a hot topic. During testimony before the Senate last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg claimed that he was not aware that the company’s head election integrity official had previously worked as a policy adviser to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Twitter has slapped a label on any tweet that makes claims about election results before they’re officially called and any other “misleading information.”
