Children Christmas Coronavirus tyranny Gov. gretchen whitmer Grandparents Intelwars Michigan Santa watch

Smiling Democratic Gov. Whitmer appears with Santa in video, urges Michigan children not to visit grandparents for Christmas

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer posted a video on her Twitter page using Santa Claus to spread the message of mask-wearing and social distancing — and the Democrat had an extra-special holiday message for the children gathered on the video chat.

“And another way to stay safe during the holiday is to stay home but call your grandparents and your cousins and your family,” Whitmer told the tiny tots with their eyes all aglow, adding, “It’s the a safest way to tell the people you love how much you care about them. This year is it has to look a little bit different so we can stay safe.”

What else was said on the clip?

Whitmer started things off by referring to Santa, her “special guest” on the chat, as “someone who’s been really following the rules and making sure that he stays safe and the elves stay safe.”

Then in what appeared to be preselected questions, the children on the video chat took turns asking Santa questions, such as “Santa, do you have to wear a mask?” and “How can we keep people safe for Christmas?”

St. Nick answered the latter query: “What I would suggest to do is what the governor is telling all the people of the great state of Michigan to do: Social distance, wash your hands, and make sure you wear your mask when you’re outside your home.”

How did folks react?

Whitmer — who’s drawn national attention for her strict coronavirus lockdown efforts — certainly has her critics. But she has plenty of supporters as well, so reactions to her Twitter video were a mixed bag.

Some commenters gushed with admiration:

  • “Happy holidays, Governor,” one user said. “Helluva job this year under extraordinary circumstances. You are everything a public servant should be. A tower of power. A leader. Compassionate. Tough. Smart as hell.”
  • “I don’t even live in your state but you Rock,” another commenter said. “Wished you were our Governor.”
  • “Thanks for doing something sweet for the kids this Christmas Governor Whitmer! Merry Christmas!” another user wrote. “To the conservatives that said this was a hoax and now mad their family members are dying due to COVID-19 and stuck at home, you can get coal.”

But Whitmer’s detractors were just as passionate in response to her Santa video for kids:

  • “You doing this qualifies as child abuse,” one user said.
  • “That’s nice since a lot of kids won’t be having much of a Christmas due to your insane lockdowns,” another user noted.
  • “Nothing like seeing Santa on a screen while you sit home learning next to nothing with your abusive parents who’ve lost their jobs,” another commenter said.
  • “You exemplify the problem in politics/government today,” another user wrote. “You believe that you are a ‘class’ above, and the ‘regular people’ have no right to question you. You are an oath breaking/ignoring traitorous bilge rat that should be removed from office and society.”

‘Get him, Santa!’: Undercover cop dressed as Santa tackles suspected car thief as ‘elf’ partner detains alleged accomplice at gunpoint

Cities across America see serious upticks in retail theft every year during the holiday season, and Riverside, California, is no exception. So the Riverside Police Department set up a special “holiday enforcement program” to target shoplifters and other crooks at one of the city’s major shopping centers.

The department’s program, dubbed “Santa’s Intervention,” featured a detective dressed as Santa Claus and an officer dressed as the Big Guy’s helper elf.

Last week, the operation nabbed more than just the usual shoplifters: Santa and his pal took down a pair of suspected car thieves. The arrests featured Saint Nick tackling a suspect while his helper elf held a reported accomplice at gunpoint.

What happened now?

Riverside cops set up Santa’s Intervention outside the Target store at the Canyon Springs shopping center on Thursday, the RPD said in a
post on Facebook.

During their operation, officers made three retail theft-related arrests. Then, toward the end of their efforts that day, things got interesting.

According to the RPD’s post, detectives got information about three men who appeared to be casing cars in the parking lots at the shopping center. Authorities said they then saw the three suspects in the act of stealing a Honda CR-V. One of the three suspects drove away, but the other two were apprehended after attempting to flee on foot when they saw law enforcement.

Part of the theft was caught on video, as was the apprehension of the two suspects who did not get away.

One of the two suspects was ordered to get on his knees and detained at gunpoint by the helper elf.

As the elf kept his gun trained on one suspect, Santa took off and tackled the second suspect who was resisting arrest.

As Santa chugged down the hill to where other police officers were attempting to arrest the second suspect, another officer who was filming the arrests shouted, “Get him, Santa!”

The jolly old elf then performed a two-point takedown on the suspect.

His efforts allowed the other officers to cuff and stuff the alleged would-be car thief.

According to the RPD, of the one of the two detained suspects was later identified and released. The other was arrested for possession of illegal drugs and resisting arrest.

Police said they are still looking for the third suspect, the man who actually drove away in the car. A still from the video shows the suspect police are currently searching for sitting in the driver’s seat of the stolen Honda.

After woke Santa squashes little boy’s Nerf gun Christmas wish, silver linings emerge — along with one huge surprise

One story that hit more than a few front pages Monday was the sad tale of a little boy asking a mall Santa Claus for a Nerf gun for Christmas, only to have the woke St. Nick deny him flat.

“No guns,” Santa told the kid, before adding “not even a Nerf gun.”

With that the boy turned and gave his mom a heartbroken stare:

Talk about a Scrooge move.

To make matters worse, the little boy began crying — after which his mom consoled him and let him know that he’d still get his Nerf gun:

Here’s the clip that has everyone buzzing:

The rest of the story

The boy’s mother posted the same video on her Facebook page Sunday afternoon, noting it was the first year her son was “excited to go see Santa” — but that the guy who put on the red suit and white beard also put his politics front and center.

“It was supposed to be magical, but instead I had to watch my sweet little boy fight back tears because Santa told him No because of his own personal beliefs,” Sabella DeCarlo wrote. “I had to think fast and explain to him that this Santa was just a helper and not the real guy. I just wanted to console my baby and get him out of there; flipping out on Santa would have only made it worse. His Elfie is going to bring him a Nerf gun directly from the North Pole, from the real Santa, tonight.”

And as it turns out, some good news has emerged from the misty-eyed moment.

The mom’s post received an addendum from a friend who said the mall — Harlem Irving Plaza in Norridge, Illinois, a village about 20 minutes northwest of Chicago — “has responded quickly and with kindness and understanding. They have a special surprise for Michael that we will share later.”

The addendum also stated that “many people have offered to send Michael a Nerf gun. His wish list has more than been fulfilled so if you’re still feeling generous please contact his mother, Sabella DeCarlo, as they are organizing a large Nerf and toy donation to children in need! We’re trying to turn this unfortunate incident into something positive and spread cheer to children who really need it!”

That Santa really was woke

The mall added its own Facebook post, expressing its regret over the situation and saying that the Santa in question “is heartbroken and crushed that he has made this child so sad and upset, and turned in his resignation. The Santa company will continue to remind all Santas how important it is to not impose personal opinions during visits with the children.”

And speaking of that ‘special surprise’…

The mall added that the “real” Santa visited Michael at his home Monday to bring him a Nerf gun — and that “we hope we restored Christmas magic to this boy and his family with Santa’s special visit.”

Looks like it worked:

anti gun boy Christmas Gift Intelwars Leftists mall Santa watch

Politically correct Santa Claus shoots down little boy’s Nerf gun Christmas present wish. And the kid starts bawling.

It could’ve been one of those cute videos a parent revisits frequently when the mood strikes because it automatically elicits smiles. After all, what could go wrong with your little boy asking Santa Claus for a gift at the local mall?

Well, a whole lot if the St. Nick your kid encounters is apparently of the woke variety.

What happened?

In the clip, a little boy sits across a table from Santa who asks, “What do you want for Christmas?”

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @WhiteHovse

The understandably shy youngster hesitates at first and looks down; you can barely hear what he’s saying.

“You don’t know?” Santa asks incredulously.

Soon the kid comes to life and begins to reveal what he wants. But Santa doesn’t seem to catch what the kid says — then cocks his head to the side and utters a noticeably louder, “What?”

‘No guns’

Apparently, the boy asked for a gun and Santa immediately shoots that down: “No guns.”

The boy’s mother quickly interjects that her son means a Nerf gun, but Santa is unmoved: “Nope, not even a Nerf gun.”

The poor kid then turns and looks at his mom in disbelief:

“If your dad wants to get it for you that’s fine, but I can’t bring it to you,” Santa continues. “What else would you like? Lots of other toys: Legos, bicycles, there’s cars and trucks. What do you think?”

Yeah, right buddy.

Then comes the crying

Within a few moments the boy turns away from Santa and begins crying. At that point, his mom — who’s holding an infant — comes over to comfort him.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @WhiteHovse

“Aww,” Santa tells the boy. “Don’t cry.”

Mom fortunately tells her son that he’ll still get his Nerf gun — no thanks to the guy in the red suit.

Here’s the clip:

It isn’t clear exactly where or when the video was recorded, but the fact that the boy and his mother are wearing coronavirus masks means the encounter couldn’t have occurred more than a few weeks ago, if not sooner. It was posted Monday to Twitter.

What did observers have to say?

As far as how folks reacted to the clip, it seemed to be a mixed bag.

“The kid isn’t crying because he didn’t get a toy, he’s crying because Santa himself told him that he’s not going to buy him something as innocuous as a Nerf gun,” one commenter wrote. “Just more social indoctrination starting earlier and earlier. The mom should’ve let ‘Santa’ have it.”

But more than a few observers noted that Santa’s hands may have been tied. One offered, “I like to think it was more of a rule that they gave the Santa rather than him denying the kid a toy he’s not even going to be giving him in the first place. Say you don’t give away anything that resembles a weapon or firearm so that the Karen moms don’t get triggered.”

Yet others had little sympathy for Father Christmas:

  • “I don’t agree with cancel culture, but in this case, that Santa needs a good firing,” another user said. “At the stake. With nice dry wood.”
  • “Rather than being a douchebag, all he had to do was tell the kid he’s having trouble finding those and that he’ll see what he can do,” another commenter said. “He still gets to be clown and deny the kid, but the kid likely walks away without bursting into tears.”
  • “I would have been screaming at him and demanding to see a manager if he had sent my son into tears like that,” another person declared.
