bid Caitlyn Jenner California Gavin Newsom Governor Intelwars republican

Caitlyn Jenner mulling bid for California governor, in talks with GOP operatives: report

Former Olympian turned reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner is reportedly plotting a run for governor of California with the help of Republican operatives, as embattled Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom faces a recall effort.

What are the details?

Axios reported Tuesday that according to three sources, Jenner, 71, “is talking with political consultants as she actively explores a run for governor of California.”

The outlet added that “Jenner is being assisted in her consideration by Caroline Wren, a longtime GOP fundraiser” who “initially met Jenner through her work with the American Unity Fund, a GOP nonprofit focused on LGBT issues.”

Jenner, a longtime Republican, is a transgender activist who transitioned in 2015.

Wren also raised money for President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign, Axios noted. Jenner and Wren declined to comment on the story.

According to The Hill, Jenner’s manager, Sophia Hutchins, earlier this year dismissed claims that Jenner was looking at a gubernatorial run, saying in February that Jenner “has never considered running for governor and is very happy doing the work that she is doing to promote LGBT rights and spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 10 children.”

However, Jenner, did consider running to unseat Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D) in 2017. Although that bid never materialized, Jenner might now see an opportunity for statewide office with the California’s Democratic governor in a vulnerable position amid a campaign to have him ousted.

An effort to recall Newsom was launched amid outrage over the governor’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, particularly his high profile visit to The French Laundry restaurant with a large group of people — which was in violation of his own coronavirus restrictions.

The recall campaign collected 2.1 million signatures that are currently being reviewed by election officials in the state for certification. With only 1.5 million valid signatures needed to put the recall on the ballot, the recall is expected to be certified — in which case an election on the recall could happen as early as October.

What did the former governor say?

Newsom has blamed the effort on Republicans, but former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger warned the Democrat last week that the recall scenario looks very similar to the one that made the Hollywood megastar the state’s chief executive.

Schwarzenegger won election in 2003 after a statewide energy crisis that sparked a recall effort against then-Gov. Gray Davis (D). Schwarzenegger won, and the rest is history. But he says it could happen again, this year.

“It’s pretty much the same atmosphere today as it was then,” Schwarzenegger told Politico. “There was dissatisfaction, to the highest level [in political leadership]. It’s the same vibe.”

Schwarzenegger argued that the recall against Newsom is not as partisan as Democrats are making it out to be. The former governor says the Republican Party in California doesn’t even have the power to get people elected, and that “these are the signatures of the ordinary folks that have signed on” to boot out Newsom.

Are Trump’s Lawyers Tanking The Impeachment Trial On Purpose?

Do they secretly want Trump to lose?  To me, that appears to be the best explanation for the utter incompetence that has been displayed by Trump’s lawyers so far.  Yes, they didn’t have that much time to prepare.  But these are very experienced attorneys that have spent decades perfecting their skills in court.  Even with minimal preparation, these veterans should have been able to put up a competent defense.  But instead, we witnessed the sort of a performance that we might expect from Lionel Hutz from the Simpsons.  Something seems really off, and that does not bode well for Trump.

In the legal world, justice is not always served.  Really good lawyers can often win cases that should definitely not be won, and bad lawyers can lose cases that should definitely not be lost.

And right now, Trump’s lawyers are totally fumbling the football.

Bruce Castor has been particularly bad.  After watching his argument, Trump was “furious and beyond angry” according to Fox News…

“Two sources in fact, who spent time with the former president today described him as being quote, ‘furious and beyond angry’ with his impeachment defense team,” Fox News correspondent Kevin Corke reported. “He was especially upset with attorney Bruce Castor, as you pointed out for his quotes, rambling opening argument. The former president spending the day watching the trial from inside his private quarters at Mar-A-Lago, no golf with the very same plan for tomorrow.”

In fact, it is being reported that Trump even considered firing Castor.

I think that he should have, because there is no way that Castor should ever be allowed to get up in front of the U.S. Senate again.

To say that it was a disastrous performance would be a major understatement.

For one thing, a lawyer should never, ever heap praise on the job that the other side has done…

‘I’ll be quite frank with you, we changed what we were going to do on account that we thought that the House manager’s presentation was well done,’ he said.

We are being told that Trump was screaming at the television when Castor was speaking, and I would have probably done the same thing if my lawyer said such a thing.

After telling the Senate about the wonderful job the impeachment managers were doing, Castor spent most of his time incoherently rambling about nothing.  Here is one example

‘Senators of the United States – they’re not ordinary people. They’re extraordinary people in the technical sense – extraordinary people,’ Castor said to the room of all 100 U.S. senators before launching into a rambling and seemingly unrelated story about listening to records of past senators speaking.

‘When I was growing up in suburban Philadelphia, my parents were big fans of Senator Everett Dirksen from Illinois. And Senator Dirksen recorded a series of lectures that my parents had on a record and – we still know what records are right? On the thing you put the needle down on and it played,’ he said.

What does that have to do with anything?

And to top it off, Castor suggested that the American people were “smart” for voting Trump out of office

“The reason I’m having trouble with the argument is that the American people just spoke, and they just changed administrations. So in the light most favorable to my colleagues on the other side of the aisle here, their system works,” Castor said.

“The people are smart enough, in the light most favorable to them, they’re smart enough to pick a new administration if they don’t like the old one, and they just did,” he added.

When asked about Castor’s performance by Newsmax, Alan Dershowitz left no doubt about how he felt

“There is no argument. I have no idea what he’s doing. I have no idea why he’s saying what he’s saying.”

Castor even made the Texas lawyer that couldn’t turn off a kitten filter during a Zoom call look good.

Either Castor really is the worst lawyer in America, or something fishy is going on.

Even Ted Cruz, who we know is solidly on Trump’s side, was forced to admit that Castor did not do well

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said the whole trial is a ‘waste of time’ before struggling to say what he thought about Castor, starting with a laugh when he was asked.

‘I don’t think the lawyers did the most effective job,’ Cruz told reporters on Capitol Hill after a long pause.

The good news is that David Schoen did a marginally better job than Castor did, but that isn’t saying much.

As bad as he was, even Jackie Chiles from Seinfeld would have done a better job than Castor.

And we haven’t even heard from the third member of Trump’s team yet.  His name is Michael Van der Veen, and last year he actually sued Trump for saying that mail-in voting is unsafe…

One of President Trump’s impeachment lawyers previously filed a lawsuit against him. Last year, Michael van der Veen sued President Trump for making “repeated claims” about mail-in voting being unsafe. A personal injury lawyer by trade, Van der Veen had sued Trump on behalf of an independent political candidate in Pennsylvania.

In addition, he has also previously called Trump a “crook”.

Yes, I am sure that he will do a bang up job of defending Trump.

Many had assumed that it would be impossible to get the 67 votes needed for a conviction in the Senate, but if I was Trump I would be extremely concerned about how things are playing out.

At this point, Mitch McConnell is indicating that Republicans should feel free to vote however they want, and he won’t even commit to acquitting Trump himself

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is signaling to fellow Republicans that the final vote on Donald Trump’s impeachment is matter of conscience and that senators who disputed the constitutionality of the trial could still vote to convict the former president, according to three people familiar with his thinking.

The Kentucky Republican has also suggested that he hasn’t made up his mind how he’ll vote, two of the people said, even though he voted Tuesday to declare it unconstitutional for the Senate to hear the case against a former president.

Like I said earlier, something is up.

Things could still go either way, and if Trump does end up getting convicted, that will cause a lot more political chaos in the months and years ahead.

I just don’t understand what Mitch McConnell is thinking.

He has got to know that convicting Trump would rip the Republican Party in two.

Is that what he wants?

Only time will tell…

Alert: They Are Going To Try To Ban Donald Trump From Running For President For The Rest Of His Life

They were never going to be satisfied with just defeating Donald Trump in one election.  Ultimately, their goal is to personally destroy Donald Trump and the movement that he started so that it will never rise again.  They want to make sure that Trump will not run for president in 2024 or any future election, and they could potentially accomplish that if there is a vote in the U.S. Senate on whether or not Trump should be banned from running for office for the rest of his life.  This has never been done to any other president in our entire history.  Not even Richard Nixon was treated like this.  But the Democrats want to make this happen.  These people are playing for keeps, and they really do intend to strike a death blow to Trump’s political career.

But before this vote can take place, the impeachment trial must happen in the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. Senate must vote to convict.

It is going to take 67 members of the Senate to convict Trump, and right now Democrats hold just 50 seats.

So they are going to need 17 Republicans to vote with them, and there are already indications that some of the usual suspects such as Romney, Sasse, Collins and Murkowski are going to vote against Trump.

If Trump is convicted, new Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has already pledged that “there will be a vote on barring him from running again”

“A Senate trial can begin immediately, with agreement from the current Senate Majority Leader to reconvene the Senate for an emergency session, or it will begin after January 19th,” he said. “But make no mistake, there will be an impeachment trial in the United States Senate; there will be a vote on convicting the president for high crimes and misdemeanors; and if the president is convicted, there will be a vote on barring him from running again.”

So what that would mean is that Trump would be unable to run for president in 2024, 2028 or ever again.

And it wouldn’t actually take 67 votes in the Senate to disqualify him from future office.

Instead, it would just take a simply majority

In one important way, disqualification would be the easier vote.

Conviction of Trump requires a two-thirds majority, 67 of 100 senators; a vote to bar him from future office requires only a simple majority, 51 of 100.

All it would take is for one Republican to vote with the Democrats and Trump’s political career would be over.

So I wouldn’t be printing up those “Trump 2024” shirts just yet.

The key to this whole process is Mitch McConnell.  If Mitch McConnell comes out strongly against voting to convict Trump, there is no way that the Democrats will get to 67 votes, and so there will never even be a vote on barring Trump from future office.

But at this point, McConnell appears to have totally turned on Trump.  Just consider the things he just said on the floor of the U.S. Senate

“The mob was fed lies,” McConnell said. “They were provoked by the president and other powerful people, and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of branch of the federal government.”

McConnell said after Biden’s inauguration on the Capitol’s West Front — what he noted former President George H.W. Bush has called “democracy’s front porch” — “We’ll move forward.”

You can watch McConnell making that statement right here.

Previously, McConnell stated that he had not yet decided whether he would vote to convict Trump or not, but it seems that he has now gotten closer to making up his mind.

And that is not good news for President Trump.

Making things even worse for Trump is the fact that Chief Justice John Roberts does not seem too eager to preside over the upcoming trial.

If Roberts does not preside, that duty will probably fall to Kamala Harris

The Constitution states that ‘When the President of the United States is tried the Chief Justice shall preside.’

But with the Senate having been in recess since the House voted to impeach, the trial will occur when Trump is no longer in office – potentially giving Roberts an out.

That would put Kamala Harris as next in line to preside over the trial, in her constitutional role as the Senate’s presiding officer.

Can you imagine the spectacle that would create?

Ultimately, this is a moment of reckoning for the Republican Party.

If at least 17 Republicans in the Senate side with the Democrats and Trump is convicted, it could literally destroy the GOP.

In fact, Rand Paul is warning that a third of all Republicans “will leave the party” if Trump is convicted…

“I don’t often get asked my advice from leadership on how they should react, but my unsolicited suggestion would be this: They will destroy the Republican Party if leadership is complicit in impeachment, or if leadership votes for impeachment, they will destroy the party.”

“Impeachment is purely a partisan thing, it’s for the moral, ‘Oh I’m so much better than you, and you’re a bad person, because I’m so moral.’” Paul added, “These are the kind of people that are going to do this.”

“The impeachment is a wrongheaded, partisan notion. If Republicans go along with it, it will destroy the party. A third of Republicans will leave the party.”

I believe that Rand Paul is right on target, but his estimate of how many Republicans might leave may be low.

One recent poll found that only 12 percent of all Republicans would support banning Trump from ever holding office again…

A majority (56%) of Americans overall believe the Senate should remove Trump from office and disqualify him from running again, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll released Friday.

Only 12% of Republicans support such a move, the poll said, and those are the people who decide party primaries.

I don’t often make predictions, but I will make a prediction in this case.

I predict that if Trump is convicted we will see millions of Trump supporters leave the GOP and that will result in a new political party being formed.

And all of this political turmoil will certainly make the civil unrest in our nation even worse.

In the end, it is all going to come down to Mitch McConnell.

If he decides that the Senate should not convict Trump, there is no way that the Democrats will be able to put together the 67 votes that they need.

But if McConnell takes a neutral stance, or if he openly lobbies for Trump to be convicted, then anything can happen.

And if Trump is convicted, it is virtually certain that he will also be barred from ever running for office again.

We have never had a moment like this before in all of U.S. history, and the future of the Republican Party is literally hanging in the balance.

Intelwars Lisa Murkowski Party republican Resign trump

GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski calls for President Trump to resign

Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski has called for President Donald Trump to resign in the wake of Wednesday’s breach of the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters, saying the mob that stormed the building was taking “an order from the president.”

Murkowski—who has earned a reputation as a centrist willing to buck the party line—added that if Republicans remain the party of Trump, she may no longer be a good fit.

What are the details?

“I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage,” Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News on Friday of Trump, who has less than two weeks remaining of his presidency.

“I think he should leave,” she reiterated, saying, “he said he’s not going to show up. He’s not going to appear at the at the inauguration. He hasn’t been focused on what is going on with COVID. He’s either been golfing or he’s been inside the Oval Office fuming and throwing every single person who has been loyal and faithful to him under the bus, starting with [Vice President Mike Pence]. He doesn’t want to stay there. He only wants to stay there for the title. He only wants to stay there for his ego. He needs to get out. He needs to do the good thing, but I don’t think he’s capable of doing a good thing.”

Murkowski went on to say that “there may have been many, many, many, many good Americans who came to Washington, D.C., because they felt strongly in support of this president,” while she blames Trump for inciting that occurred at the Capitol following his speech at the rally that occurred beforehand.

“I will attribute it to the president, who said, even after his vice president told him that morning, ‘I do not have the constitutional authority to do what you have asked me to do. I cannot do it. I have to protect and uphold the Constitution.’ Even after the vice president told President Trump that, he still told his supporters to fight. How are they supposed to take that? It’s an order from the president. And so that’s why they did it. They came up and they fought and people were harmed, and injured and died.”

The Anchorage Daily News asked Murkowski whether she might leave the Republican Party, to which she replied:

“Well, you know, there’s a lot of people who actually thought that I did that in 2010, think that I became an independent. I didn’t have any reason to leave my party in 2010. I was a Republican who ran a write-in campaign and I was successful. But I will tell you, if the Republican Party has become nothing more than the party of Trump, I sincerely question whether this is the party for me.”

With Democrats picking up both Georgia Senate seats this week, the upper chamber is now split 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats, meaning Democratic Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will serve as the tie-breaker after inauguration. Losing Murkowski would weaken the GOP even further, as the Democrats hold a majority in the House and have won the White House.

Anything else?

Murkowski is the first Republican senator to call for Trump to step down, as House Democrats draw up articles of impeachment against the president for the second time.

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said Friday that impeachment of the president is “not going to happen” in the Senate.

But another GOP senator, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, told CBS News that if the House brought articles of impeachment against Trump, he would “definitely consider” such a measure.

State lawmaker joined Capitol siege — and livestreamed himself hooting, hollering as he entered building. Now colleagues want him gone.

A West Virginia Republican lawmaker livestreamed himself hooting and hollering while taking part in Wednesday’s siege of the U.S. Capitol — and now his colleagues from both parties want him gone, the Associated Press reported.

What are the details?

State Del. Derrick Evans wore a helmet as he and other supporters of President Donald Trump pushed their way inside the building, the AP said, citing the now-deleted video.

But the video is still readily available on the internet. In the portion of the video below, Evans yelled at one point, “Trump! Trump! Woooo!” He apparently added in another clip that doesn’t show his face, “The door’s cracked! Yes! We’re going in! … They’re in! They’re in! They’re in!”

And as a shield blocked the rioters’ way inside, Evans apparently can be heard chanting, “Move! Move!”

West Virginia Delegate Derrick Evans Records Himself Storming U.S. Capitol

The AP said video also showed Evans imploring others to not vandalize artwork and busts inside the grand Capitol Rotunda, where historic paintings depict the republic’s founding.

“Our house!” Evans yelled inside the Capitol halls, the outlet added. “I don’t know where we’re going. I’m following the crowd.”

More from the AP:

Evans, a vocal conservative activist with more than 30,000 followers on Facebook, has not publicly posted on social media since issuing a statement Wednesday that he attended the events as an “independent member of the media to film history.” He took his Twitter account private late Wednesday and didn’t respond to emailed questions.

What did Evans’ colleagues have to say?

Roger Hanshaw, the Republican speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates, told the outlet Wednesday night that Evans will need to “answer to his constituents and colleagues” for his actions.

The AP also said Democratic leadership called for his prosecution, and about 40,000 people signed a petition on asking for Evans’ removal. The chairwoman of the state GOP, Melody Potter, declined to answer questions about Evans, the outlet noted.

What did Evans’ attorney have to say?

Attorney John Bryan is representing Evans and told the AP that his client will not resign despite a bipartisan effort to expel him.

“He committed no criminal act that day,” Bryan said in a Thursday statement, the outlet noted. “At no point was Mr. Evans located in the crowd on the West side of the (Capitol) building, nor anywhere else on the Capitol grounds, where violence and destruction of property was, or had been, occurring,” the AP said.

But two U.S. Attorneys in West Virginia noted to the outlet in a statement that they are in touch with attorneys in other states and are “prepared to enforce the Rule of Law and the laws of these United States.”

More from the AP:

Like several other political first-time winners in November’s West Virginia elections, Evans swept aside a Democratic rival to win his seat representing Wayne County. High GOP turnout credited to Trump elevated down-ballot Republicans in the state and gave the party a statehouse supermajority.

Anything else?

Lawmakers from other states attended Wednesday’s pro-Trump rally in Washington, D.C., which stood in opposition to the election of Democratic President-elect Joe Biden, the outlet said.

More from the AP:

Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano said he helped organize a bus ride to the demonstrations but left the U.S. Capitol area after the eruption of violence, which he called “unacceptable.” The top Democrat in the Pennsylvania Senate, and eight of his colleagues, want him to resign, saying his actions and words disputing the election’s integrity encouraged a coup attempt and inspired the people behind it.

Tennessee state Rep. Terri Lynn Weaver said Wednesday night that it had been an “epic and historic day.” The Republican lawmaker told The Tennessean she was “in the thick of it” but hadn’t seen any violence. Weaver did not respond to emailed questions from The Associated Press about whether she entered the Capitol.

Incoming Nevada state Assemblywoman Annie Black, a Republican, said she marched from the White House to the U.S. Capitol, where she saw men on megaphones revving the crowd to storm the security barrier. She said she retreated to avoid being associated with the mob.

“We all had a choice when that fence came down,” she said, according to the outlet. “Whether it was our group that incited that to happen or another group, every single person had the choice to make.”

Republican Arizona state Rep. Mark Finchem posted photos of himself attending the protest outside the Capitol, the AP said. Finchem’s office told the outlet he observed from afar, yet liberal groups in the state want him expelled for backing the effort to overturn the election, the outlet added.

More from the AP:

Virginia state Sen. Amanda Chase, an outspoken Trump supporter who is running for governor, attended the president’s rally Wednesday in which Trump urged supporters to march to the Capitol. Chase said in a Facebook video that she left near the end of the rally on the advice of her security team, and there is no indication she was part of the group that stormed the Capitol.

Republican state Reps. David Eastman of Alaska and Justin Hill of Missouri both said they went to Washington to object to the Electoral College votes of several states confirming Biden’s election, but didn’t participate in the demonstrations.

Hill said the Trump rally was “very peaceful,” the outlet reported.

“But what I saw at the Capitol was not the same people,” he added. “I wasn’t there rallying troops to overthrow the government.”

2021 Commentary democrat Georgia Intelwars political Politics republican

They Are Doing It Again, And We Have Seen It Happen Way Too Many Times Before…

It appears to be happening again.  As I write this article, 92 percent of the vote has been counted in Georgia, and both Republicans are leading.  Kelly Loeffler has a lead of 2 percent over Ralph Warnock, and David Perdue has a lead of 2.8 percent over Jon Ossoff.  In the old days, leads of that size this late in the vote count would be enough to call both races.  But this is 2020, and we are being told that huge waves of votes from key Democratic strongholds could swing both races in favor of the Democrats.  Just like we saw in November, it appears that votes that will be counted in the middle of the night while most of the nation is sleeping will make all the difference.

Back in November, time after time President Trump was leading Joe Biden in key swing states after 90 percent of the vote had been counted, and time after time he lost.

This time around, some are anticipating that the Democrats will win before they have even taken the lead in the vote count.  In fact, Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report has already called the race between Warnock and Loeffler…

Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman has seen enough.

The data expert called the Georgia runoff election for Democrat Raphael Warnock, who he says will defeat Republican Kelly Loeffler. The call came early, as Georgia’s senate runoff elections are tight and have yet to be called by major outlets.

At this hour, we are being told that most of the “uncounted votes” are in the Democratic strongholds in the Atlanta area

Much of the uncounted votes are in metro Atlanta counties favoring Democrats as well as absentee ballots that also favor Democrats. Still, Sterling said there are also lots of uncounted likely Republican votes spread over smaller conservative counties in the state.

Isn’t it odd how they never seem to be able to count votes as quickly as everyone else?

In particular, CNN is reporting that the largest number of outstanding votes are in DeKalb County…

The biggest chunk of outstanding votes is the early in-person voting numbers from DeKalb County, said Gabriel Sterling, the voting systems implementation manager for the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, in a news conference this evening.

The county is heavily Democratic and played a key role in handing President-elect Joe Biden a victory in the state in the presidential election.

In November, the biggest cities in many of the most important swing states were extremely slow in reporting their results, and when those results finally came in they pushed Biden into the lead in those states.

And guess what?

Just a few moments ago, a huge vote dump from DeKalb County has vaulted Warnock into the lead, and Ossoff is now almost tied with Perdue.

96 percent of the vote is now in, and it is anticipated that the remaining 4 percent of the vote will help the Democrats even more.

Incredibly, President Trump seemed to be anticipating this exact scenario

Looks like they are setting up a big “voter dump” against the Republican candidates. Waiting to see how many votes they need?

States are going to have to start changing their election laws after this.  From now on, all counties should be required to report their vote totals at the exact same time so that nobody gets an unfair “advantage”.

Nobody should be able to delay their “counting” until they can see how all of the other counties have voted.  That just opens up way too much of an opportunity for malfeasance.

And of course we need to get rid of the voting machines entirely.

Speaking of that, there were all sorts of problems with voting machines in Republican strongholds in Georgia on Tuesday.  Here are just some of the reports that we were getting…

Georgia radio host John Fredricks:”Dominion machines in… 3 of the largest Republican precincts…are down…They are told they can’t scan their ballots because the machines don’t work…The pole workers are saying ‘When it’s fixed we’ll scan it for you’…There’s all kinds of red flags”

Columbia County, Georgia: “Columbia county…It’s a Republican-majority county. People forced to vote with provisional ballots and told to check online later to see if the vote was counted.”

Spaulding County, Georgia: Spoke with a woman who went to vote at 7am this morning. She & other voters were told the #dominion machines were down. They were not given emergency paper ballots & were told to come later. Some voters unable to come back due to work.

It is funny – I didn’t hear of a single problem with the machines in Democratic strongholds.

Maybe there were problems and I just didn’t hear about them.  That is entirely possible.

But it truly is strange how all of these election “anomalies” always seem to hurt Republicans and help Democrats.

Now 98 percent of the vote is in, and Ralph Warnock has a 0.8 percent lead on Kelly Loeffler.  The other race is almost completely tied.

But I have a feeling that some more votes will suddenly be “found” for Ossoff before it is all said and done.

The past couple of months have greatly shaken faith in our political system, and it has become exceedingly clear that America is in huge trouble.

Now that this has happened to them personally, I anticipate that Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue will both take much stronger stands on election security in the future.

It is still possible that Perdue may end up winning, but his lead just suddenly shrank to less than 2,000 votes.

The votes that Ossoff needs seem to be coming in, and it appears that he could be about to take the lead.

It is kind of strange writing an article as I watch the results come in.  I had a feeling that we were going to see this sort of a scenario play out, and now it is actually happening.

And right on cue, the Democratic stronghold of Gwinnett County has announced that they are not going to count any more votes until tomorrow morning

Gwinnett County, a suburb of Atlanta, has finished counting for the day, leaving just under 4,800 absentee and a small number of military ballots and cured absentee ballots to be counted, county officials said.

If Ossoff ends up needing some additional votes to push him over the top, that is where he can get them.

Sadly, it appears quite likely that the Democrats will end up taking control of the Senate, and that means that America is never going to be the same again after this.

Trump: “It’s Too Soon To Give Up” The Election Fight

Donald Trump has expressed his irritation at politicians such as Mitch McConnell who congratulated Joe Biden after the electoral college voted to further cement the Democrats’ win. But Trump has not thrown in the towel, and says it’s “too soon to give up!”

Trump took to his social media of choice, Twitter, on Wednesday, venting his anger at the top Republican senator’s words, according to a report by RT.  “Mitch, 75,000,000 VOTES, a record for a sitting President (by a lot). Too soon to give up. Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!” he wrote.

The remark from Trump came in response to a statement made by McConnell on Tuesday in which he acknowledged Biden’s win after the electoral college vote, congratulating him and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. “The Electoral College has spoken,” McConnell said, noting that “as of this morning, our country has a president-elect and a vice president-elect” even though “many millions of us had hoped the presidential election would yield a different result.”

McConnell has reportedly privately warned fellow Republican senators against challenging the election results, urging them to not dispute the Electoral College decision during the upcoming joint session of Congress to confirm the results. The session is scheduled to take place on January 6. The words of the Senate majority leader have angered Trump’s supporters, with the most hardcore going so far as to accuse McConnell of being a “traitor.”

“McConnell just wants power, influence, & money. He is willing to sell America to get what he wants. McConnell is a traitor to American Patriots,” Trump campaign attorney Lin Wood said.

The Trump campaign appears poised to stick this out for the next month as things continue to unravel.  At this point, though, the division between the left and right has never been wider.  No republican will accept a Biden presidency and not democrat will accept another four years of Trump.

The time to wake up to this division is now. Be aware of what’s happening but don’t get sucked in. Stay the course, stay prepared, and know the real-world ramifications of either one of these two being inaugurated next month. Either way, there will be consequences.

Michigan congressman quits GOP over party supporting ‘stop the steal’ efforts, fears ‘long-term harm to our democracy’

Michigan Rep. Paul Mitchell announced Monday that he will no longer be affiliated with the Republican Party, saying he fears “long-term harm to our democracy” may come from GOP leadership’s endorsement of efforts to overturn the presidential election, including “Stop the Steal” rallies.

His message came the same day the Electoral College voted to confirm Democrat Joe Biden president-elect, amid President Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to fight the outcome.

What are the details?

Mitchell penned a letter to Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), reminding them of his pro-Trump record before explaining his disgust at the party’s refusal to defend the electoral process.

“As you well know, my voting record in Congress over the past two terms has been in line with President Trump and the administration’s policies more than 95 percent of the time,” the congressman wrote. “Further, I voted for President Trump in the 2020 General Election despite some reservations about four more years under his leadership.”

The two-term representative voiced his agreement that “there have been some disconcerting aspects” to the Nov. 3 election and that changes must be made to the process, while acknowledging that “any candidate, including the president, is entitled to request recounts and pursue legal challenges they believe are appropriate if they possess evidence of wrongdoing.”

Then, Mitchell delved into why he was leaving the party, writing in part:

It is unacceptable for political candidates to treat our election system as though we are a third-world nation and incite distrust of something so basic as the sanctity of our vote. Further, it is unacceptable for the president to attack the Supreme Court of the United States because its judges, both liberal and conservative, did not rule with his side or that “the Court failed him.” It was our Founding Fathers’ objective to insulate the Supreme Court from such blatant political motivations.

If Republican leaders collectively sit back and tolerate unfounded conspiracy theories and “stop the steal” rallies without speaking out for our electoral process, which the Department of Homeland Security said was “the most secure in American history,” our nation will be damaged. I have spoken out clearly and forcefully in opposition to these messages. However, with the leadership of the Republican Party and our Republican Conference in the House actively participating in at least some of those efforts, I fear long-term harm to our democracy.

Rep. Mitchell informed party leaders that was quitting the GOP at the national and state level, noting that he will still “support, contribute to, and fundraise for individual candidates who reflect the principles [he] hold(s) dear.”

Anything else?

Mitchell, a multimillionaire who is retiring from Congress and only has weeks left to serve, added, “I am also requesting that the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives change my party affiliation to Independent for the remainder of my term in office. While admittedly symbolic, we all know that symbols matter.”

Republican Lisa McClain won the election to replace Mitchell and will be sworn in on Jan. 3.

ballots Blue crash democrat Donald Trump Economy elections electoral college Emergency Preparedness experts Forecasting Headline News Intelwars Joe Biden mail in markets Polling Polls red republican selections turnout United States Voting

This article was contributed by The Wealth Research Group.

A record turnout of voting is happening around the United States. The ease of mail-in votes is allowing many more people to express their opinions, where they might otherwise just stay home, be indifferent about it, and avoid the crowds.

Let’s go over the current state of affairs:

Democrat leaning states – California (55), Hawaii (4), Oregon (7), Washington State (12), Illinois (20), New Mexico (5), New York (29), Washington D.C. (3), Maryland (10), Delaware (3), New Jersey (14), Connecticut (7), Massachusetts (11), Rhode Island (4), Vermont (3) and Virginia (13). These states are nearly guaranteed to vote for Biden; that’s a collective 200 Electoral College votes.

Republican Leaning States – Oklahoma (7), Utah (6), Idaho (4), Wyoming (3), North Dakota (3), South Dakota (3), Nebraska (5), Louisiana (8), Alabama (9), Mississippi (6), Arkansas (6), Missouri (10), Kentucky (8), West Virginia (5), Tennessee (11), Montana (3), Alaska (3) and Indiana (11). These states are nearly guaranteed to vote for President Trump; that’s a collective 111 Electoral College votes.

SWING STATES: Nevada (6), Arizona (11), Colorado (9), Wisconsin (10), Michigan (16), Florida (29), New Hampshire (4), North Carolina (15), Georgia (16), Iowa (6), Ohio (18), South Carolina (9), Minnesota (10), Kansas (6), Pennsylvania (20), Maine (4) and Texas (38). That’s a collective of 227 Electoral College votes.

According to the polls, which are NOT to be trusted, Biden has a big lead. They vary from one to another, but most have Joe Biden comfortably in the driver’s seat.

If Biden wins the blue-swinging states, according to the polls, then he would have 279 Electoral College votes, whereas Donald Trump would have 263.

In other words, if Trump wins in either AZ, CO, WI, MI, or NC and is able to secure FL, TX, PA, and MN, he will remain in office.

What do you think will occur?

Monday will be another volatile day, because, as you can see, with everything that’s happening with Joe’s son, things aren’t looking like smooth sailing for the Democrats.

The eerie similarity between today’s market action and the one markets experienced in the Great Depression is quite dramatic, but the Federal Reserve and the world’s governments are reacting quickly and with a massive force of stimulus measures, all based on DEBT – lots and lots of it.

It seems like the tradeoff between debt and stimulus is always towards DEBT.

Can markets suddenly plunge by 40%-60%? Is it possible?

The answer is most likely not, since the crisis that we’ve seen this year did not originate from a financial or economic source.

It’s certainly possible that we’ll have volatility and pretty erratic markets for a while, since there’s an elevated level of uncertainty, specifically when it comes to the pandemic.

When one looks at this third wave of infections sweeping through Europe and the U.S., coupled with the elections, the conclusion is that Covid-19 will probably stay with us for a few years longer than most believe, perhaps permanently.

I’ll leave you with this: since 1928, if the S&P 500 was down for the 3-month period before elections, the reigning party (Republicans, in this case) was defeated. Since August, the index has returned -0.6%, so if you wanted yet another CLOSE CALL, this is as tight as it gets.

GOP lawmakers ask AG Barr to prosecute Netflix for distributing ‘Cuties’

Dozens of Republican members of Congress have signed on to a letter asking Attorney General William Barr to bring charges against Netflix for distributing the controversial film “Cuties,” saying the movie is “child pornography” under U.S. law, according to an exclusive report from The Daily Caller.

What are the details?

The letter sent by Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and signed by 33 more GOP members reads, in part:

“We’re writing to recommend you bring charges against Netflix, Inc. for the distribution of the film ‘Cuties,’ which contains child pornography. As defined by 18 U.S.C § 2256, child pornography is any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor, and that conduct does not need to specifically depict sexual activity to qualify.

“Cuties clearly meets the United States’ legal definition of child pornography. ‘Cuties’ contains, ‘a scene where an 11-year-old girl dressed in a tank and panties is splashed with water and begins twerking in a frenzied kind of way,’ and numerous other, equally distressing depictions of minors including the display of an 11-year-old child’s bare breast.”

The letter from federal lawmakers comes a week after Texas state Rep. Matt Schaefer called on the state’s attorney general to investigate “Cuties” “for possible violations of child exploitation and child pornography laws.”

Netflix sparked outrage last month after promoting the film’s rollout with a movie poster showing the little girls starring in the film about “sensual dance” appearing scantily-clad in suggestive poses.

The streaming platform apologized for the marketing materials and replaced them, but drew further backlash over several scenes in ‘Cuties” after the film was released. Clips showing the 11-year-old star and her peers dancing provocatively were widely shared on social media.

Numerous Republicans condemned Netflix for distributing “Cuties,” including Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), who called on the platform to remove it from streaming. Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii) also slammed the film, calling it “child porn” and telling Netflix the company is “now complicit.”

Netflix has defended the film, refuses to remove it and encourages critics to watch it, arguing that “is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children.” The company denies that the movie shows any child nudity.

The streaming giant has seen its U.S. cancellations spike nearly eightfold after an online campaign calling for people to boycott the company over “Cuties.” But Netflix remains defiant, and according to The Daily Caller, “‘Cuties’ was ranked the fourth most watched movie on Netflix in the United States” as of last Tuesday.

Fox News host corners Jeff Flake over his support for Joe Biden, exposes hole in anti-Trump charade

Fox News host Martha MacCallum grilled former Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake on Monday over his controversial decision to endorse Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

What’s the background?

Ahead of the Republican National Convention, Flake formally endorsed Biden, along with more than two dozen other former members of Congress, including prominent lawmakers like Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) and Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.).

The Biden campaign said:

These former members of Congress cited Trump’s corruption, destruction of democracy, blatant disregard for moral decency, and urgent need to get the country back on course as a reason why they support Biden. These former members of Congress are supporting Joe Biden because they know what’s at stake in this election and that Trump’s failures as president have superseded partisanship.

What happened in the interview?

Republicans and conservatives who refuse to support Trump often cite his policies — that they are neither conservative nor do they authentically represent what the Republican Party has historically advocated.

So how can a conservative endorse Biden because they oppose Trump’s policies, when Biden’s policies are even less conservative than Trump’s? MacCallum sought to expose whether Flake endorsed Biden based on his policies or his personality.

MacCallum asked, “Joe Biden, he has said that, ‘If I’m elected, I will be the most progressive president in history.’ How do you, as a lifetime Republican, support someone who has that goal?”

In response, Flake justified Biden’s comments by deferring to the fact that Biden made them during a presidential primary rife with ultra-liberal candidates.

“I think, if you look at Joe Biden’s record, he’s not been that,” Flake said. “He’s a creature of the Senate. He knows how to compromise. He knows how to work across the aisle, and I’m confident he will do that in the future.”

MacCallum later responded, “I’m just trying to figure out in terms of actual policy what it is that you really like in Joe Biden as a lifelong Republican.”

For example, MacCallum noted how Flake had long supported the First Step Act, a major criminal justice reform bill — and that it was Trump, not former President Barack Obama, who signed the legislation into law.

“The president was actually able to sign that into law,” MacCallum said. “We had eight years of the Obama-Biden administration and they did not take action on that. So why support Joe Biden over President Trump?”

Flake responded by noting that the Obama administration, with the help of Biden, helped appropriate more money for border security. But beyond that, he did not note other areas of policy agreement with the former vice president.

“I’ve been supportive of many of the things that the president has pushed —” Flake began to say.

“But you just don’t like his character,” MacCallum interjected.

Later, when MacCallum confronted Flake with the fact that he and Biden differ on education policy — school choice, for example — the former Arizona senator again seemed unable to reconcile his principled stand against Trump with his support for Biden.

“I think [Biden] will preserve the public space so that we can go back to disagreeing about policy and not just this ripe tribalism that we see today,” Flake said.

Bernie Sanders Biden Brooke Baldwin CNN CNN interview Daughter mother cnn Daughter mother feud democratic party Donald Trump election Election 2020 Intelwars Joe Biden Mother voted for trump republican republican party trump

CNN host can barely conceal enthusiasm over daughter who refused to talk to her mom after she voted for Trump in 2016, or mom’s decision to vote Biden in 2020

In a recent segment on CNN, host Brooke Baldwin interviewed a mother and daughter from North Carolina who suffered a family rift in 2016 after both parents voted for Donald Trump. But now that the mother is considering casting a vote for former Vice President Joe Biden should he be the Democratic nominee this fall, the daughter feels that the family has been restored.

Scarlett Murphy, who is in New York for school, says she wasn’t as surprised by her father’s vote, since he is “part of a demographic that almost lives in an entirely different world in terms of what they think [and] what media information is presented to them.”

“He works in the construction industry; he listens to a local AM radio station that’s very conservative,” she added.

But she couldn’t believe that her mother would vote for Trump.

“I thought of my mom as someone who is, you know, like really involved with, like, social justice work, and is an advocate for so many people Trump disparaged,” Murphy said.

But now, almost four years later, the mother, Patricia Murphy, says that she will vote for Biden if he is an option in the general election.

Judging by Baldwin’s reaction when the words fell off Patricia Murphy’s tongue, you would have thought that the admission was the breaking news of the day.

Baldwin cut in, saying, “hang on, hang on, hang, on … so you’re telling me, if Joe Biden were to become the nominee, you would vote for him over Donald Trump?”

“Yes, if that is the case this time around, that’s what I would do,” Patricia Murphy confirmed as Baldwin looked over to the daughter and nodded her head in affirmation.

Patricia Murphy reluctantly admitted that she voted for Trump in 2016 because she liked that he promised to “bring manufacturing back to America” and negotiate “trade agreements that were more favorable to America,” but said that if Biden had been the Democratic nominee in 2016 she would have voted for him instead.

She was careful to note that she is not ready to vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) over Trump, as she is uncertain about his brand of socialism. If Sanders were to become the nominee, there is still a chance that she would vote Republican, she acknowledged.

At the end of the interview, Baldwin gave Scarlett Murphy the last word.

“Final words to mom … what’s your advice?” Baldwin asked.

“I think you should vote for Joe Biden, mom,” Scarlett Murphy said.

border Border wall Congress Donald Trump funding immigration Intelwars mexico National Emergency Pentagon republican Southern border trump

Pentagon transfers $3.8 billion to fund border wall. Congress rages.

The Pentagon sent a notice to Congress Thursday afternoon announcing plans to repurpose $3.8 billion in order to fund the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

What are the details?

The Department of Defense money was originally intended to pay for “new aircraft, naval ships, and equipment for the National Guard,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

In its report on the news, The Hill noted that the money is being repurposed as part of the Pentagon’s counter-drug fund. According to The Hill, the notice says that the money is going toward the “support of higher priority items” and is “required to provide support for counter-drug activities.”

“DHS has identified areas along the southern border of the United States that are being used by individuals, groups, and transnational criminal organizations as drug smuggling corridors, and determined that the construction of additional physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the United States border is necessary in order to impede and deny drug smuggling activities,” the notice says.

Last year, President Donald Trump declared the crisis at the southern border a national emergency. The declaration freed Trump to transfer military funds to pay for the border wall after Congress rejected appropriating the funding he requested.

Opponents of the declaration in Congress have repeatedly attempted to undo it but have thus far failed to block the president’s vetoes.

Some in Congress are raging

In response to the news, several congressional members on Capitol Hill are decrying the move as unconstitutional and dangerous.

“President Trump is once again disrespecting the separation of powers and endangering our security by raiding military resources to pay for his wasteful border wall,” House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) said in a joint statement with Defense Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Pete Visclosky (D-Ind.).

“The President has stolen from the men and women of our military, their families, and the American taxpayers all to pay for a failed campaign promise and endanger our national security,” Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), the Senate Appropriations Committee vice chairman, said.

On the Republican side, the ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), also expressed concern over the move and called on Congress to “take action.”

According to The Hill, Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) also expressed regret over the move, despite his support for border wall construction.

“I like the wall, I support the president, I wish they’d find the money somewhere else,” Shelby said. “I wish we could fund it through the regular process.”
